Not really. Fouci said that some locations around the country have the possibility of lifting restrictions. America is not monolithic, not all strategies or levels of strategies will apply.

I have not heard that. Where did you hear it?

I respect Dr. Fouci highly myself.
Sorry. I didn't get a name. I have CNN on while working from home. The talking head was interviewing someone right before the presser. They were talking about the fact that Fouci would be there and why he hadn't been there for the last two pressers. This person said that Fouci was thinking about bailing out of the committee because he feared the number of deaths that would occur from Trump's go to work next week ideas. It's my thought that if he did that he would be interviewed by everybody and Trump would lose that battle.

Notice the "going back to work" crap is gone. I heard that Fouci threatened to quit and go to the press. Trump would have been screwed. I know that some people here can't segregate his academia from his political taste and that is horridly childish. I don't like is associations with Hillary et al but the man is a scientific genius.
I wondered what happened, Nightwolf came in while I was watching and as I use headphones he couldn't hear them but he looked at Dr. Fauci and said,

"That man looks like he is trying not to cry!" and then said, "he also looks like a man who is seeing a train wreck coming and he can't get off the train or figure out a way to stop it."

Nighwolf finished with: "For an epidemiologist, especially someone his age, this is IT, The Big One and he knows what is likely to happen should current trends continue."

That was based on body language, facial expressions and foot shuffling; it was also while Trump was talking about being open by "Easter" ...

Later when it came up during the questions, I noticed that Dr. Fauci hid behind Trump when he started along similar lines again so his face could not be seen but I saw him (in shadow) hanging his head down.

Later when a reporter asked Dr. Fauci to answer a question about when certain areas of the country might be opened up and what would be the criteria, Trump answered instead, repeated what he'd already said on the topic and made it very clear that Dr. Fauci would not be answering the question.

I am in no way saying Dr. Fauci is perfect or that he is right on every point, but I just found watching this to be one of the most disturbing things I've seen on this topic in the last several weeks (the nursing homes full of dead people in Spain this morning were pretty upsetting to but in a different way).

Very interesting. I was listening to Cuomo's update today, and he is actually AGREEING with Trump that "we can do both," referring to restarting the economy and treating the virus. He says he absolutely understands that we can't tank the economy any more. He also mentioned something I've been thinking. Have we quarantined/isolated the wrong people? Rather than shut the entire country down, we should have isolated/quarantined/supported the older, at-risk patients and the others at risk. Basically, the younger, healthier people who get this do fine (with some exceptions.) Why should they stop working. Instead, they need to proactively stay away from those at-risk. We must, of course, under that scenario support those who would be isolated. But it would have been much more economical to support the small group of at-risk patients rather than the entire country. (Just so no one misunderstands. I absolutely believe we must care for the aged population and others at risk. I'm a respect-life-from-conception-to-natural-death guy.)

Anyway, my big takeaway from Cuomo's "presidential-looking" update is he actually AGREES with Trump. Now we'll have to see if the media ignores that.
POTUS and co. are walking on a tightrope. They are dealing with the usual blockades from Schmuck, Nasty, the MSM, etc, trying to keep Americans calm to avoid the mother of all chimpouts and attempting to weigh the pros and cons, death toll rates, and economic effects of continued shut down vs. slowly starting up the economy and saying go back to work.

I do not envy him. I'm glad he's in charge and not the Hildabeast. Anyone who is a praying sort, spare a minute or two for him and his crew.

UNVERIFIED: Did a quick search here and didn't find anything on this topic.

I heard on the radio this evening, that a doctor in NY, I believe it was, has treated over 400 patients with Choroquine and Zinc Sulfate, together with an antibiotic. All patients recovered within 5 days. The antibiotic was meant to deal with secondary bacterial infections. Interestingly Zinc is an anti-viral in and of itself. However, getting Zinc into the cell is the challenge. Got Coldeze? Ever heard of Sulfa drugs?

