yes, I'm sure you are aware, though others perhaps not, that the issue is not with the content of his tweet- that was reported all day in many places- even on this thread a number of times (we should probably watch that we stop duping ourselves, and making off topic chatter, when this does go hot)...

- the issue is that, next to ill informed, vacuous virtue signaling types, nothing is as repellent as those unhealthy oversized ego types w/ all their feelz, attention seeking beh and drama llama histrionics :: rolls eyes again ::
as to his track record, this is the first i've seen of him- and i personally rule him out for those reasons alone :: shrug ::
There are other tweets to go with it ABC news and zero hedge has picked it up as well

Too much of a drama queen for me. I blocked him a long time ago.

So Turkey, a NATO member, has decided to cross their "If one is attacked, we're all attacked" mantra? Remind me, Why do we need them in Nato again?
Excellent question and although I read something, well almost everything I could find at the time, it was all Political Baffler-Gab to me, I never really understood so wrote it off to bribes or maybe just an attempt to have a "friend" in the same Operational Area as the Ayatollahs.

Truthfully I can't think of another reason.

It's off topic to go into on this thread, but there is plenty of informed discussion out there re: why Turkey is, and remains, part o' nato- those who wake on the cynical side o' the bed might suggest at this point it's only because there is no mechanism in nato to kick a member out :: shrug ::

it's also the main land corrider to the middle east, and has the control of straits o' the black sea-med, actually has a bit o' a fighting force and serves as a good counterpoint to Russia in the area, thus, theoretically, at least, serves Nato's interests in that theatre in that fashion.
..mostly the bosphorous (sp) straits tho, i assume.

Can this be possible?

Is the regime in Iran trying to negotiate a deal with the administration to avoid a war explosion?

Is #Tehran offering to stop mega waves of missiles fired on #Israel in exchange of 10 billion dollars or so?

Rumors or close to reality? Let's see.

Very interesting picture from Amir Tsarfati's site today--note the configuration of the flags in the briefing room where military leaders are planning strategy:

Preparing for the Iranian response : The Chief of Staff, Major General Herzi Halevi, completed a comprehensive situational assessment of the IDF's preparedness for all scenarios, together with the Deputy Chief of Staff, R. AMT, R. AMN, commander of the HA, Peka'ar commander and other commanders.

The heads of the wings and arms reviewed the preparation and readiness in defense and attack, referring to possible scenarios and adjusting the operational response.

The Chief of Staff concluded: "The IDF is very strong in attack and defense against any threat." We are at war and have been on high alert for about six months. The IDF continues to closely monitor what is happening in Iran and in the various arenas, while constantly preparing to deal with existing and potential threats in coordination with the United States Army. Our forces are prepared and ready at any time and against any scenario.'

A situation assessment is now taking place together with the commander of the US Army's Central Command, General Michael Eric Kurilla.

I'm more concerned about an Iranian attack on an Israeli target such as an embassy, a consulate, or a Jewish institution located in a foreign country, rather than a missile or drone attack against Israeli soil.

Going up against one of the best multi-layered missile defense systems in the world may not achieve the desired result for Iran. Attacking soft targets is something Iran and its proxies have plenty of experience in. Nevertheless, there are a lot of options that Iran can employ.

It is now 8:00am in Israel and still No Attack has been launched by Iran or Iranian-Backed Groups; as a Iranian Strike on Israel is Unlikely to occur during Daylight, we likely have at least 14 Hours until we enter another “Window of Attack.”

a question please? Do you expect to bring in huge American aircraft carriers, a nuclear submarine, nuclear bombers, mobilization bases on the ground throughout the region, the deployment of advanced THAAD batteries, and the use of NATO naval fleets, all for the sake of war with Israel?

And only Hamas, and helping Israel logistically? Or is there something for which all these forces have come together if negotiations with Iran do not succeed? Or is there no choice but a military strike, neutralizing the danger of the nuclear program, neutralizing the danger of any militias that want to ignite a huge regional war, neutralizing all its dangers at the same time, and activating the regional deterrence system! Some people do not know it, which is that the defense systems in the Middle East are subject to one program and one activated system. The most important thing is that it be Patriot, THAAD, or American-made.

For months, they have been waiting for congressional investigations and the issuance of an order not to possess an Iranian nuclear weapon, and for Iran’s trials and full conviction in 27,000 terrorism cases, the most important of which is the September 11 file. It is true that this regime still enjoys strong support from the lobby in Washington, but work must be done on the nuclear file now as well as to save what remains of voter confidence in the Democratic Party, which Biden and Obama led towards political destruction, and to save strategic partnerships with the Arab Gulf states.

BREAKING: CAR EXPLODES NEAR IRANIAN EMBASSY IN SYRIA

An explosive device detonated a car in Damascus near the Iranian Embassy, as reported by Syrian state media.

