Despite his vow to find a new church after disassociating himself with Rev. Jeremiah Wright's fiery rhetoric, President Obama reportedly has not attended a single church service since he took office.

"We probably won't make any firm decision on this until January, when we know what our lives our going to be like," Obama told reporters in May when he announced his split with Trinity United, his church of 20 years.

President George W. Bush had attended numerous services at St. John's Episcopal Church by his third month in office. His father attended the same church on Inauguration Day.

President Bill Clinton also attended church services within weeks of becoming president. While President Jimmy Carter taught Sunday school at the First Baptist Church in Washington, President Ronald Reagan didn't attend because he said security requirements were too burdensome for his congregation.

However, after 11 Sundays in office, Obama still hasn't found a church – even with Easter just four days away.

The president opted to skip services during his first three weeks in office to work out at the gym, Politico reported.

"Because they have a great deal of respect for places of worship, they do not want to draw unwelcome or inappropriate attention to a church not used to the attention their attendance would draw," a transition aide said.

Bill Sammon, Washington editor of Fox News, pointed out that Obama's director of religious affairs and current director of the White House office on faith-based initiatives, Joshua DuBois, told reporters just before inauguration that the Obamas "look forward to learning more about many churches in the District."

"They will choose a church home at a time that is best for their family," DuBois said.

In January, Obama announced that his wife Michelle would tour Washington churches to select one for the family.

"It is tougher as president," Obama said. "You know, this is not just an issue of going to church, it's an issue of going anywhere. You don't want to subject your fellow church members, the rest of the congregation, to being nagged every time you go to church. And so, we're going to try to be balancing, not being disruptive to the city, but also saying we want to be part of Washington, D.C."

In a May 2008 campaign flier, Obama was quoted as saying, "My faith teaches me that I can sit in church and pray all I want. But I won't be fulfilling God's will unless I go out and do the Lord's work."

Meanwhile, many are still questioning the president's faith. According to a new national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, 35 percent of respondents said they do not know Obama's religion, either because they do not know enough about him (22 percent), or because they have heard different things about his religion (13 percent).

According to the survey, an additional 11 percent of Americans still believe Obama is a Muslim, while 48 percent say he's a Christian and 6 percent refused to answer.

Too bad. He might benefit from a visit to the church of his choice.

He's been associated with the United Church of Christ in the past. But that's not the only game in town. Better he find some place where he is comfortable and keep with it.

:siren: Oilpatch Hand Cuts Barry Soetoro Some Slack on Church Attendance! :siren:

Since the level of security inherent in Presidential visits is generally incompatible with the atmosphere in most normal churces, I can see where Barry might not want to inconvenience the congregation of whatever church he might decide to pretend to be joining.

Seriously...do you want 1,500 Secret Service agents, metal detectors, searches of the entire entering congregation and their belongings, as well as rooftop snipers at your place worship on Sunday? Why, no, of course not. Most churchgoers wouldn't.

And it won't just be Obama and family going to church. He will be dragging along an army of secret service with him. Too bad he can't go back to hear Rev. Wright scream his rants about the white devils in the government that designed the HIV virus to kill the black man. That would entertain the secret service to no end.

And why are they calling them "secret" service. They aren't a secret.

But he has picked out an all colored Baptist church to attend on Easter.

A mixed church just won't cut it for the bamster.
Pandering to his core voters, is my guess. And no, I realize not all blacks voted for him, but I think it's a safe guess to say most did.

What did former church going presidents do for church? I know they attended. I was at Christchurch in VA and saw the pew that George Washington and his family utilized, though I'm not sure it was during his term, I can't remember.

If it meant he was a moral, Bible believing Christian I sure would! I'd even give up my seat for him and sit on the floor so he could attend. When it's a world leader (or anyone else) who wishes to know God and His plan for him, I'd make room. What's a little inconvenience in exchange for where you spend eternity?

My guess is he can't find a muzzie approved Christian church (they don't exist).

You forgot to mention being groped by the secret service.

I betcha he could find a Black Muslim Panther Marxist Christian Church. Oh wait, that was Rev. Wright's church.

Somebody stop me, I'm having too much fun at the expense of the beloved President.

There's a lot of Bible believing Christians that don't attend church.

I'm reminded again of why I love Fred.

Hey! You know what? That would make a perfect T-Shirt!! Honestly! It's innocuous enough that anyone could wear it (male, female, white, black, dem, repub, whetever) and straight enough that it actually makes sense in a stand-alone sort of way and silly enough that it would catch on. Seriously, I can see it now . . .

