I really like this guy and what he has to say. He's intelligent, sassy and doesn't take any crap, but still respectful and articulate. Exactly like Trump without the mouth and ego. He is a retired 82nd Airborne and the Green Berets Special Forces with two tours in Iraq.

His core belief:

“I am first and foremost a Christian. My dedication to the belief that we all have inherent value and are entitled to liberty and equality before the law is rooted in this worldview. Principles of individual liberty, personal responsibility, respect for God and limited, constitutional government are not merely convenient political concepts, but essentials which are fundamental to our liberty, prosperity and security.” – Nick Freitas

So you are one of those popularity voters? If the masses cheer them on and they have name recoginition, then they have your vote?

Go look at his record. Read on his stances on the issues important to you. Then decide if he is a nope or not. You could not have even read or listened to what he had to say that fast. 14 million people now know his name because they paid attention to what he had to say, even if he wasn't a name they first recognized.

Bethshaya, I don't think it's fair to castigate Marsofold as a "popularity voter." Most people who bother to vote - and that seems more and more like a futile activity - don't want to completely throw away their vote. There is validity in casting a protest vote, such as the folks who vote for the Libertarian Party (which I've done a time or two), but voting for a virtually unknown candidate accomplishes nothing.

I'm fairly well-versed on current politics and yet barely even recognized Mr. Freitas' name. I'm probably one of the more conservative and liberty-minded people on this board; probably more so than Mr. Freitas. Still, I have little or no national footprint.

Would you like to start campaigning to have a write-in campaign to elect me as president? I'd certainly be light years ahead of Mr. Biden in supporting values which are widely held on this board! I'm also a natural-born citizen and am somewhat - ahem - over 35 years old, which qualifies me to hold the office!

Well, are you ready to head up my campaign? I thought not, because you realize that it would be a hopeless effort and, to a tiny degree, draw off support from more viable candidates.

If somehow Mr. Freitas becomes a more well-known candidate over the next year or so, I'll be happy to consider him.

I get ya, but it was within seconds of posting. Didn't even bother to give it a look. It has to start somewhere and I think we are at the crossroads in America where if we keep doing what we've always done, we're going to keep getting what we always get.

"If nothing changes, then nothing changes"

Frietas is already in politics and already holds a seat and has won elections. He even won as a write in candidate. Which means that the people of Virginia were willing to "take that chance" on their vote.

If you are running and have your platform on the issues posted, I'm willing to read. I do my own homework on who to vote for based on the issues important to me. And yes, I have voted 3rd party before. There was a time when Democrats and Republicans were those "third parties" and someone took a chance.

There are 535 PARASITES IN D.C. ... in order for real change to come about, at least 51% of them.have to go and then, only non lawyers, non dual citizens, non career politicians, ect should be allowed to run for office.... and only with term limits!!!

Until then, you will keep doing what you have been doing and you will keep getting what you have been getting!

I live in Virginia...and at this time Nick is my representative in Richmond...Nick is exactly what he says...we know him personally....he is truly a 2A firebrand..pro life pro constitution guy..an American...

our current in the US Congress reperesentative.."slime berger "..sp...Democrat . was losing badly to Nick...and magically they found a missing thumb drive the next morning with just enough votes to put her in... she won at the very end of the night last fall by just enough votes..think on that....wins at the end by just enough...she votes 100% with buy den

while the demon crates were still in charge in virginia they pushed through a redistricting..so I not sure if I will get to vote for Nick next time..this fall...no info yet on who is running in our district

It was a brutal cold and windy night when we had had our Orange County 2A meeting...people who couldn't get in the room were were standing room only in the hall and lobby...Nick was out there with a speech for them...and inside he where we were he set the room on fire...he represents Orange but doesn't live here ...he lives one County over but he was here to fight for us to become a 2A County also...which we did..(the sheriff in his County will make everyone a deputy. .to stop the gun grabbers..)our sheriff is behind 2A also...we elect our sheriff here.

