Then who were all those guys (veterans) that were with Kerry on stage at the DNC?

I thought they were his "Vietnam boat crew"?
Only 2 of 'em were..both on his payroll.

FWIW..Nice connect-the-dots story on Hanoi Johny's communist connections back then..and why he joined the navy and swiftboats...

...in 1966 it looked like his draft number was coming up during his senior year at Yale University, and already having spoken out in public against the war, Kerry signed up with the Navy... He thought he'd arranged to avoid combat. "I didn't really want to get involved in the war," he later would tell the Boston Globe. "When I signed up for the swift boats, they had very little to do with the war. They were engaged in coastal patrolling, and that's what I thought I was going to do."

There were no draft numbers in 1966. The draft lottery system in the Vietnam era did not begin until around 1970. I will do some research in the AM for the date that the lottery cranked up. The other thing is that he was currently enrolled in Yale University. Currently enrolled students with a passing GPA did not get pulled out for the draft in 1966.
Given their facts, I have to question the entire article.

edited to add from the very first Google hit:
http://www.sss.gov/lotter1.htm
A lottery drawing - the first since 1942 - was held on December 1, 1969, at Selective Service National Headquarters in Washington, D.C. This event determined the order of call for induction during calendar year 1970, that is, for registrants born between January 1, 1944, and December 31, 1950. Reinstitution of the lottery was a change from the "draft the oldest man first" method, which had been the determining method for deciding order of call.

I watched and read all the slides and I really do NOT like Kerry but I can't tell if much of it is propaganda.

I went through the slide show also. Now Kerry is directly responsible for the deaths of millions of Cambodians and a failed U.S. policy in SE Asia. What a bunch of crap. Propaganda? Well, yes, a perfect description. There is so much that is wrong in that slide show it is difficult to know where to begin so I won't. And that is their intent. Throw enough crap at the wall and some in bound to stick. It leaves an impression and that is what they want.
So, who funded it this bit?
Who wrote up this rather slick bit of nonsense?

The bottom line to me is the follow on piece posted by Synap - http://www.insightmag.com/news/2004...oi-621304.shtml
Articles that start with lies and fabrications can be discounted out of hand. This one was entirely too easy to fact check and it was bogus. The slide show is equally bogus.

These folks assume that no one is going to exercise their brain and check them out.

too much propaganda, too much of everything!

I don't think this propaganda will stick. Problem is, for Mr. Kerry, is that his own propaganda does not seem to have worked...

Democrat John Kerry got no poll bounce at all from the Democratic convention and actually lost ground as President Bush moved into a tiny 4-point lead, according to a stunning new Gallup Poll. Gallup — the polling company that is the historic standard in tracking the convention bounce — said it's the first time since 49-state loser George McGovern in 1972 that a nominee failed to get a convention bounce.

there's plenty of juicy stuff on Kerry without resorting to publications such as Insight or the Washington Times.

see these for example:

As Newsweek is the sister publication of the Washington Post, Insight is the sister publication of the Washington Times.

The blind spot on Moon is especially curious since there have been U.S. government allegations dating back to the 1970s that Moon's organization fronted for the South Korean CIA and funnelled money to Washington for right-wing Japanese industrialists. For the past 15 years, The Washington Times has been the most obvious conduit for this foreign money. The newspaper and its sister publications -- Insight and The World & I -- have cost Moon an estimated $1 billion in losses. Yet, Moon has never accounted for the sources of his money.

Moon's jingle of deep-pocket cash also has caused conservatives to turn a deaf ear toward Moon's recent anti-American diatribes. With growing virulence, Moon has denounced the United States and its democratic principles, often referring to America as "Satanic." But these statements have gone virtually unreported, even though the texts of his sermons are carried on the Internet and their timing has coincided with Bush's warm endorsements of Moon.
