Ebola

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A patient in the Mid-South is in isolation and being tested for Ebola, Methodist University Hospital officials confirmed Sunday.

The patient, whose symptoms do not meet all of the qualifications for Ebola, was transferred from Methodist South to Methodist University Hospital early Sunday morning
.

Methodist University Hospital released the following statement:

This patient did not fit all of the screening guidelines, however we wanted to take an abundance of caution and have decided to place this patient in a special isolation room until we receive results from blood work that will tell us whether or not this patient has Ebola. Our associates have been undergoing extensive training and drilling, and we are well prepared to safely care for this patient.

Stay tuned to WREG for the latest on this story.

Thanks for posting this. Every time I read of a possible new case in the states, I get a feeling of dread - I don't think we'll ever get used to this.

I'm posting this because of the mention of ShepNewsTeam since I'm not that familiar with twitter, and it sounds plausible.

I can't shake the feeling that we are still dealing with the quite before the storm. But I'm not sure that it is just about Ebola.

As long as they let ANYONE loose in the US after being in West Africa in any of the countries that have ebola, there will be cases popping up. These people ARE going to lie to get in and get to wherever they want to go. We KNOW this.

This is not stopping anytime soon as long as no travel bans have been placed. The WHO reported this morning that there have been over 10,000 people infected so far. How many are already here with their bodies brewing virii and not in a hospital but out bowling and eating out, riding subways, etc ?

Patient being tested for Ebola in the Mid-South

Ebola

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A patient in the Mid-South is in isolation and being tested for Ebola, Methodist University Hospital officials confirmed Sunday.

The patient, whose symptoms do not meet all of the qualifications for Ebola, was transferred from Methodist South to Methodist University Hospital early Sunday morning.

Methodist University Hospital released the following statement:

Our associates have been undergoing extensive training and drilling, and we are well prepared to safely care for this patient.

So far the hospital is not giving any details on the patient possibly being treated for Ebola in Memphis.

A hospital visitor spoke with WREG’s Elise Preston and told her that hearing about a patient with possible Ebola was uncomfortable. That visitor has left Methodist South and took their sick family member with them.

Earlier this week leaders met to discuss what they would do if Ebola came to Memphis.

The Chief Health Officer for the Shelby County Health Department, Dr. Hellen Morrow told WREG “The minimum requirement would be a private room for a patient with its private bath. It does not need or be a negative pressure room.”
:scn:

Area hospitals have been training nursing staff and running drills.

New CDC regulations require every inch of skin to be covered with protective gear and every hospital to have an isolation area setup.

If someone is suspected of having Ebola, the county said they would be taken to whatever facility is closest.

However, there is no across-the-board plan for ambulances yet. Officials said they’re still looking at and considering different protocols.

Methodist will hold a news conference later today, but for now no questions are being answered.

Stay tuned to WREG for the latest on this story.

Ebola is a win win for the progressives in power, that is why they have insured it's spread.

If they lose this upcoming election they can declare a national emergency, round people up and keep obola on the throne indefinitely.

If they win, same as above, ebola is their insurance policy and these demons care not whom they kill and destroy.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A patient in the Mid-South is in isolation and being tested for Ebola at Methodist University Hospital is in stable condition.

Officials tell us the isolated area is separate from the main hospital on Methodist University Hospital Campus.

Methodist University Hospital released the following statement regarding the patient and the effectiveness of Methodist University employees:

Our experts have an alternate primary diagnosis that has been established, but in an abundance of caution, the team is still strictly following Ebola protocols to protect all caregivers and others. We are waiting for a definitive Ebola test result which we expect to receive this evening. We will report more as we learn more. Memphians can be proud of the expertise and teamwork that all have demonstrated, including local and state health departments and emergency medical personnel with whom we have collaborated. Our collective planning and training have prepared the team well.

So they know the patient has something else, but are continuing to treat as if ebola. Likely malaria? Could be both, though, I believe that's pretty common.

So they know the patient has something else, but are continuing to treat as if ebola...

Time to watch Part 1 of this 4-part TV miniseries by Stephen King again.

VERY instructive to watch how govt / both Fed & local work together to HIDE the extent of an outbreak---

(I think the scene where "national security" operatives break into a radio station & shoot the talk show host who is still telling the truth--this after society has degenerated pretty much to chaos--is in this first part)(ETA---yeah, it's there---at the 1:12:00 mark; a lady talk-show host with a show called "Speak Your Piece")

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv3gQfMgvVM&list=PLoXFirN9juVhRsANRtS2UojgPMjlghehH

(sorry about the russian subtitles; this is the only version I could find that did not have "unregistered user" written across the middle of the screen)

This is getting real close to home for me, as I am only 1 1/2 hours from Memphis.
Sure hope it is negative......

The thing is, all of these little blurbs, tweets and such about every little fever spike and slight illness of anyone who has traveled....they gonna go on endlessly until the thing is either eradicated completely, or it blows UP completely. We're gonna be chasing our collective tails for months! Personally, my adrenal glands can't take the ongoing feeling of being on alert that long :(

I hope its nothing but they sure take their sweet time about having these so-called news conferences, don't they.

Indy aint that far either and two weeks from now I'm gonna be driving through TN to Athens,Ga with my brother, to go see my mom. We will NOT be traveling without a spray bottle of bleach and tons of Chlorox wipes for whatever stops we have to make.

GAH!

unclean! unclean!!

Yeah. Sneezing....lots and lots, (lowgrade) fever and now I'm coughing a little. The only time I have been out of the house in the last week and a half was to take the oldest GS to the doc for an earache. People were sneezing...I didn't wear a mask...although I did sanitize my hands, etc.

Oh, I was healthy when I walked in; my sneezing etc started two or three days later.