Nick for any office is a GO.....the demo and rinos both hate him...could he have a better reference? He stands with the people.

He is x-military and loves this country. ..he has never voted wrong....if we have the chance we will always vote for him and yes he did win a write in election...by a lot....the threw lots of money against him...but the people wanted him!

They do everything they can to keep him out...he is not controllable...grinning

In his statement of his core beliefs, this resonates within my soul. One must NEVER FORGET, that “With God, ALL things are possible!” (Mathew 19:26). “If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).

If God wants this young man to run for, and become, President, then it shall be so.

I was not familiar with him but like his beliefs! And I was just saying, I would love to see someone rise up and be the someone I can get behind. The fact he is sassy and articulate without the ego and mouth is huge plus. Thanks for bringing him up on the radar!

Bethshaya, I see why you like this guy.

If he can get some legs for a run, he'll sure make it tough on some of the old school hacks.

Can't say I see him coming from the outside to win the Nomination though. And, if he does, he'll have to have made deals which might make him not-the-same-guy-he-was behind the scenes. Happens a lot in The Swamp . . . . . .

He’s a distant relative and Portuguese. And a christian. What more could you ask for?

Portuguese? OK. He gets my vote, but only because I used to love their dinners starting at 10:00 PM and sometimes ending well after midnight. So, Mr. Freitas has to invite us all to a genuine Portuguese dinner!

When I lived in Johannesburg that city had a fairly substantial Portuguese expat population. They were almost all people who had to leave Angola and Mozambique once the African communists took over in those countries, so needless to say they were all staunch conservatives. I'd made friends with a gentleman from that community who would often invite me to dinner at a very nice downtown bar and restaurant his Portuguese friends owned. They ate in a private, family dining room in the rear of the establishment.

The meals always began at 10:00 PM, which I was given to understand was normal amongst the Portuguese. Everyone ate around a communal dining table which was always absolutely loaded with Portuguese delicacies (including a great deal of seafood). I immediately understood why all of the middle-aged and older gentlemen I met there were, shall we say, large of girth! The establishment was a gathering place for former and current intelligence, military and security men, though while dining with them, I could never understand a word they said. My friend had vetted me and my dining companions always extended a sense of camaraderie towards their new conservative, American friend.

The family dining room was of casual appointments, though the restaurant and bar was much more formal, exuding an Old World formality and ambiance rarely seen in American restaurants. Even in the bar - which was called "The Bird's Nest" - a coat and tie was expected. By the way, "Bird" is an English colloquialism meaning young, attractive woman. The bar featured overstuffed chairs, dark wood veneers and subdued lighting. The Bird's Nest was what was known in those days as a ladies bar. South Africa had two types of bars: Public bars which were for men only (and could be on the rough side) and ladies bars where polished attire and behavior was expected. Men were allowed as patrons in the ladies bars, but a high degree of decorum was expected of them. This was anachronistic even in the 1980s, but I always felt that the custom of ladies bars had a certain charm.

You might think the owners' Portuguese roots would extend to their hiring practices, with perhaps a somewhat dusky, dark-haired Portuguese beauty reigning over the small bar in The Bird's Nest, but the owners, appreciating the commercial aspects of eye candy had hired a pretty, blonde-haired and blue-eyed ex-Rhodesian girl.

She and her family had been driven out of the new Zimbabwe as the African communists took over yet another sub-Saharan country. It was the same, unfortunate story I'd heard countless times and which had been repeated millions of times across the continent.

Absofreakinglutely LOVE Nick Freitas! I would vote for him, without hesitation, in any capacity. And I’m not the type to vote straight party because I can’t figure out how to make an opinion on my own kinda gal. I absolutely will NOT make my vote for or against you, no matter your political affiliation, until I’ve researched your platform to see how it aligns with mine.

Crazy talk, amirite? :xpnd:

I’ve followed him for a few years now, and by all accounts, he’s a standup guy. Not a ‘do as I say, turn a blind eye to what I do’, more like a lead by positive example type.

But who needs those kinds of guys??