Details on the target or who's behind the bomb have yet to be released.

This follows an Israeli airstrike on Iran's embassy in Syria, killing 7 IRGC officers.

#Iran's seizure of an "Israeli ship" (which is half true) could be part of their scaled down response to the attack on its consulate in Damascus. Not something we haven't seen before

Actually, the Iranian guard just seized an "israeli associated ship" in straits o' hormuz.
All by their lonesomes.

..but yes, if we're lucky, the back channel dealings and public pomp by all parties for one another, and their domestic audiences, that suggested this might have found an off ramp to a mitigated response, will prove to be the case.

Time Will Tell.
Meaning they will do nothing. They will have Hamas and Hezbollah do their dirty work and the Houthis...

I doubt this is the full Iranian response to the Damascus strike for what it’s worth.

As that would mean:

Israel destroys your consulate and kills your top IRGC-Quds Force general in Syria and Lebanon, along with his deputy and 5 other officers.

You in response steal a ship that has no Israelis onboard and which, allegedly, has some ties to an Israeli businessman, over 1000 miles from Israel.

Nathan J Hunt
@ISNJH

no but this is likely them getting some international hostages to keep west back while they respond.

In an English-language video statement, IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari warns Iran that it "will bear the consequences for choosing to escalate the situation any further." The release of the video comes after Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy seized an Israeli-linked container ship near the Strait of Hormuz. Hagari does not mention the incident, indicating it was filmed before it, but says "Iran funds, trains, and arms terror proxies across the Middle East and beyond." "Iran-backed Hamas started this war on October 7th; Iran-backed Hezbollah expanded this war on October 8th; and since then, Iran-backed militias in Iraq and Syria, and Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, have expanded this into a global conflict," he says. "Iran is the world's biggest state sponsor of terror. Its network of terror doesn't just threaten the people of Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria; the regime in Iran fuels the war in Ukraine and beyond," Hagari continues. He says "Iran will bear the consequences for choosing to escalate the situation any further." "Israel is on high alert. We have increased our readiness to protect Israel from further Iranian aggression. We are also prepared to respond," Hagari says. "The Israel Defense Forces is prepared for all scenarios and will take the necessary steps — together with our allies — to protect the people of Israel," he adds.

Yes sireee bob, I'm sure Israel is feeling the pain over that one. Yeah, if you want to hurt me bad, steal my neighbors lawn mower.

It's almost like: He made you so mad I shot his cow.

Turned on the news this AM, happened to be on CNN, from scrolling last night, and they are still saying "imminent".

Not saying it won't happen, but the longer this drags on, the less likely I think 100 missiles out of Iran, will happen.

Middle East Crisis: Container Ship Hijacked Near Strait Of Hormuz Amid Soaring Iran Tensions

SATURDAY, APR 13, 2024 - 07:00 AM

While Israel on Friday braced for cruise missile and suicide drone attacks, there are new reports on Saturday morning that Iranian commandos hijacked an Israeli-affiliated container ship heading towards the Strait of Hormuz.

AP News says the British military's United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations initially reported the hijacking of Portuguese-flagged MSC Aries, a container ship linked to London-based Zodiac Maritime. Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer controls the international ship management company that owns and charters large vessels.

Video of the boarding has been circulating X for the past hour. However, "AP could not immediately verify the video, to known details of the boarding, and the helicopter involved appeared to be one used by Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, which has carried out other ship raids in the past," the media outlet said.

According to Bloomberg data, MSC Aries was leaving a port from Dubai on Thursday and heading towards the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel's last known position was recorded around 1256 local time on Friday off Dubai's coast. AP noted that the ship's transponder had been switched off.

X user Megatron called the ship's seizure by Iran a "big game changer":
This once again is confirming that the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Qatar are helping Israel bypass the Houthi blockade by land route from the UAE port.
Iran is now cutting that route as well.
If Hezbollah cut the Mediterranean route with its drones, Israel could fall into a complete trade blockade.

The incident in the Strait of Hormuz is very concerning since maritime chokepoints in the region are plagued with conflict. Off of Yemen, in the Bab-El Mandeb Strait, Iran-backed Houthis have unleashed multi-month drone and missile attacks against US, UK, and Israeli vessels.

In a recent note to clients, the global corporate & investment banking capital markets strategy team at MUFG Bank warned the key theme for 2024 would be "Higher friction geopolitics."

Focusing on the Middle East, MUFG's Tom Joyce showed how 25% of global trade flows through three chokepoints: Suez Canal, Bab-El Mandeb Strait, and Strait of Hormuz. The latest incident is very concerning for global trade and flow of goods, such as energy products, through the region.

This all comes as Israel is bracing for drone and missile attacks by Iran or its proxies as warnings flashed on Friday about retaliation for the killing last week of senior Iranian military officials at the country's embassy in Damascus.