Jeez this topic is getting huge. Anyway, having not been able to find anything else regarding my post of information heard on the radio, I'm officially withdrawing the portion of the information regarding the possible Dr. and curing events. Not the science, as I do believe it to be valid. Just haven't been able to find a confirmation. Although Doc could by now be in a Star Chamber for having crossed paths with big Pharma.

So forget the portion stating cures. You know, like the pink elephant sitting next to you. Forget it. Don't think about it again. . . . .

Some tidbits from Indiana's press conference today:

Dr Kristina Box, Indiana State Health Commissioner, was asked today why we weren't getting any info, such as comorbidity, etc, on the patients and she replied because they were not coded yet. They were in the process of doing so and that information would be forthcoming beginning April 1.

She also talked about testing and said if people have mild symptoms and can self-quarantine at home, they will not be tested. If they require hospitalization, then they will be tested. (So we'll never have a good idea of how many cases we've actually had?)

There was some talk that I missed about a homeless shelter. A reporter asked about its location and she said they were not releasing that information.
State leaders provide update on COVID-19 including providing quarantine location for homeless

During a Tuesday afternoon briefing, we learned what the state is doing to protect the homeless population in Indiana.

The governor's office announced Tuesday that public and private partners set up a quarantine location for them. Eskenazi Health will staff it and the National Guard is going to provide security.

The location is funded by the Lilly Foundation, which gave the state a grant to help with COVID-19 relief efforts.

I think that Fauci "bought himself" two weeks -- to Easter -- without the "let's go to work" crap. He knows by then that we will have ten New York's across the country. You are correct. He looked horrified. He knows where we are going.

He’s trying to keep hope alive.
I think there is a difference between hope and deception. I get what he’s doing, and at first I More or less understood why. Now I feel like the situation has progressed, and his best route is to be honest and not sugar coat this. I’m not saying he needs to scream DOOM but for Gods sake, Im an adult. Respect that and be honest with me. But I realize my view is rare and lots of people want to be lied to. And the others can’t handle truth.

It's been all over the media. There were 26 people total.
1 died.
3 ended up vented
1 ejected before drug trial completion.
A good chunk of the 20 that remained in the study faired worse than those that didn't participate in the study.
The studies I’ve seen don’t look anything like this. Is this the hydrochloroquine and zpack work or something else? Is ”all over the media” equal to CNN? I’ll search around, but if you could offer a link it would be much appreciated.

Has No Life - Lives on TB
I think those hall passes will be used. There is no reason to lock down areas of the country where houses are a mile away from each other. Especially since schools will still be closed. But people from hot spots must've stopped from infecting them.

It will be a good motivator for people to follow the rules. If we just get the infection numbers down, quarantine will be lifted. Then when they go back up because people don't social distance. They go back up again.

Some businesses might just quarantine entire towns and their workforce. No in or out.

It sounds like to me, although didn’t hear it but like saying halfway through the surgery, your better now! Time to go back to work!
I get the feeling that Trump is back to where he was originally in February. He is panicked about what the epidemiologists are telling him that this will go on for months and is banning them from the room. He is hearing from business that they cannot restart if this goes on much longer, that many businesses, (particularly small ones,) will be dead if not restarted soon. There is also going to be a systemic chain reaction of everyone unable to service loans and Wall Street must be screaming about the constant downward trend of the stock market.

He has pinned his brand on a glowing economy and it is all falling apart. He has convinced himself that the death rate is really not that bad - failing to appreciate that this comes all at once like a bum's rush and the real victim will be our entire healthcare structure. Dead medical personnel and those infected with high viral loads and permanent organ damage are not coming back. The fiscal health of hospitals and clinics will be severely challenged. Insurance companies may be in collapse and new medical staff will take more than a decade to replace those missing.

As Chris Martenson says, it is a balancing act between extreme measures to stop infection while powering down the economy. Key is to know when to pull up on the economy to keep it from crashing in pieces.

