To me the most important 'prep' is the rural community I live in and am a part of (I was born here, and couldn't move back fast enough once given the 'prod').
It's descendents of the same mountain people that 'kicked the living daylights' out of the Romans that tried to conquer and impose their will upon us. They did the same to the Normans too. We have the terrain, we know the terrain, we know how to use the terrain.
Alone, each of us is a pushover, but as a strong community, we are formidable.
It takes years, as an outsider, to become a full part of such a community. But boy is it worth it.
Anything I have, is theirs, and after a lot of years living as if TEOTWAWKI had already happened, I have a fair bit to offer.
If decent people come to us, we will take them in, and make them welcome, because more than anything, the thing we need most, is people.
The rest is down to them.