I can't wait to see just how we're going to restore Constitutional government by counting how many times this guy goes to church.

Maybe we could set homeland security people at every church door, checking folk in and out. Wiretap confessionals. Find out who mumbles through the hymns.

AND we cant find a minister in the whole USA who cant arrange chaplain services at the White House?

They can hold an Easter Egg hunt at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but cant invite God to services at the same address?

The US Army provides chaplains for every soldier of any denomination which (includes Christian, Jew, Muslim, Wiccan) every moment of any day and every Holiday anywhere in the whole world.............

Ronald Reagan refrained from church attendance while he was President for the same reason. There's a lot of advance security necessary any time the President goes anywhere, and if Barry Soetoro decided to attend one particular church, all of his fellow worshippers could count on some massive inconvenience every Sunday.

Same thing for the moronic complaints about how G. W. Bush didn't attend the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Even if it were logistically possible to implement the advance security necessary to insure the President's safety and still have him get there in time to attend the funeral, it would still constitute a brazen, coarse, and unseemly intrusion into the lives of grieving family members, at just about the most inopportune time, no less. (Such comments were always made by people who appeared to be completely ignorant of the depth and scope of security arrangements incidental to Presidential movements.)

As a self-reliant independent businessman and taxpayer who doesn't need a socialist clown in the White House dictating my every move, I've got differences with Barry Soetoro in just about every area. I can come down on him hard for a lot of things. Just not this church attendance thing.

My thoughts exactly. If there isn't already a White House chaplain, perhaps there should be one.

He might be going to church to celebrate the New Messiah's rising which has occured in January this year.

How does one worship oneself? Maybe he's going to BE worshipped? Any chance?

If O did find a church to go to and the SS and fans could be kept at a minimum, think what a bashing that church would get from all who dislike the Pres.

We would hear that there are muzzies under every pew, Reverend Wright will soon appear, that the racial balance isn't correct, and other such nonsense.

Also- no one on this forum knows what the Obamas do on Sunday- maybe they have a visiting preacher, maybe they listen to Christian radio,, maybe they use it as family time and read the Bible together.

Even if you hate Obama, you should still understand that the man has children and might like to be with them, ALONE, on Sundays, if possible.

With all due respect Ender, did he want to be alone with his children on Sundays when he lived in Chicago and attended that church of the poison mind with "Rev." Wright? It's my understanding he had those children baptized there as a matter of fact. Why go through that if you don't want to bring your children to church?

As much as I love the Obamas......

I'd stay home if I knew they were going to come to my church. Don't want to deal with getting wanded, my daughter's Sunday School room getting swept by security, my car getting searched.....no thanks.

Its a LEADERSHIP position.
Obama is supposed to provide leadership by example. Not only to his children, but to the world citizens.

and its about Easter and God and Holy Places, not about that basket ball court he had installed at the white house.

Great sermon spoken about Sunday which has now become the second Saturday in the weekend, instead of the first day of the new week.

So when all time blends together, and there isnt enough time, its because nobody practiced a reset to a new beginning point for peace and quiet and reverence to God as commanded by God.

My spidey senses tell me that maybe he really "didn't" hear any racial slurs and whitey slamming at Wright's church, because he never actually WENT there. He just chose the wrong church to claim during his campaign. Wright is no doubt a friend of Zero's, but I doubt the relationship was church-based. Probably more of a Panther brother.

Zero isn't a Christian. He's a muslim. Oh, I can already see the anger on Michelle's face when she's forced to sit in an actual church just for publicity.

My point is that O is The POTUS now. Spending time, alone, with one's children can get pretty complicated.

My family is very church-going but there were times, when my Dad was extremely busy, that we would stay home just to be together.

So in 3 months he can't attend church 1 time but he can party EVERY Weds. night? Sorry, doesn't pass my sniff test. Smells like a dirty litter box to me.

The Article: In January, Obama announced that his wife Michelle would tour Washington churches to select one for the family.

:hmm: Touring the church will help select one? This sounds like touring real estate, as in you can check out the carpet and the drapes and the layout when searching for a house to buy. But what can one learn about the guts of the place, the philosophies, the atmosphere by one lone member of the family touring in what I interpret as during 'closed" hours?

Not that I give a rip whether they go or not. Them sitting in a church every time the doors are open would not be significant to me period. Sitting in a garage does not make you a Cadillac.
