I forgot the option for a draft but another 9/11 or a new M.E. scenario would probably open that one up anyway. I haven't voted yet 'cause I'm still undecided.....probably will pick the most/all option.

I vote for a liberal hunting season restricted to Liberals of breeding age. We once again, as during the Regean administration will hunt them down to manageble numbers. :D

The official hunting calls used for calling them up will be "socialized medicine", "Hybrid car", and of course the old favorite "No Nucs".

Apologies to fans of Bloom County and Berkeley Breathed.

I think gas prices will go up, because Peak Oil is real, and neither Bush nor Kerry can prevent it from happening.

I don't think that Bush is going to invade Iran or North Korea, and probably not Syria. Whatever he might *want* to do, the reality is that those three countries have big dogs backing them, and without extreme provocation we aren't going to start that kind of trouble. (Of course, they could give us the extreme provocation, but I'm hoping they'll decide it isn't in their best interests, either.)

I also don't think that the draft will be reinstated unless something really major happens, in which event Kerry would have had to do the same thing. And, as has already been pointed out dozens if not hundreds of times, the only recent draft bill was sponsored by Democrats. Since they are in the minority in House and Senate, I don't think it's going to pass.

I DO think the economy is in serious trouble. Bush has been doing what he can to keep it afloat, but it wouldn't take much to bring the whole house of cards down. And, again, Kerry would have been in the same fix, and with his proposals of higher taxes, would have just made things worse.

Can't remember what else was on that poll, too bad it doesn't show up when you are replying.

I would also add more total disreguard for the Constitution and Bill of Rights. I have real fear for what is ahead now. I expect the "war" in Iraq to really step up now. IMOH bush has been holding the military back so he could win the election. Never mind that some of them were being killed while Bush played politics. I think the big oil companies have been holding the price of gas down at the pumps so that their Buddy would win the election, but now they will start a steady rising of the prices. We can kiss $2.00 a gallon gas good bye.
The draft? Just a matter of time and timing, but it is coming. Where else can Bush get the "cannon Fodder" for his "oil wars"? Iraq has shown that the US can defeat another country with air power and tanks, but that without a lot more men on the ground we can't maintain control of that country. I honestly think that Bush had no post victory plans when he invaded Iraq, other than perhaps the Iarqies would love us for getting rid of Saddam. The problem is that after we got rid of him, we showed no signs of getting ready to leave their country. We seem to intend to keep military bases there so that we have more control of the Middle East oil fields. Eventually the "oil wars" will bring US up against some players who have nuclear weapons. I fear the Bush will get us into a global war where there are no winners, only some survivers. I honestly don't think he is right in the head.
Damn, I hope I am wrong.

Okay, I copied the poll, so I can finish my answer! :D

Another 9/11? I hope not. It could happen, though. I think we've disrupted a lot of their plans, but it's hard to believe that we've stopped all of them.

Patriot Act II? I think it's time there was some organized opposition to that stuff. Get the one we already have repealed or seriously ammended, too, as it really doesn't do a whole lot to stop terrorists. And close our borders down tighter and be totally un-PC and get the illegal immigrants and the ME non-citizens out of the country.

New technology systems? Not the cashless society, not yet. Not ever, I hope, but things are unfortunately trending that way. RFID chips? Maybe someday, but probably not in the next four years. I suspect a socialist Democrat would be more likely to bring something like that in. National ID card? That is probably quite likely at some point. I don't know if it will happen in the next four years, but it is probably coming. I don't like it, and we need to fight it, but, it probably is coming.

Okay, now I think I got all of them!

You know, given that we have a president who, while he hasn't said much publicly about Peak Oil, quite certainly is aware of it, I think that he's been trying to do the best he can to preserve our nation. No, I don't agree with everything he's doing or tried to do, but please give him a little credit. What would have happened if we *hadn't* gone into Iraq and they had gone ahead with the Euros instead of the dollars? It would have seriously hurt our economy, expecially as other countries followed their lead. What would people be whining about then? They'd be saying, "Oh, if only we had invaded Iraq, maybe we'd still have food to eat and the electricity on, and wouldn't be losing our home.". Looks to me like Bush is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't. Let's give him the four years -- trying to look at all sides of the issues that come up, instead of automatically jumping all over him no matter what he does. In return, I will promise to do the same if a Dem wins the next election.

How about another option:

Some good things will happen, Bush will get no credit. Some bad things will happen, Bush will get blamed. Repubs will blame the Dems and vice-versa for anything that goes wrong. Doomers will continue to cry "whoa is me, the end is near!", connect the dots and believe only the worst is coming, while the "sheeple" continue to think life will continue pretty much as it always has. And it will.

I think that would be my choice. :D

I was hoping for a conviction for Scott (the peter) Peterson. I'd like to see him go down myself.

I am also hoping for the marriage tax reduction to stay in place. When Bush gave us that I was thrilled. It saves us about 1,500.00 per year, even with no children.

I'd like Osama to turn up dead - real soon.

Gas went down a few cents this morning. That helps.

The stock market, after falling on yesterdays new that Kerry was ahead, is now moving back up.

