BRKG Malheur wildlife patriots, not guilty on all charges

I'm absolutely amazed at the outcome of the trial. I've been following it for a while now and I didn't think the defense was doing very well at all. The prosecutors seemed to have a pretty airtight case. (and federal conviction rates are also very close to 90% or higher in general) The only thing I can think of is somehow they managed to pull off jury nullification.

Someone was definitely pissed considering how their lawyer was treated afterwards. I expect them to go after him hard in retribution for this outcome.

I'm pretty sure that next time something like this happens they will go in waco style and just kill everyone to prevent a court outcome like this from happening again. You can't put dead people on trial after all.

A big middle fingers to the federal government, yea ! When the FBI and the Oregon State Police conspire to murder a whistle blower/ protester to cover up the misdeeds of the Secretary of State in collusion of the Justice department they are no longer a legitimate government but a criminal cartel. They must be brought to justice .Voting for Trump may be the only chance we have left to bring them down outside an open shooting war with the FBI , the U.S. Marshall Service and State Police . Lets not let them get us into a war with Russia to cover their tracts

7 days the jury was out. I promise you, it only takes one good man or woman to stick to their guns for this kind of outcome and GOD bless whoever it was.

Now, the feds don't like to lose these cases, they will simply turn around and find other reasons to go after theses people again and again, over and over till they put them away.

Still think you're free and america is red white and blue?

This injustice has been going on a long time folks, WE, ARE RUSSIA!

I'm also amazed! Federal Jury's are usually rigged! Most of the time they would convict a ham sandwich.

I do believe President Jefferson's observation has a chronological element to it. The former of which we have witnessed in the standoffs out west.

The latter of which can't be far behind after scenes like the courtroom after acquittal.

A sign that TPTB are loosing their grip on things.

Hopefully, this is a small drip that will turn into a trickle.

Trump's election may bypass this metaphorical progression and go straight to the dam breaking with a complete scouring of the valley below.

Two of the posts say the Aamons will have a trial Sept. 7...does that mean they are still going to be imprisoned for almost another year?

I haven't had as much time that I'd like to do a closer study of all the videos, etc. I plan to do that, a little later.

Holy crap! Ammon Bundy's lawyer Mumford asks the Judge to show him a detainer for Nevada, if not, his client should walk free. The Judge orders Marshal's to jump on and taze the lawyer for demanding proof of why he can't leave? Kangaroo court!

not reading anywhere that the judge gave the signal or orders to those marshalls - that kind of interaction between a lawyer and the bench isn't that uncommon - wondering if those marshalls were looking for an excuse to ruff somebody up

"Shocking Defeat" For Prosecutors, Anti-Govt Militant Leader Bundy& 6 Followers Acquited

In "Shocking Defeat" For Prosecutors, Anti-Government Militant Leader Ammon Bundy And Six Followers Acquited

In a shocking verdict, seven anti-government militants including Ammon Bundy, were acquitted in federal court of conspiracy charges stemming from their role in the armed takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon last winter in protest of the Bureau of Land Management’s treatment of the Hammond Family, as supporters cheered outside the courthouse.

Ammon Bundy, Shawna Cox, David Lee Fry, Jeff Wayne Banta, Neil Wampler and Kenneth Medenbach were found not guilty on all counts, however the court could not reach a verdict on Ryan Bundy regarding a theft charge.

As Intellihub adds, the group’s leader Ammon Bundy will remain in custody to later stand trial for another high-profile standoff which took place at the Bundy Ranch in Nevada where members of militia and the BLM pointed loaded rifles at each other.

The outcome marked a stinging defeat for federal prosecutors and law enforcement in a trial the defendants sought to turn into a pulpit for airing their opposition to U.S. government control over millions of acres of public lands in the West. Oregon Governor Kate Brown (D), who ordered the FBI to act swiftly during the occupation, was also unhappy with the verdict, nor were other local officials, like Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward who some have accused of violating the U.S. Constitution during the occupation.

Bundy and others, including his brother and co-defendant Ryan Bundy, cast the 41-day occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge as a patriotic act of civil disobedience. Prosecutors called it a lawless scheme to seize federal property by force.

The court sided with the defendants.

Jubilant supporters of the Bundys thronged the courthouse after the verdict, hailing the trial's outcome as vindication of a political ideology that is profoundly distrustful of federal authority and challenges its legitimacy.

"We're so grateful to the jurors who weren't swayed by the nonsense that was going on," defendant Shawna Cox told reporters. "God said we weren't guilty. We weren't guilty of anything."

As the seven-week-long trial in the U.S. District Court in Portland climaxed, U.S. marshals wrestled to the floor Ammon Bundy's lawyer, Marcus Mumford, who was tased after he argued heatedly with the judge over the terms of his client's continued detention.

The Bundys still face assault, conspiracy and other charges from a separate armed standoff in 2014 at the Nevada ranch of their father, Cliven Bundy, triggered when federal agents seized his cattle for his failure to pay grazing fees for his use of public land.

