I live in SE Missouri...... Schools have been out for over two weeks>>>I guess they just think this is a "holiday" and the kids are running WILD and of course every body here is on Meth, so who even HAS parents that give a CRAP! HUGE UNEMPLOYMENT, poverty ridden area and the only business is the DRUG business!

ioujc is not kidding about the area they live in. I LOVE MO, with a passion, but the description given is what it's like here...most in the small, very small towns, have no idea what's going on in the real world. And they don't care. Same in my area...there was a notice put out by Birx, I believe, that those in rural towns need to up their game before it's too late.

It isn't just SJW or snowflakes that think they can't get it and don't care...it's the rural areas where drugs are rampant and poor does even begin to describe how some live. Many extremely overweight, lots of health problems and that includes their kids. It's a real shame but when you try to suggest being more careful about touching things and hands, mouth, eyes, disinfecting...they look at you like: What? Why? I'm not too worried about it.

Annndddd....that's why we closed everything up over two weeks ago and if it takes another 2-4-6 or 8 weeks, or longer, we're all good. We are fighting a losing battle with some of these folk. All we can do is put them in God's hands.

About those seeds:

Canning jars and lids have gone to non-existent within the regular sources in my AO two+ weeks ago. My AO isn't garden time yet ( still 2-3 weeks for potato's, peas, lettuce, etc.) but the canning jars and lids seemed to start disappearing in late February, early March.

Ordered my normal order of seeds for this year's garden way back in December and got in early January. Ordered second batch all open pollinated as extra just in case two+ weeks ago and still waiting on two suppliers who HAVE NOT SHIPPED YET.

The selection of open pollinated seeds were greatly reduced by the time I got to my second order. Lots of sold outs.

Some of the seed companies are stating a month shipping lead time.

France sees its worst daily death toll

French health authorities have reported 418 new deaths, taking the total to 3,024. The country has become the fourth to cross the 3,000 fatalities threshold after China, Italy, and Spain.

The daily government tally only accounts for those dying in hospital but authorities say they will very soon be able to compile data on deaths in retirement homes, which is likely to result in a big increase in registered fatalities.

The health agency director, Jérôme Salomon, told a news conference the number of cases has risen to 44,550, an increase of 11% in 24 hours. Salomon said 5,107 people were in a serious condition needing life support, up 10% compared to Monday, an increase speeding up again after slowing for two days.

A Political Plan B: DNC organizers prepare contingency options for Milwaukee’s July Convention

Posted by Wisconsin Public Radio | Mar 30, 2020

With the Democratic National Convention less than four months away, committee officials say they are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and exploring a range of contingency options.

Joe Solmonese heads the 2020 Democratic National Convention Committee in Milwaukee where the event is expected to be hosted July 13 through 16. Solmonese said the committee will follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and state and local health officials in the days and weeks ahead.

On March 23, Governor Tony Evers announced he would issue a “stay-at-home” order in an effort to slow the spread of the new coronavirus.

Democratic National Committee officials did not elaborate on their contingency planning. The convention is expected to bring 50,000 people to Milwaukee and the surrounding areas.

“This is a very fluid situation — and the convention is still more than three months away,” Katie Peters, communications director for the committee, said in a statement. “We are committed to sharing updates with the public in the coming weeks and months as our plans continue to take shape.”

The Democratic convention is scheduled to be held in the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, where the Milwaukee Bucks play. It’s unclear when the Bucks and other teams might resume their games — with or without fans in the stands. But there could be scheduling conflicts if play resumes.

In addition, there are questions as to when and how the eventual nominee will claim victory.

Former Vice President Joe Biden has opened up a large lead in delegates over Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). But Sanders remains in the race and many states are postponing their primaries to keep large crowds of people away from polling stations. Several state primaries have been rescheduled for mid-June, less than a month before the scheduled convention. Some state conventions, where delegates are elected, have also been postponed.

Solmonese said the committee remains in constant communication with local, state, and federal officials responsible for protecting public health and security.

“Ensuring the safety of convention attendees and local residents is — and will always remain — our top priority,” Solmonese said in a written statement. “Every convention necessitates developing a number of contingency plans to provide for a variety of scenarios.”

Kohl's furloughing staff as it extends store closures
From CNN's Kate Trafecante

Kohl's will keep stores closed until further notice and furlough its staff, the company said in a release Monday.
Kohl’s originally planned to stay closed until at least April 1. The retailer now says it will extend that time frame to "protect the health and safety of our customers and our associates."

As a result, Kohl's will temporarily furlough store and store distribution center associates, as well as some corporate employees.

Kohl's employed 122,000 full-time and part-time associates in 2019, the company said in a filing earlier this month. The affected employees will continue to receive existing health benefits and will be provided with two weeks pay.
“Given these extraordinary circumstances, we are taking difficult and decisive actions to strengthen our financial liquidity and secure the financial position of the company for the long-term benefit of our associates, customers and shareholders," Kohl's CEO Michelle Gass said in a statement.
Gass will also forgo her salary during the crisis, the company added. Kohl's will draw down its entire $1 billion credit facility, cut expenses, and suspend share buybacks.

