The very wide-spread and common Mullein plant is supposed to be good for lung issues.

Mullein is of greatest benefit in helping the respiratory and urinary tracts. It is used as a mild diuretic, and for urinary tract infections, including bladder infections and chronic cystitis, and prostate inflammation. It is an effective bronchodilator and expectorant with some efficacy against Klebsiella pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus, and as such is an excellent adjunct for pharmaceutical antibiotic regimens for upper respiratory infections. It also combines well with lomatium.
My father told me that his mother knew what they used to call "Indian medicine in PA). Mullein grows wild around here. Interestingly, dad told me that his mom used it for coughs.

NObody Is commenting on BROMELAINE.
Bromelaine will thin and break up the MUCOUS that KILLS COVID lung patients because thick mucous they cant cough up finally fills up their lungs, leaving no room for air.
Bromelaine is from PINEAPPLE CORES but you cant always get pineapple so buy Bromelaine capsules! BROMELAIN IS DESTROYED BY HEAT LIKE VITAMIN C,

THE BEST PINEAPPLE TO GET IS FROZEN PINEAPPLE JUICE., canned juice has the heat of canning which destroys most of the Bromelaine.

I'd added NAC to my daily protein/supplement concoction shake months ago, getting it from here...
N-Acetyl L-Cysteine (NAC)

Some science on it helping alleviate common lung issues here...

FDA threatening to restrict sales of it, amazon already banning,
if you want to add it to your health arsenal, get it while you can.

Do you have a direct link (on Amazon) to a product that is the real NAC? The first page of the search you posted contained no real NAC products.

It looks to me like Loretta (post# 82) is correct. At best, Amazon is suppressing NAC sales via search results. Worst case, they are intentionally confusing it with other, similar sounding products.

This was in the Horsemen post ( see the things you miss by not checking it out? ). I think it needs a wider audience, thus it's own thread.

N-ACETYL CYSTEINE (NAC)

Starts at 23:55 and runs about 30 minutes.

There is an over the counter supplement that costs about $8.00 for a bottle of 100 and just started Phase 2 clinical trials as an effective treatment for covid. It's an amino acid called N-ACETYL CYSTEINE (NAC) and has been sold for over a decade.

The FDA just classified it as a drug, not a supplement, and banned it's sale.

A Study of N-acetylcysteine in Patients With COVID-19 Infection

N-Acetylcysteine to Combat COVID-19: An Evidence Review

Studies show N-Acetyl Cysteine supplement can possibly protect patients against COVID-19

N-Acetylcysteine as Adjuvant Therapy for COVID-19 – A Perspective on the Current State of the Evidence
Currently, there have been several clinical studies to measure the effects of N-acetylcysteine on viral respiratory tract infections. A randomized controlled trial demonstrated long-term N-acetylcysteine regimen resulted in significantly lower episodes of influenza and influenza-like illness, disease severity, and duration of confinement to bed due to respiratory diseases. Only 25% of the virus-infected subjects in the N-acetylcysteine arm developed symptoms compared to 79% receiving placebo

A Study of N-acetylcysteine in Patients With COVID-19 Infection
The study researchers think that a medication called N-acetylcysteine can help fight the COVID-19 virus by boosting a type of cell in your immune system that attacks infections. By helping your immune system fight the virus, the researchers think that the infection will get better, which could allow the patient to be moved out of the critical care unit or go off a ventilator, or prevent them from moving into a critical care unit or going on a ventilator.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved N-acetylcysteine to treat the liver side effects resulting from an overdose of the anti-inflammatory medication Tylenol® (acetaminophen). N-acetylcysteine is also used to loosen the thick mucus in the lungs of people with cystic fibrosis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This study is the first to test N-acetylcysteine in people with severe COVID-19 infections

I keep it around, but lately the shelves have been stripped in all the usual stores. But then I was in a Natural Grocers looking at the empty shelf and having a good conversation about its use with one employee ... when another popped her head around the corner and thought that maybe they had some in the back. Yep. So maybe they're keeping it back there to prevent neckbearding. FWIW.

Has the same experience at Natural Grocers

See if you can double the order to get free shipping. Or add a bottle of Quercetin.

edit - not everyone wants to bulk up an order to get free shipping. That's just something I do. I'd rather get extra "something" instead of paying extra for shipping.
Prolly too late. Good idea though.

Well it's been called natures' valium; I like it for relaxing muscles/tummy pain-
or did, now I just use cats and pots o' tea- they smell a bit better : )
That’s a potent herb! My wife gives it to me for migraines. Works really well. I think it’s what Valium is derived from.

I was on Ebay and I didn't know the NOW NAC was from China!!

I always thought they were produced in the USA. I'd be suspicious there might be graphene oxide put in these pills.

Not anymore: https://www.nowfoods.com/now/nowledge/sourcing-high-quality-ingredients-around-world

From NOW CEO Jim Emme: “We’re focusing on developing direct sourcing relationships with supply manufacturers around the world, so we have more control over quality before the ingredients arrive at our facilities and undergo quality assurance testing.”

Where do NOW ingredients come from?
We source ingredients from all around the world, based on the highest quality and best value available. Rest assured, NOW controls the quality of the raw material that we use regardless of the country it comes from. We have found that country of origin is not a reliable gauge of quality or safety. Rigorous testing can eliminate any tainted sources regardless of where they came from. We rely on the tried and true method: rigorous screening and auditing of suppliers, followed by extensive identity and safety testing of the raw material per our own strict specifications. For example, we routinely test for not only identity but also for purity, heavy metals, pesticides/agricultural chemicals, and possible adulterants including pharmaceuticals. Controlling our supply chain by these means is far more reliable than simply generalizing about a country or countries without any data on the actual supplier, its certifications/audits, or test results on its materials.

Does NOW exclude ingredients from any specific countries?
In order to avoid ingredients from a specific country, such as China, one would eliminate virtually all of the world’s supply of certain vitamins, such as vitamin C and many of the B vitamins. These include some of the exact same vitamins used in food fortification, which frequently come from Chinese sources and which we all likely consume daily in packaged foods. It is unlikely that we can avoid them completely, nor is it necessary. In the end it makes no difference where our suppliers are located as the qualification process is the same. We rely on rigorous audits by highly knowledgeable people to assess the capabilities and compliance of our suppliers. Then, we validate the effectiveness of their quality systems through testing before adding them to our approved supplier list – so that our purchasing team can procure raw materials from them. Our ingredients, regardless of country of origin, have been thoroughly monitored for quality and safety, and we don’t compromise on either.

On The Level
My former D.O. turned me on to this stuff a couple years back. Never tried it because stomach issues and didn't want to add it in. Had some Sunday and felt unusually well. Guess I've got to try more and see how I feel. Have a 250gm pouch of the stuff I just opened.

Anyone been taking NAC long term?
