My friend and I got there about 1030am but it opened at 900am. The parking lot was PACKED. My friend was looking for a double stack mag type mid-size 9mm, he was looking to spend $500 but was flexible if he needed to be. It was nuts to butts walking around in this place it was so busy. After about 10 minutes of looking around it was abundantly clear that he wasn't going to come close to that price point. All 9mm double stacked mag pistols were all well over MSRP and people couldn't buy them fast enough. I've never seen shit like this. Any acceptable 9mm pistol was $700 and up, everything else was sold barely two hours after opening. A lot of ebonics being spoken, too. Ammo prices were just as bad. I saw Wolf Gold .223 for $600 for 1K rounds, bulk pistol round prices were a joke but PEOPLE WERE BUYING huge 500/1000 round boxes. Pump shotguns were NON-EXISTENT, not one to be found in this huge show.

I witnessed a table with new Glocks on it, some priced beyond any sane person's limit. Glock 43 $1099....oh yeah, it folds. Glock G23C $1100, Glock G45 $749, Glock G22C $850, Glock Gen 4 17 $699, Glock Gen 4 19 $1100. The guy behind the table had a serious look on his face as I was taking pics and laughing. Sig P365's were $100 over MSRP. People were in line several yards long filling out paperwork. We left empty handed but we stopped at a family owned gun shop about two miles before my neighborhood. They didn't have much at all but they did have a Gen 5 Glock 19 for $650 so my buddy bought it. I bought my Gen 4 19 and Gen 4 26 (for my wife) both for $420 out the door but that was a few years ago with my LEO discount. Times they are a changing.

As an anecdotal confirmation on this, I've been trying to find a SIMPLE pump 12GA like a Remmy 870, Mossberg 500, Winchester Defender, etc, locally for 2 months. The only variants available are the 4-5 cap mag tubes with huge 24 inch barrels. The closest I've been able to find is a Shockwave, and that doesn't interest me.

I'm thankful I've pretty much got what I need. The last gun show I went to around here (WKY) turned me off of them for finding anything reasonably priced, and that was during good times. Pay $10 or so to get in, to find dealers had marked up almost all guns above msrp. I would find ammo at a decent price occasionally, but not guns at all.

I went to an Academy the other day. ZERO pistol ammunition. ZERO military rifle ammunition except for 7/20rd boxes of 5.56 with purchase limits. There were ZERO common hunting rifle ammunition. There were a few odd ball hunting ammo in .30 and above. Strangely enough there was plenty of 12 gauge. .410 and 28 gauge almost all gone.

I went to a local gunstore a couple weeks ago and asked the guy if he had any 9mm JHP. He just laughed!

I got an Academy gift card for Fathers day and have been going by any chance I get to check for ammo or magazines I could add to the stash, but they're wiped out of common calibers. Some oddball stuff, but not much else. The gun selection is also very low too. Most of the display cases were almost empty.

I have been working back at my old gun shop this week helping them get caught up. Background checks are taking up to 30 hours, longer on Fridays (Normally 5 to 15 minutes).

Most noteworthy is the number of ebonics speakers coming in for stripped lowers. We sold maybe 3 to them in over ten years, there have been three a day all week. It seems everyone is getting armed up.

I have had several non gun owning cops call me begging for an AR. They were disappointed. If a cop does not own any guns outside of work there is something seriously wrong with them.

Thinwater, I have said this before, liberals are the ones that are arming up, conservatives have been buying for years as we can afford to, liberals being who they are and antigun have woke and guns arent so bad anymore. They see having a gun now as a good thing and since they have watched TV, using one should be second nature. I wish when our members go to a gun range, they take note of the number of Karens and blacks popping rounds, and report if they can.

No doubt.

How long before we are down to bow/arrows, or swords ?
What do you mean - BEFORE? LOL

Dang, I knew I forgot something. Where can you get a good sword?
I know you're probably joking, BUT....

Rapiers and the like are for people in tights.

For today I think a good Roman Short Sword, for up close and personal would be the ticket. And believe it or not Gerber makes a Machete, in that style, with a good stiff back, that would fill the bill.

I would but our range is on our land and is private. Thank God!

There were a few ebonics speakers there that had BLM apparel on, however, they weren't getting too triggered around us white folks like they would if people were wearing confederate garb head to toe on the street. They put their selves on a leash.

Definitely joking! If I end up needing a sword, I’m in trouble.

CAS Iberia for swords. Cold Steel has some stuff too.

If you poke around on eBay enough, there's good stuff there too. But rather than swords, look at Cold Steel's blunt weapons, and there are quite a few makers that do combat-grade tomahawks and axes. Swords take specialized training to be useful, but most anyone can swing a baseball bat or axe, and the reach is about the same.

Thanks, I was wondering. Also, the shows I went to, taking picture is very much frowned upon.

A friend of mine works part time at a indoor range, I asked him when was the best time to come to beat the crowds. he said midweek the weekends were crazy with new shooters. Lots of spooks with NO safe weapons handling skills NONE. They get pissed when they have to set thru a short 30 min safety course before entering the range . All they want to do is shoot their 9 LOL . He helped one black guy load and rack his new "9" showed him how to aim. First shot he hit paper the other 49 rds he never it the target . Dude was happy and left with a comment he was ready now. LOL

Most use the enhanced Ghetto stance. :)

Got me one of those cold steel khukari machetes. Have used it to clear small trees from the road on the way up to the house and it worked fairly well. Not as good as an axe or, better yet, a chain saw. Not quite heavy enough to really dig into the wood. Now if I could get one with a bit more weight in the blade it would make something that would cleave a skull or three.

Consider one of their spetsnaz shovels. They work pretty well for a hatchet.
They are sharp enough on all 4 edges that the sheath really isn't optional.

I have a few cold steel matchetes shaped like short swords/long knives (12" and 18"). However, they're still machete steel (1055, low carbon) and will never have or hold an edge like a hardened sword blade made from 1075 or 5160.

Understand everything but this bit:

"Glock 43 $1099....oh yeah, it folds."
