ALERT My encounter with what appears to be Syrian Refugees.

I live in a small town in MA, Haverhill, and tonight it appears that a mother and two children were hanging out in the hallway of my building. I confronted them and one of the little boys came running at me saying "Hola, Hola"! The mother was freaked out and grabbed the two kids and tried to run out the side door but then 4 Middle Eastern men all of a sudden came out of the elevator and called to the women to come back to them and they were scurrying like rats who were in the path of a cat's jaws. The Women with the two kids took off down the other end out the door with 3 of the men and the 4th man I have no idea if he went into the elevator or just hid. Someone must have just recently moved in and are possibly helping them to settle here. The info below is extremely helpful in knowing how this is going to work. :sht::sht::sht::dstrs::kk2:

I did some research about refugees in MA and found this on the Ascentria Services site:

Frequently Asked Questions

How do refugees get here?
Refugees are people who have fled their home countries due to persecution involving their race, religion, national origin, political ideology, or being a member of a certain social group. Refugees are screened and processed to come to the US under the auspices of the United States State Department.

How long does Ascentria Services for New American provide services to refugees?
The resettlement period established by the US government is six months. Ascentria Services for New Americans, operating under contract with the US government, provides the most concentrated array of services during the initial weeks following arrival. Refugees are encouraged to become self-sufficient as soon as possible—including learning English and becoming employed. In most cases, the need for services diminishes after the first three or four months. However, Ascentria Services for New Americans frequently provides services above and beyond what is required.

What services does Ascentria provide for refugees?
Ascentria Services for New Americans provides case management, health case management, cultural and community orientation, employment services, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) instruction, and supplemental support through the volunteer program.

Are refugees allowed to work?
Yes, in fact refugees are encouraged to be employed within four to six months after arrival.

Do refugees pay taxes?
Yes, when refugees start working, they start paying into the tax system.

Do refugees choose to come to the United States?
No one ever chooses to become a refugee, and refugees are grateful for the opportunity to start their lives over in safety and security. Some may be pre-determined to come to the US to join family members who have come before them, while the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees (UNHCR) refers others to the US.

How much financial assistance do refugees receive?
The Federal government provides $925 per refugee to cover the costs of housing, household goods, food, and pocket money for the first 30 days. Beyond that, refugees may qualify for other public assistance programs such as Match Grant (an early employment program), TANF, or Refugee Cash Assistance.

How long can refugees stay in the US?
Refugees may stay in the US indefinitely. They are provided with a pathway to citizenship and usually can apply within five years.

What rights do refugees have?
Refugees have the same rights and responsibilities as US citizens. However, they cannot vote until they become a citizen, and they cannot hold certain elected offices.

What level of English do refugees have?
Refugees have varying levels of English proficiency when they arrive--ranging from little or no proficiency to fluency. Most often, even those refugees who have very good English speaking skills need some assistance perfecting pronunciation, grammar and comprehension skills.

What types of jobs do refugees get?
Due to language barriers—or professional skills that do not easily transfer to the US job market—many refugees start out in entry-level jobs while they are working on their language skills or other job-related certifications. Refugees are required to take the first job that becomes available to them.

Can refugees go back home?
Refugees have freedom of movement. However, if they return to their home country they may jeopardize their refugee status. Refugees must apply for a Refugee Travel Document through Immigration to travel outside of the US.

Are there medical conditions that exclude refugees from coming to the US?
Yes, there are certain medical conditions that are excludable. These include active (not positive) TB, extreme mental retardation, and Hansen’s disease.

Can refugees become citizens, and if so, when?
Yes, refugees may become US citizens after they have been in the country for five years. They must first apply for permanent residency after one year in the US.

Can refugees file for their families to join them?
Yes, refugees from specified countries may file for certain relatives to join them in the United States. Ascentria Services for New Americans assists refugee clients with this process whenever possible.

Can refugees afford their apartments?
While it is certainly very difficult to start over again, the majority of refugees transition to self-sufficiency within a short time after arrival. Like others with limited income who are just getting on their feet, setting priorities is crucial for refugees. Ascentria Services for New Americans assists refugee families with applying for subsidized housing when appropriate.

Does Ascentria Services for New Americans work with volunteers?
Yes, the work of Ascentria Services for New Americans depends heavily on local volunteer, in-kind, and private financial support to assist refugees in the resettlement process. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator in your area to find out how you can get involved.

