Washington (CNN)—At least one veteran's group doesn't want any donations from Donald Trump's fundraiser for veterans.

Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America founder Paul Rieckhoff tweeted Wednesday that he would decline any contributions that came from the event, which Trump has proposed in place of his attending Fox News' debate this week.

"If offered, @IAVA will decline donations from Trump's event. We need strong policies from candidates, not to be used for political stunts," he said.

Trump stunned the political establishment Tuesday by pulling out of Fox News' GOP debate on Thursday. The debate is being moderated by Trump nemesis Megyn Kelly, with whom he tangled in a Fox debate in August.

Instead, Trump said he would hold a competing event to raise money for veterans and wounded warriors, "who have been treated so horribly by our all-talk, no-action politicians," according to a statement by his campaign. The event on Thursday, hosted at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, will start with a pre-program at 8 p.m. ET, and the main event will start at 9 p.m. ET.

Two other veterans' groups also distanced themselves from Trump's announcement.

The Wounded Warrior Project said it was not aware of the candidate conducting any fundraising efforts on its behalf.

Meanwhile, VoteVets.org, which calls itself the nation's largest progressive veterans group, issued a statement titled: "Don't hide from Megyn Kelly behind us."

Trump has tried to tie fundraising for veterans with debates in the past. He said he had considered skipping CNN debates in September and December unless the network donated to veterans' groups.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seems that Wounded Warrior project is being looked into (a poster here mentioned that) and might not be the best conduit for using that money raised. There has to be other smaller groups who would welcome some financing rather than those who spend so much money advertising on TV.

I know in Canada, there are several Vet groups and they supported opposing candidates vocally in the last Election......probably these groups don't support Trump at any time.

Interesting I don't view this as a political stunt, but rather a I have better things to do with my time. But if Mr. Rieckhoff would rather take gov't funds for his organization then more power to him. I, however, won't be donating to IAVA since they'd rather impose a tax upon the public for funding than take donor dollars. Dumbass.

There are several commiepuke veteran organizations, I remember one website but can't remember exact name - Veterans Today maybe? - rabidly commiepuke.

Interesting that Herr Trump is holding an event for Wounded Warriors and they don't know anything about it. How can this be anything but a political stunt?

IAVA and VoteVets are phoney liberal fronts using veterans as human shields.
The IAVA has betrayed vets by this partisan political act.

He hasn't said exactly how he's going to use the contributions.

Maybe he will set up a fund where groups can apply for help instead of donating directly to them. He's smart and he will use the money in a way that will best benefit the individuals.

And what snake Cruz and PAC are suggesting with the 1 on 1 debate (which they know they can't do) is not?

Trump holds an event, raises money...writes check to charity.

Seems pretty straight forward.
For native English speakers, Hair Trump would work, Here Trump is summoning ones dog, Heir Trump is a legal concept, and Herr Trump is formal German.
It must suck to be clumsy in both English and German.

It's big news here in Iowa, I'm not sure how WW wouldn't know about this. I'd imagine that Trumps team is organized enough that he would have reached out to WW before announcing doing a fund raiser for them. Or was his comment just that he'd be raising money for vets and WW presumed that it was them??? Now that would be interesting.

PS glad to see you got your German context straightened out.

Why not just donate his own money and attend the debate. Instead of this attention grabbing political stunt.

Tomorrow will come
If you have ever been around big money when they donate, you would know they get vetted. ABC's story has been debunked as well as the controller of the rating sight. The IRS took the non profit because of the funds the group raised the last time they had a function. Since WWP is one of Donalds favorite, I could see his crew getting the accounting in order and helping get the 501 back. We shall see.

Have you not read the other threads here today, yet, about Cruz's staffer being the son of a Mark Levin, and Rubios staffer being the daughter of a Fox News VP? (Note I may have those backwards). If not go read those articles and pronto!

Maybe he will also donate some of his own money.

Why doesn't your candidate donate his own money instead of offering up his PAC money in a farce 1 on 1 debate?

It's so funny to see FOX and the supporters of the other candidates throwing fits, making accusations, and calling Trump all sorts of names for NOT allowing himself to be ambushed.

Gosh, you'd think the other candidates would appreciate Trump giving them all that time to themselves on a major network!! :lkick:

Maybe this shows how important Trump is seen by everyone who is trying to marginalize him? ;)

TRUMP 2016!!! :usfl:

this is s #6 debate

Donating to vets not a new concept
The media has made mega millions and sky rocket ratings and donated nothing to charity

Trump has won every debate

Trump asked CNN to donate at first debate
nothing from CNN

Trump said the media is making unprecedented money on the debates

Actually, many could be pissed off that Trump isn't there and not bringing a large viewership. The ones polling in single digits need all the eyeballs possible on them. With Trump not there, millions won't watch, and these low level candidates won't be able to get their message out.

Sounds like a personal problem for the low level candidates.

And how do they try and get the Man who can bring in the viewers to participate in the "ambush debate"? By attacking him and calling him names. And "they" say he is not able to be Presidential?

Trump plays chess and the others play checkers.

I also love how the networks keep pulling out the Vets who don't support Trumps event tonight. Plenty of Vets do support it, but "they" making sure to not talk with them. And as a Vet, I support the event.

Donald Trump introducing a really cute guy (a 13-year Vet). :) Name is John Wayne Walding. He was a Green Beret. Boy can he ever give a great speech. He is a Christian. A plus. :) He lost a leg in battle. Did I mention he is real cute? Deep voice too. I like those side burns. Did I mention he is totally cute?

Here is a youtube with John.... I have not watched it.