I'm thinking that some people here expect that Bush should be able to make all our costs go down. He is not our saviour, he is just another president. One man cannot control our country, it was not set up as such.

I think everyone should take a deep breath and look forward to your next election.

Myself, :sht: I AM GLAD IT IS ALL OVER WITH. I have grown so tired of it all.

Fallujah is next. Does that just roll off the tongue, or what? People talk about Fallujah being next like it is just another talk about our soccer game. Fallujah is a real city, with real people. No, not all of them are moving. Fallujah is their home. Like Cinciinatti or St.Paul, or any number of towns and cities are your homes. You are all gung ho about bombing and attacking Fallujah. If Zarqawi isn't there anymore. Why bother? You are going to find insurgency in every city now. Fallujah is just the beginning. This insurgency will not end with Fallujah. Fallujay will just be the beginning.

Falluja is one of the few remaining terr strongholds. Once that nest of vipers is cleaned out, we will move on to the rest of the Sunni triangle. The Sunnis were initially siding with the foreign terrs because they thought they would win, and the Sunnis resented losing their total power over the nation. It now beoming apparent that the terrs are getting massacred and the insugency has no chance, the Sunnis are already beginning to negotiate with the new government, something they refused to even consider in the past.

The terrs will be eradicated, the Sunnis will join the new government, and the insurgency will collapse. There will still be outside efforts to destabilize Iraq, especially from Syria and Iran, but they will fail.

And what's going to keep Iraq stable in the long run? 1 year? 5 years? 10 years? Or do we stay there forever? Maybe that's W's plan.

Listened to a very intellegent man on the radio a day or two ago. He was talking about the Middle East about how up until the British went in and decided to divide it up into a bunch of small countries it was really all just a big Arab state. How most of the people living in let's say iraq have relatives in Iran and and syria and even Jordan. How when the PTB call those fighting us in Iraq are called insurgents when they really are cousins, brothers ect who may have just moved to a different country to live but when their relatives were invaded they took up the call to help out their family. Think about it. Most of them move around alot. The Sunni's are spread out all over the place. So are the other tribes.
We have the same thing over here only we call them states. Our families have also moved to different parts of this huge continent we call the United States.
The PTB call them insurgents when what they are is the families and friends of those who have been bombed, shot, invaded, stolen from, you know, raped and pilaged, and of course don't forget plundered for their wealth, ie oil.
And if those same folks who are doing the plundering can then rebuild those places that have been bombed out after the "bad" guys are all killed then what the hey!
Oh, and guess who gets to finance all that and pay for it? We do, over and over and over again. With our soldiers lives and with our tax dollars.

Doesn't that make you feel warm and fuzzy????????

Now what exactly would you do if say your brother lived in say Florida, and that state was invaded? Wouldn't you go to help out and fight if there wasn't help to be had from the state gov?????? You know you would. If any of our states were bombed or another country decided (like Mexico) that it wanted that state..... well you get the picture.

It is going to get messy. Noon of those countries are going to just let us come in and take over and make money off them or steal their resources.

"And what's going to keep Iraq stable in the long run?"
Democracy. People actually having representation and a stake in their own government for the first time. The same thing that keeps western nations stable.

=============================================================

WO:

That is a nice fairy tale, except for a couple small points. Neither the Arabs nor the Sunnis are a unified group, nor have they ever been. They have been happily slaughtering each other and fighting their 'brothers' to steal each others' land, livestock and women since time immemorial. Their great weakness is that they have been unable to agree on *anything*, much less work together since they kicked the Turks off their land (once that happened, they immediately fell back into squabbling for land and murdering each other). The one thing they can agree upon is their universal and virulent racism against the Jews.

The other part of the fairy tale is that we are stealing Iraqi oil, when in fact we are spending $billions$ of our own money to rebuild their country and taking *nothing whatsoever* from them. Your claim is Bagdhad Bob-level false propaganda.

We do have unfinished business there and throughout Iraq, MW, if we are going to deliver what we promised. A degree of restraint unbecoming a military operation was shown at great cost for real political reasons, and now we must systematically destroy and disarm the insurgent strongholds if the Iraqi people are to have viable opportunity to self govern, as opposed to age-old continuing tribal warfare and genocide.

Personally, (understanding what I do of their culture), I would not have made that promise, but it has indeed been made before a watching world, and is now as integral to our national security as theirs. We also owe it in blood to our troops to clean house.

Actually Iraqi oil is probably lost to us....to get it out infrastructure is needed and that keeps getting bombed...we arn't getting diddle out of the Iraqi wells...and even if we were able to put down the rebellion...it only takes a few to keep bombing the pipelines...we will never take oil with permission of that society and we don't have it...no matter what Allwaii and his American picked cohorts say.

Feeling any better? Iraq is a giant sucking whirl pool that consumes our resources until the dollar collapses and China, Japan and the rest of world that holds our bonds or owns outright our land decides to collect.

Cleaning our fulliga will ultimately prove nothing and will be reinfested as soon as the marines pull out...there are no totally committed Iraqi divisions that will work for us.

Milkydoo you're funny!

Name even one of these line items that would not have applied as equally, if not more so, under a Kerry Presidency!

The poll is therefore completely invalid.