• Western MA – Leonid Shut, 413-787-0725
• Central MA – Beth Singley, 774-243-3027

Are refugees an economic drain on the community?
The economic impact of refugees on local communities is very small. Refugee Resettlement is a federal program designed to temporarily host refugee families while they transition to self-sufficiency. Because the program is only partially funded by the government, Ascentria Services for New American depends on local volunteers, in-kind support, and cash donations. City and county benefit programs are not used with regularity, but may be accessed as a last resort.

How many refugees access city welfare?
The majority of refugee families do not access city welfare. However, like others in the community who may face significant financial challenges, refugee families are eligible to apply for such assistance. Overall, refugee families represent less than 10 percent of those applying for city welfare.

Are refugees the same as other immigrants?
All refugees are immigrants, but not all immigrants are refugees. Refugees are allowed into the US by the federal government for humanitarian reasons, and receive temporary financial support. Other immigrants come to the US under different criteria and must show that they will be self-supporting before they enter the US.

Do refugees take away jobs from US citizens?
Historically, no. Due to language barriers and employment skills that may not transfer easily to the US job market, many refugees initially take entry-level positions that do not require English proficiency. Also, many refugees work two or more entry-level, low-wage jobs so that they may become financially stable and independent.

This whole thing blew my mind.

Would Syrian kids have learned Spanish before coming here for some odd reason?

Maybe they were told their destination was messico?

I have read that the Middle Easterners coming across the Mexican border are told to speak Spanish to appear as Mexicans. The mother appeared to be deaf by the way she attempted to speak and gestured to her ears. She was really scared.

Under that plan, I see that refugees can return to their homes - don't they become returnees then, and no longer refugees. If it is safe to go home, they should be home.

Just Bizarre! I think Obama has had the plans for a long time. Things are just too established for the suddenness of all this refugee movement. Yeah, Hope and Change alright.

Unless these are some of the sand dindus being shuttled in through our Southern border so as to avoid scrutiny at normal ports of entry.
At the scale and in the manner in which this is reported to be taking place, it would have to be with the full knowledge of DHS, and thus, Obama.

They are allah's dirt turkeys all right. The few kids are being taught to say "hola" and the few women are being taught to act deaf if confronted.

It's all been planned and caused by our government.

I noticed that the document you posted failed to answer the first question. It never says HOW these "refugees" get here.

I'm guessing first-class on Air Force One :)

But this is no way a safe confrontation. All of them should be locked up and investigated. This is no way for anyone to live. I don't care how many "men" (breeders or scum bags) they have. If it's late, children should be home and not mixed up in this type of encounter. They pose a danger to everyone concerned, the bystanders as well.

I get a little tired about Obama having this and that plan. Look at any Western country and one will see the same Muslim resettlement program in place. Also one will see Agenda 2030 in place that was called Agenda 21 up to a month ago.

What is happening is an world wide program unfolding that will bring in a One World Government. Looking at Agenda 21 plans it doesn't seem that the United States is planned as the center of things.

He promised to "fundamentally change the US" .....
And he certainly has

Obama has been the most sucessful President ever. We may not agree with them but no Speaker (Pelosi) or President (Obama) has accomplished as much legislation, culture change, treaties, or growth / intrusion of government, destruction of industry banking military education as these 2 have manipulated since 2006

We had a bunch of folks go to one of those refugee settlement meetings in the local area. First off, one of the muslim men tried to prevent John Q citizens from entering. He did not succeed. The information given was the same as reported above. The agency handling the meeting did not do well with questions. When asked if there were any Christians arriving the answer was "No, the Christian's in the area, are in hiding." (Yeah, right, they are dead.)

Two take aways: 1. This is a planned invasion; 2. The American people have had enough. This is part of Obummer's final push to change America into a third world country. I was very encouraged that citizen groups are springing up all over the place in middle America.

The prez and his cadre in .gov, have stepped in it big time. No wonder they want to bring in the UN.

Yup, speak Spanish, play deaf. Haverhill is interesting with proximity to NH. Outward Bound, like the expansion westward from NJ, dipping their toe into waters across the stateline into Allentown, Pa. NH, be alert.

Lucky that you're female - if these people were Muslim and those guys came back to their women anywhere near a strange guy - dogfood .... if a guy does manage to live, good chance you'll face Holder justice and time in a Obammy Fed slammer ....

Let's Go Brandon!
The third world invasion of all Western European nations,
and of the USA is far worse than anyone on this board,
or anyone who is awake to this invasion, could even begin
to imagine.

The third world is massively moving north,
and only a force of arms is going to stop them.

IMHO, in the USA that means Civil War II,
which is going to go hot before November 2016.