I don't trust Trump's instincts. He favors the economy too much, as was seen in February when quick decisive action could have given us the option to throttle down and up in a series of smaller bumps. I think he is plugging his ears and saying "can't hear you."

At a couple of points where Dr. Birx was talking, it looked to me like Dr. Fauci was struggling to keep from laughing at what she was saying.

The other thing that they kept stressing out of this presser was that New York City is bad. And they recognize that many people are fleeing NYC in droves. They’re asking everyone who leaves the city to quarantine themselves so they don’t “seed” other areas with infection.

Yeah. Asking them. How many do you think will adhere to that? They need to cut that island off if they want any hope of stopping this thing from spreading deeply across the country.
been there and done that. What happened in Wuhan when 500,000 people left just before they did the lock down. Or you can look at the rich fleeing to there summer vacation rentals, or all the New Yorkers who went to their Hampton estates. I will say it again: Trump doesn't seem to understand in mid april when he is planning to do all this reopening he will be facing a massive increase in cases, several million in total. Trump may not be able to accept bad news and if so, he is going to crash and burn spectacularly.

Bottom line:

By restarting the economy too early (which is planned for April 6 in my home state of PA) - (which President Trump is indicating via tweets and
comments) :

Second disastrous wave is guaranteed.

A half-assed shutdown.

Should have learned this simple lesson from China... They tried sending their people back early and all they got for it were a bunch of new cases and had to shut everything right back down. It will be regretful if he tries rushing this...

Right now, on the local news (east cost US), they are comparing the exponential trajectory/graph, comparing China, Italy, Korea, and US. US, is by far the worst.

Of course, China numbers are suspect, and US testing only really began in earnest in the last week or two, but still, a scary graph!

it will all go to the corporations and the deep state elite, which will suck up 5.5 Trillion before the money is printed.

Source for the 26 people who used the drug with no result please.
I saw it on CNN. I saw it elsewhere yesterday. It doesn't matter. What does matter is that there is a significant double blind study going on now. 26 people is a no go in statistical analysis. For this, they need 100000 to see if there is efficacy. When they establish statistical efficacy another placebo study needs to be done to replicate the data. Sometimes there could be a 3rd study.

I listened to it, and that’s all they talked about was opening things back up and getting back to work. Only they extended the timeline to Easter. One journalist asked how the president can suggest encouraging Americans to pack their churches on Easter when it only takes one person to infect a whole county. Funny, but the White House live link cut off right as he was about to answer.
As I was watching, Trump had already ended the press conference before that question and was just about out the door. The reporter was one of several shouting after him.

New Yorkers Flood Florida – Governor DeSantis Writes Executive Order Requiring 14 Day Self-Quarantine…

Posted on March 23, 2020by sundance

Approximately 20,000 to 40,000 New Yorkers are currently arriving in Florida daily as they flee from the epicenter of the most explosive coronavirus outbreak. However, if the elderly are the most vulnerable; and if isolating the most vulnerable population is the best course of action; and with the largest population of older residents living in Florida; then why are New Yorkers allowed to travel to Florida?

According to data released by Governor DeSantis: Monday saw 190 direct flights from the New York City area into various Florida airports. If 150-200 people average per flight, that’s 28,500 to 38,000 New York metropolitan area residents arriving in Florida today.

In an attempt to mitigate the inbound infection spread, today Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed an executive order requiring all arriving New York and New Jersey residents to be screened upon arrival and self-quarantine immediately after arriving in the state. Not sure how policing compliance is possible.

I can show you how it is done correctly. That expat recumbent bicycle fellow from Ningbo China that fled to the US and then self quarantined, decided to take his family back to China. Given how the US was handling the virus, prospects looked better there than in the US. (Ningbo had very few cases.)

He took videos on his journey back. This is the last legs from Hong Kong to Shanghai and home. (They now are quarantined for 14 days separately in a hotel until they are cleared to go to their apartment.) China does not want reinfection from outside.