The outcome of the Oregon trial clearly shocked many in the packed courtroom. Attorneys exchanged looks of astonishment with the defendants, then hugged their clients as the not-guilty verdicts were read amid gasps from spectators according to Reuters.

Outside the courthouse, supporters celebrated by shouting "Hallelujah" and reading passages from the U.S. Constitution. One man rode his horse, named Lady Liberty, in front of the courthouse carrying an American flag.

The verdict came after four days of deliberations. One juror, a former federal employee, was dismissed over questions of bias on Wednesday and replaced by a substitute. The 12-member panel found all seven defendants - six men and a woman - not guilty of the most serious charge, conspiracy to impede federal officers through intimidation, threats or force. That charge alone carried a maximum penalty of six years in prison.

The defendants also were acquitted of illegal possession of firearms in a federal facility and theft of government property, except in the case of Ryan Bundy, for whom jurors were deadlocked on the charge of theft. The takeover of the wildlife refuge was initially sparked by outrage over the plight of two imprisoned Oregon ranchers the occupiers believed had been unfairly treated in an arson case.

The militants claimed they were also protesting larger grievances at what they saw as government tyranny.

As we reporeted at the time, the standoff led to the shooting death of one protester, Robert "LaVoy" Finicum, by police shortly after the Bundy brothers were arrested, and left parts of the refuge badly damaged.

More than two dozen people, in all, have been criminally charged in the occupation, and a second group of defendants is due to stand trial in February. Mumford told reporters he believed Ammon and Ryan Bundy would remain in custody for the time being but may be transferred to Nevada.

Four co-defendants were free on their own recognizance during the trial. A fifth, David Fry, the last of the occupiers to surrender in February, was released hours after the verdict.

As Shepard Ambellas notes, this case is a major victory for ranchers and Americans in general who surprisingly may still have rights.

Brian Cavalier, Ammon’s personal bodyguard, was sentenced earlier in the week to time served, 9 months, “but remains under a U.S. Marshals Service hold, and is expected to be transferred to Nevada, where he faces another federal indictment stemming from the 2014 armed standoff with federal agents outside controversial rancher Cliven Bundy’s ranch near Bunkerville, Nevada,” according to a report by OregonLive.com.

Comey the weasel totally destroyed the legitimacy of a formerly well respected .gov agency in his white wash of the Hildebreasts's transgressions.

Obama has pretty much destroyed the others during his tenure to date.

This court action should set well for the suits that the Finicum family have surely filed or will file.

Does anyone else feel God's hand moving?

Aayup

During the Malheur standoff, a lot of peeps said that it was all for naught.

The results of this trial say otherwise.

A damned difficult bet to make on their part tho.

The Vegas odds weren't in their favor.

So a heated argument justifies physical assault .... lawless does not even begin to describe the behaviour of the thugs employed by the federal government.

As I said earlier in this thread, it was a clear and GLORIOUS example of JURY NULLIFICATION. Much more of this is coming down the pike.

Thursday’s verdict in the Malheur Protest Trial sent a resounding message to everyone that the citizen’s reject the over reaching tyranny of Federal government.

The trial judge, Anna Brown, and the prosecutors repeatedly told jurors that crimes did not have to take place. All they were to determine is if the defendants had held a conversation about committing a crime.

Straight out of George Orwell’s 1984.

You no longer have to actually commit a crime, you just have to think about it, and maybe discuss it with someone, to be charged.

The trial had been stacked against the defendants from the beginning. The judge repeatedly ruled against them, beginning during jury selection. Allowing people into the jury pool that had obvious ties to the prosecution and rejecting anyone that might be sympathetic to the defense.
One juror was seated that had been a former employee of the very organization that was central to the charges in this case. Judge Anna Brown denied the requests of defense to remove the former BLM employee for bias stating that she felt he could be impartial. That decision came back to haunt her this week when the jury questioned this man’s bias in a inquiry to the court.

Can a juror, a former employee of the Bureau of Land Management, who opens their remarks in deliberations by stating ‘I am very biased …’ be considered an impartial judge in this case?

Brown made every attempt to keep this man on the jury before Marcus Mumford filed a motion addressing that very point. Brown was forced to replace him with an alternate juror.

When the deliberations began again on Thursday, it only took about 5 hours for the unanimous verdicts of Not Guilty to be announced. The jury rejected the government’s plan to hold people accountable for their perceived thoughts without ever actually committing a crime.

The jury must have seen the dangerous precedent this would have set for our country. No one wants to be charged for crimes they did not commit, but it is even worse to be charged for crimes that the government admits did not happen.

The repeated statements throughout the trial that this case was not about committing crimes but only about talking about it, was as scary to the jury as it was to the rest of the Nation.

Truth and Justice prevailed this week in Portland! The US Constitution triumphed!

The Federal government was sent a very clear message from ‘We The People.’

Not Guilty

What I said when the verdict first came out. The judge was a leftist bitch who was determined to punish patriots.

It was a courtroom temper tantrum after "jury nullification". Mark my words, that is what will be coming out later. The jury no doubt ignored the judge's instructions as to how to decide based on the evidence. Good for them. Good Patriots All.
