Not familiar with Relic's episode, but I've known a couple people who survived such and luckily even with their vision intact.
A couple others, however, did not. Survive, that is.
DKA (Diabetic Keto-Acidosis) is a real killer.

I thought I was doing good until I took my humalog without eating immediately, and found myself coming to, in front of five emts in my living room last Saturday.
Seems I got my bg down to a new record low for me…26. I read later that folks that hit that number sometimes don’t wake up…ever.
That scared the ever-loving sh*t out of me. Very fortunate that dearest Annie woke up from her nap early enough and found me unresponsive and called the cavalry to come save me…and they did.
Prayers for successful surgery, speedy healing and next level awareness of healthy decisions and management.