Macy's announced earlier on Monday it would also furlough most of its 125,000 employees.

COVID-19: New Jersey Lifts Ban On Gun Sales; Shops Can Open Starting 8 A.M. Tuesday

Updated:
Monday, March 30th 2020, 3:51 PM EDT

Image
Governor Phil Murphy said he is lifting the temporary ban on gun sales in New Jersey amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Murphy said he is reversing his executive order on March 21, which temporarily closed gun stores as non-essential businesses in accordance with federal guidance.

Many lawsuits have been submitted by gun advocates throughout the United States following the similar gun-sale bans.

"Gun sales will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday," Chief Counsel Matt Platkin said on Monday afternoon.

Gun shop owners will be able to conduct their business as usual at that point.

There are 198 deaths and 16,636 positive cases in total related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as of 1 p.m. Monday, according to the New Jersey Department of Health.

Thanks for this, jward! This is so interesting.

Since my Mom contracted TB ( England, 16 years old, three years in hospital in the 1940s, lost a lung, expected to die, saved at the last minute by what was then a new drug, Streptomycin) I received the BCG vax at 5 days old then again at 5 years old ( the age most kids got it) I remember the joy at not needing the booster shot, unlike all my class mates, at age 14. :) The elderly British couple who ended up in the hospital in Japan had very mild symptoms from the virus. I'm sure they will have had the BCG shot when they were kids.

Sure hope there's something to this!
It is things like this that make me believe the nurses and doctors really need to get together and explain, you no fixie now, we no workie when the SHTF. Be clear, explain what you need and make it clear that a hospital without doctors and nurses is just a giant building full of lawsuits waiting to happen.

Then we need to start breaking up these large corporations that claim rights as people when it suits them and then hide behind it's a corporation when it doesn't.

Finally some food for thought for these idiots. It is stunts like this that will in the end force socialized medicine on this country and quite possibly nationalization of these hospitals to remove the mentality of the most profits at all cost, even if customers and employees are going to die for these decisions. Or maybe simply changing the laws just a little that all C level executives are personally liable both financially and criminally when their decisions result in bad outcomes and the only justification was a slightly larger profit.
I cant believe it! This is the same experimental treatment my husband just got at the City of Hope for his bladder cancer. They put it up in his bladder for 6 weeks in a row. Wow! Do you think he will avoid getting covid-19?

Yeah, but his solution of tagging/identifying people that may be immune (that isn't a given as best I can tell) comes damn close to, please pardon my bringing religion into this, the mark of the beast. Granted he didn't take it that far and I totally get where he is coming from, but I can't help but think that they would make laws that one couldn't buy or sell things/food/etc without this identifier. It will put me in a real bind as I don't think I am willing to do that.
At some level, if you have a smart device, in particular, you already possess a real-time global marking and tracking device that is also used to conduct commerce, pay taxes, track shipments, check and track/record personal medical info, remember appointments, their address and phone, and a handy-dandy map to follow to that appointment.

THEN, there are the tracked entertainment aspects: what webpages you visit on Facebook, YouTube, etc., what links you select/click, how long you spend on each webpage, how many times you visit a webpage in a given hour/day/week/month/year, what you like for entertainment, and don't like, what games you play, etc.

From my county:

A second person has died from COVID-19 in Comal County, officials announced on Monday.
A man, who was in his 70s, died at his home last week. Postmortem tests determined he was positive for COVID-19. The man’s widow also tested positive for COVID-19 and is self-quarantining at home, officials said. The woman told officials that she and her husband had traveled out of state before they got sick last week. The man went to the doctor and was diagnosed with flu and strep throat, but was not tested for COVID-19 at the time.
Members of the Comal County Sheriff’s Office and Canyon Lake Fire and EMS who reported to the couple’s home on the north side of Canyon Lake have also been sent home to self-quarantine. County officials say none of the first responders is experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 to date.
As of Monday morning, Comal County has conducted 142 COVID-19 tests, with 11 positive cases, 88 negative cases and 43 cases pending.

First does anyone else feel like taking a 2 day nap and hope they wake up and this is all over???

So now comes the hard part (for most Americans) the waiting game. We want, no we demand instant service, instant delivery, instant entertainment, and an instant fix.

I got a tweet from Biology and Biology told me it really just doesn’t care what we want.

Can you imagine the unmitigated gall of Biology to interrupt our cushy western existence with something as mundane as a virus. It isn’t even defined as living cause it can’t reproduce. Has to hijack a live cell see there, the virus is a freaking cellular level terrorist. No wonder we are at war.

But most of us aren’t on the frontlines. The researchers looking for workable vaccine or medicines to treat, the healthcare workers all (Dr’s, Nurses, Respiratory Therapists etc...). We are the home front but we face the enemy every time we leave home. Hopefully the reason is not for some stupid crap, but there are real reasons.

We’ll when you go gear up, no matter that people look at you funny. Hell people were looking at me funny before I went out with mask and gloves (thats a whole other story).

So <blank> them, and <blankBiology you ain’t getting us. We are smarter than you and we can reproduce without hijacking well most of us anyway. I can watch Die Hard all freakin month, as long as the beer and chips hold out.

