Mark. Please step back minimally from the "JINGO" spicket of the serving bar. ;)

If one looks back on how the Soviets, and Tsarist Russians, and Russians from even further back in History used their cannon fodder, they have only JUST gotten to the part of things where they are JUST ready and prepared to actually BEGIN to SERIOUSLY fight.
They had to lose almost what they have lost to dig in (Leaning FORWARD, and not BACKward) and finally start hitting at their weight.

Historically speaking they have made a hash of their first 14-18 months (in more than Uke) and then turned it around.

Now running for Emperor.
I think that Russia is fighting a covert war with the US/NATO (in the Ukraine), which is not a third rate military.
Everybody knows its a Proxy War... A Proxy War being fought by mouth-breathing idiots.

If the conflict was to become actual Western militaries (mostly the U.S.) against the Russians, the Russians would get their asses handed to them on a Biblical scale. And THAT, is the scariest thought of all: the Russians KNOW they would lose a conventional conflict against the West (and so do the Hawks in the West), we REALLY need to avoid that fight.

I'm not as confident. How many military aged males haved crossed our border? How many have crossed Russia's?

But, let's say you are correct, what then is the incentive to keeping it conventional?

That being said the Butcher's Bill would still be substantial.
True - 90,000 NATO Troops sounds impressive till you realize Ukraine is losing that many every 3 Months. (per their current statements)

How many 100's of thousands of EU and US troops are we willing to Butcher over a border dispute that has ZERO impact on any of our lives. Ukraine was not historically called the BLOOD LANDS for no reason.

Who's the bone head who thought it would be a good idea to put 90,000 troops and equipment next to Russia while she's at war with the ukes? The damned Russians have always been paranoid since they always seem to get run over by the feisty Europeans. It's a history thing with them.

Lately I wonder if we're not the bad guys. Stupid, for sure. We're going to pay a dear price regardless.
Well 20+ million lost in the last dust up with Europe - might make anyone a bit paranoid.
Well France attempted to Run Over them - did not work out too well
Germany gave it a try - but months later Russian Troops in Berlin
Looks like maybe the US wants to give it a spin. Good luck with that.

THAT is the risk.
YES - if this goes HOT US vs Russia all the Pro War crowd should be aware - US Source of Info.

The U.S. nuclear arsenal is inferior to Russia and dangerously outdated due to insufficient funding and behind schedule for renewal, according to Roger Wicker and Debra Fischer, ranking members of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Rules and Administration Committee.

They say U.S. security depends on the timely deployment of the Sentinel ICBM, but Biden's economic policies and weak military support have left the program facing staggering inflation and shortages of critical technology suppliers, skilled labor and materials.

The senators also acknowledged that Russia controls “the world’s largest nuclear forces,” including “almost unlimited range” intercontinental ballistic missiles.

"The Kremlin boasts a ten-to-one advantage over the United States in short-range tactical nuclear weapons, as well as intercontinental nuclear torpedoes and cruise missiles," Wicker and Fisher wrote in a column published in the Wall Street Journal.

NATO to simulate a nuclear conflict with Russia during months long drill which is NATO's most substantial preparations for war with Russia in decades.

Hasn’t that tub been under repair for quite some time. I think it had to be towed home from the last NUTSO excercise.

HMS Prince of Wales had a propeller shaft failure last year.

Apparently it has been repaired.
