The good news is that We can ship the LED Flashlight to CA addresses. But the Berkey Systems can only ship to a non-CA or non-IA address.

Because of recent laws passed in Kalifornia that require sales tax to be collected on items sold in that state. Amazon.com usually terminates sales within any state that requires them to become tax collectors and additional record keepers.

At least this is the way I understand the new tax requirement impacting sales where Kalifornia can milk more money from sales tax.
Someone please correct me if I'm in error.

Of course you can, Scotto. Just pay for a sponsorship like BerkeyGuy (note the banner ad at the top of the page) and you can do exactly that.

It was a joke.
I'd love to get some of those Berkey filters, just can't afford it at the time.

The reason is that California requires testing of water filtration products before they can be sold. These filtrations systems have not been tested.

This is one of the best examples of over-regulation.

Back in January 2010, laws went into effect, that in essence say, if you have a product where human consumption of water is involved, it must be tested by the state of CA, or the labs they choose. More info is here:
www.directive21.com/california.html

This law is not a specific law targeting the berkey systems, but so general, as to cover the berkey systems.