2-3 weeks ain’t nothing for another bundles of years!

Peace out people, we got this

Has No Life - Lives on TB
Italy figured out a great way of making their numbers go down.

#1 Only test people who go to the hospital. Anyone who dies as home or in a nursing home isn't counted.

#2 Announce that anyone over 60 will only get palliative care in a hospital. Which keeps sick old people at home. I

Most European countries seem to be doing the same. No ambulance pickups available for life threatening symptoms. No one wants to admit just how bad it is.

Something I noticed yesterday and today on both coronavirus tracking sites I've been following from this thread:

COVID-19/Coronavirus Real Time Updates With Credible Sources in US and Canada | 1Point3Acres and Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS

They're both listing the number of US recovered this morning as 4865. Thing is, just yesterday morning, the number was only in the triple digits. It then suddenly doubled to around 1500, then jumped again in only about ten minutes to over 2500. Yet I haven't heard anything in the media about a sudden jump in recoveries.

So is the media simply not reporting the recoveries, hoping to keep people freaked out over this? Are the sites fudging their numbers to make it look like more people are recovering than actually are? And where do they get their numbers from to report them?

I hope the numbers are accurate, but this does have me curious.
or the Hydroxychloroquine is working. (It takes 2-3 days to discharge. Full course is about 5 days

Are you sure about that?

The Italians have been doing that for quite a while, so the change in the numbers would be for different reasons.

New York City applied to the federal government for second disaster relief morgue
From CNN's Mark Morales

New York City has applied to the federal government for a second disaster relief morgue that is expected to be placed in Queens, a city official confirmed to CNN.

The exact location isn’t known yet and it’s not known when the city’s application will be accepted, the official added.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) previously said it received a request from New York and other states for assistance with mortuary operations. Hawaii and North Carolina have made similar requests.

On Monday, FEMA confirmed they have received a request from New York City for 250 ambulances and assistance from the Disaster Mortuary Operational Rescue Team (DMORT) for 85 refrigerated storage units and mortuary affairs teams.

Two experts from the DMORT have been deployed to New York City to “to serve as consultants for mortuary affairs and to help identify federal support needed in the area,” FEMA said.

CNN has reached out to FEMA for further comment.

the reason they cannot overcome this virus is that the "social justice warrior" has turned everyone into both a victim and a perpetrator and you are all instructed to hide in your homes from the invisible enemy.
personally, I believe that most people truly want to help one another. My proof? Civilization. Cities, Towns. People naturally congregate for economy and for pleasure.
What is the quickest way to stop this virus? Science. The science of stopping a virus is "quarantine".
How would it work? When someone gets sick, they get quarantined and their contact list is quarantined. And we have the technology to do it through cell phones, GPS tracking and social media.
This people get quarantined to their homes and everyone around them are notified.

Social Justice Warriors will not allow this because their stock in trade is fear. You must fear that YOU will be discriminated against if you are different, if you are quarantined.
But this fear is manufactured. In our natural state, we truly care about our neighbors. There are some bad people out there, but we would not be able to organize ourselves into communities if the majority of us were not peaceful and cared about our neighbors. The social justice warrior has you believing that if someone was identified as a corona person and quarantined they would be "left to die or taken advantage of".

The evidence is exactly the opposite. Doctors and nurses are working themselves to death. People are delivering food at risk to their health. Go look for yourself. You will see people helping people. The reality is this. If someone were quarantined in their home, their neighbors would deliver food to them. They would chip in and pay their electric bills. Paying their mortgage might be a stretch, but I could see that happening.

If people were quarantined, the disease would evaporate in 6 weeks. The only thing required for quarantine to work is for us to be . . . Americans . . . It is why social justice warriors are so repugnant, they want us all to be at each others throat.
Mmmm no. When you get to the stage of "community spread," no one knows where they got it and there are too many people to contact trace. It is that asymptomatic spreader issue and the problem that the Chinese gave us misinformation on where it could be spread through casual contact, by aerosol and how long it lived on surfaces. I watched the stage transition in Santa Clara where it when from containment to mitigation.

Ford will produce 50,000 ventilators over the next 100 days at a plant in Michigan, in the USA, the company has said.

Working in cooperation with General Electric’s healthcare unit, another 30,000 units can then be made per month, the Ford Motor Company says. The firm adds that the simplified ventilator design has been cleared by the US’s Food and Drug Administration, can meet the needs of most Covid-19 patients and relies on air pressure without the need for electricity.

Coronavirus Pandemic Update 46: Can Hot/Cold Therapy Boost Immunity? More on Hydroxychloroquine
•Mar 30, 2020 Dr. Roger Seheult

Dr. Seheult discusses compelling research on thermal regulation (hot/cold hydrotherapy with a sauna or contrast shower for example) and the potential immune system benefits to ward off viral infections - as has been used in many regions including Finland. A follow up on possible treatment with hydroxychloroquine, and recent trends in US COVID-19 infections are also discussed. Add in the WHO, which also parrots the same misinformation as China. See Chris Martensons last video. WHO is currently claiming not airborne. I'm really getting - China is actively trying to spread the Pandemic. Probable the CDC too.