Regards to all,

Two snips that seriously jump out at me:

So the feddies make it HARD for them to go home. SICK CRAP! Invasion!

WTFlock is going on with these different "Christian" groups?

From the link above: hxxp://www.ascentria.org/frequently-asked-question-about-refugee-resettlement-1

First off, they changed their name from: "Lutheran Social Services of New England" ro Ascentria Care Alliance. Why are all the major Christian denominations all wooing muslims? Catholics, Protestants, the whole lot?

Next, I love the response of how they get here: "Refugees are screened and processed to come to the US under the auspices of the United States State Department." Anybody want to take a guess and list the ways? I'm betting the southern border, the northern border, and the military bases around the world.

Other interesting tidbits:

Do refugees choose to come to the United States?
No one ever chooses to become a refugee, and refugees are grateful for the opportunity to start their lives over in safety and security. Some may be pre-determined to come to the US to join family members who have come before them, while the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees (UNHCR) refers others to the US.
Now we get a glimpse of who is sending all of these people.
And with the Pope's love of all things UN....

What rights do refugees have?
Refugees have the same rights and responsibilities as US citizens. However, they cannot vote until they become a citizen, and they cannot hold certain elected offices.
Welcome to the armed/arm-able insurgency...

Can refugees file for their families to join them?
Yes, refugees from specified countries may file for certain relatives to join them in the United States. Ascentria Services for New Americans assists refugee clients with this process whenever possible.
And over there, a "Family" is not just "mom&dad", so for every 1,000 shipped in, expect 10K-20K more headed here ASAP.
Welcome to the INCREDIBLY LARGE armed/arm-able insurgency...

NOT looking good folks, not at all.

For those who are convinced that there are moderate, harmless refugees, take note of LoupGarou's post. Are they vetting the family members as thoroughly (that's a laugh) as the original refugees? Do they just check a box on a form and sign it, stating they are not part of any Islamic extremist group? And just trust them to tell the truth?

If the gov isn't going to do their due diligence to keep the unwanteds and violent out - how do you expect the average American to be able to tell them apart? When it could be instantly deadly to not be able to?

These refugees, coming from what can euphamistically be called a 'high risk' area, do not get due diligence. The State Dept has already said that. Once they are here, no one dare question their status, because dats' raciss!

Get in touch with the landlord and get specifics. Does s/he know about this? If so, and he is getting kickbacks, move ASAP. That is exactly right: women are lower than dogs and get raped. You are no longer safe there.

If this happened without the LL's permission, you are still in danger, but they might be moved along.

This is why renting is so dangerous these days.

Just as a point of interest---

what "is" the "traditional" greeting Syrians, Saudis, or Muslims of any ilk generally give ONE ANOTHER? (or does it differ from country to country?)

In other words, is/are there general Arabic "greetings" used between two people who both speak Arabic, who do not already know one another, when they meet?

Also, what are the common Arabic words for "wife", "husband", "mother," "father," (is it Abba? I know that's the Hebrew word for "daddy" and the two languages are closely related). What are the words for "son," 'daughter," "come here," "get back," "yes", and "no"?

You see, I could look these up online, but I'd get something in Arabic script that I'd have no idea how to pronounce. But I DO know what "Spanish" sounds like on the street---as well as French, German, and Italian. It would be good to know enough of Arabic to be able to positively identify whether "immigrants" you overhear talking are speaking it.

Ah, I saw a three-some of loverly Lutheran "refugees" at Wally-World one night last week while taking a family member there to shop (at their request as I LOTHE Wally-World). They were speaking a language I didn't recognize and were able bodied; all three walking in on their own. One of them decided a handicapped cart was the way to go and he was smiling as he pulled away on it. All three kept looking at me and the family member. IDKW. I am modestly dressed - always wear a long skirt (once had a neighbor kid ask me if I was Amish - boy did I get a laugh out of that one) and am older...so I don't know if they were trying to figure out what the family member was doing with me (a swarthy individual in contrast to my pigmentally challenged self) or what the draw was. I kept indirect surveillance of them as I just really don't trust them in any form.

Had another one at a local store who tried to demand to be waited on while I was getting waited on. He loudly said: Is anyone working here?! I said loudly right back at him, "Yeah, she's waiting on me!!" Very pushy and had a wad of cash he wanted to Western Union. Very irritating. Unfortunately, I think irritation will be the least of our problems with these types soon.

In the old South and even the one I grew up in(1950s), a certain group kept order and drove out undesirables, troublemakers and miscreants. Kinda like the ones mentioned above... gone are the days.
