HEALTH Need medical supplies website

I have no idea where to search for a reputable website where I can buy medical supplies; i.e. gloves, masks, etc. I don't live in an area where I can go to a local pharmacy to pick up those items. I want to buy more than just those items mentioned as well. Thanks.

Might try

Amazon....especially if you don't need more than a box or so of something. SOme of the suppliers have fairly decent pricing, and if you are a prime member you get free 2 day shipping, if not, $25 or more gets you free 3-5 day shipping.

I have to second Amazon. They have pretty good prices and I have a LOT of medical supplies I've purchased from them.

I've purchased supplies from Amazon.

I buy alcohol and hydrogen peroxide in big bottles from WalMart, and have noticed that sometimes their supply is low.

I'm going to check out the sites posted here. Thanks for the information.

I'm glad to see you posted that. We don't have a Walmart we can just run to town to but we do have a Family Dollar and they've been sold out of peroxide and alcohol for 2 months until this past week when they had approx. 6 small bottles of alcohol only-still no peroxide. All the bins/slots (and other smaller slots) for the large sizes are sitting empty of both items. I've wanted to post something here about it but kept forgetting.

Good topic!

I would be interested in Quick Clot Trauma Kits, battle dressings, and all of the other items one cannot find at the regular retail stores.

The "tacti-cool" sites are way over priced in my opinion.

Thanks all for your suggestions. I want to purchase those plastic bed sheets in case I need to change them often without having to be washing regular sheets 24/7; should we see some kind of pandemic.

I like to be ahead of the game; so when there is a crisis I won't have to deal with shortages. Been there and done that in the past with food items. I remember when Walton Foods was six months behind on their orders. And Emergency Essentials was low on a lot of products when the government decided to make some large purchases.

from what I've read, the generic face masks won't protect from the ebola virus...the virus is way too small; you'll need a full suit to ensure protection.

Great thread.
For emergency use only on a Quick Clot Trauma I use Cayenne Pepper. It burns but will clot any wound. It is available at most groceries stores or by the pound at Amazon. If you need to plug a hole or bad cut use a tampax or pads. This will do as well as the kits. Keep lots and lots of duct tape on hand. Can't say enough about that. Also rolls of plastic sheeting. Recently immobilized a friends leg with sticks and duct tape to get him to emergency care. I am looking for suture needles of various sizes. I use to have a set and can't seem to find them. We did most of our own veterinary work and would buy a lot of supplies from vet suppliers including scalpels and blades.

I routinely use www.buyemp.com

They have a wide variety of medical supplies. As a cpr/first aid instructor, I help a lot of people put their own kits together. If you sign up for their email, they regularly run sales like " 10% off" using their special email code.

I've shopped around and their prices are comparable, if not cheaper, to other sites.

Been using them for almost 10 years and never had a problem with an order.

Does anyone know of a place that sells single, sterile surgical trays with whatever instruments necessary to do simple procedures like stitches? I don't want a case of 24, even though I might same day need that. I am assuming that I would have to buy sutures and syringes separately. Do you need a prescription for something like that?

Once or twice upon a time, I was able to buy suture kits, scalpels, hemostats, bandages, etc, in the more complete military surplus catalogs.

Just another place to check.

I *used* to have a medical web store,, and Josie, I could have met your needs. Alas, since relocating to AZ I am far removed from my suppliers, and no small part of my stock is stored back in the Midwest. IOW I have been out of the business for more than a half dozen years.

I would like to ask, though, how many on here would be interested in accessing a medical supply that had preppers in mind?

I've used vet med more than once without a problem.

I secure my suture kit materials from my local army surplus. I prefer stainless steel to those plastic disposable suture kits that are clumsy to use and impossible to autoclave to sterilize. The date for maintaining the sterile state of those kits is short (probably due to the porous paper cover on them) and if they needed to be autoclaved again due to expiration date or contamination from liquids or moisture wicking in, you'd be SOL with those little plastic kits.

I get my H2O2, gloves, ace wraps, gauze etc, from Chinamart (Walmart). Can't beat their prices, that's for sure. Shipping is prohibitive on liquids (heavy!). And peroxide is cheap. Just today I paid 88 cents each for the big bottles at Chinamart. They are nearly that cheap at the chain drugstores like Walgreens and Rite Aid.

I make most of my own salves and ointments, but the few commercial products I keep on hand, I purchase online at Amazon.

I have a pack pf Quick Clot type sheer strips, like band-aids.'

Anyway. Gerage sales and Craigslist.
From a garage sale I got 20 CASES of 4x4s, sponges and guaze, Each case had abput 24 of the largest 4x4 boxes that you would find ay walmart.

Seems this mans mother was diabetic with other diseases and had to have constant wound car 2 or 3x a day. She passsed on and in the garage was a BIG pile of cases of supplies. I paid $1 a case for them.

I agree on the pet supplies by the case. Strech gauze is good stuff. The sticky Vet Wrap is great!

I use healthykin.com Great place to order from. They have a large assortment of kits, bandages, supplies, etc. They are located in Georgia (at least that's where my stuff comes from). They have a great price on diabetic testers and supplies. Worth a look

I've used http://www.chinookmed.com/ a couple of times. They specialize a bit more in the military/police/first responder type kits - but they have a list of individual supplies. Everything I've gotten from them is high quality and they have fast shipping.

DANG!! The story of my life...day late and a dollar short!!

I think there would definitely be an interest RR for accessing the med supplies, RR.

I too, would like decent metal instruments. I know that just trying to get a splinter out with cheap or plastic tweezers would near to impossible for me. And my guess is that just trying to sterilize with boiling water would probably warp the plastic.
