Who gets to decide whether or not nukes are 'necessary'? And what is their criteria for making such a determination.
It could be that Russia wants to send a message that makes a clear statement - not just a tit for tat - but a firm statement that says: "don't do it again."

It is the ultimate doom, and some always seem to get excited in an ancipatory way at whatever the latest doom scenario is. Not just this nuke stuff, but some come across as hoping for a societal collapse, war, or other unprecedented disaster. It is as if they think that out of the destruction will come a new nirvana better suited to their liking.
Mass psychosis, bolstered by left wing agitprop through media of all kinds. It is yet another major indicator of a diseased, self destructive narrative, fomented by one’s enemies.

Nuclear war will happen. Why? Precisely because it is insanely evil. We, the sane people of TB2K, cannot wrap our heads around it. It makes no sense. That is exactly why the murderous minions of satan will so eagerly push the button.

It will happen. It’s only a matter of when. Live close to God and then prep to the best of your ability.

Well, living 15 miles from a US NUCLEAR SUB BASE, Last night I celebrated my life by tossing my super budget on food ($3 or less a pound for dinner meat) and bought a (cheap ) steak ( haven't had steak in a year or more) a fancy bowl salad, some expensive fruit, and other treats.
I can't change it, can't run from it, a and can't worry about it and nobody in power gives a rip what this citizen thinks about it.
So, IN CONTRAVENTION TO "COMMON SENSE", I CHOOSE to live HAPPY, during the remainder of my life, having "prepped" far beyond what most preppers do. My comments reflect my concern for others, NOT MY WORRYING about my own personal fate.

There are a lot of people still living in the Cold War era comfortably oblivious that we won that war 30 years ago still believing the Soviet Union still exists and unable to recognize that the Ukrainians were not simply under communist tyranny - they were the communists with nuclear weapons point at the US.
What you have described is what "we" do to send messages.
Throughout this "we" have spent a great deal of time assigning to the Russians our character traits.
Kind of like when you assign human traits to you dogs.

I haven't seen any that (IMO) want it, but many are somewhat obsessed by it.
Perhaps that's because It's been a huge part of the Zeitgeist for more than two Generations; especially those of a certain age group (ahem, cough cough me cough)
Also, historically this has been a board that leaned toward Prepping - and since Nuclear war in all it's permutations represent perhaps the most challenging scenarios, it seems that it has been used as the ultimate touchstone for some - perhaps an unattainable goal to be prepared for that, but attempting to would prepare you for many lesser disasters.
I don't know if that answered your question, but there it is...
