Heavy duty probiotics, at least 100 billion CFU's a day. Try to eat a lot of prebiotics such as Kim Chi, tomatoes, artichokes, bananas, asparagus, berries, garlic, onions, chicory, green vegetables, and legumes. Prebiotic fiber can also be found in oats, linseed, barley, and wheat.

Probiotics. Fermented, cultured foods like yogurt, Bulgarian buttermilk, kombucha, etc help. I don't have much locally so when I want to take something and not have it shipped in, I get Physician's Choice at WalMart. There are several varieties available. I get the 60 billion one. It's a little pricey....seems like it's between $25 to $30 for 30 capsules. There are so many others here that know way more than me.

Hey Barry - good to see you back. Hope all went well.

Eat yogurt. Take it light - like not a lot of heavy red meat for a few days. Gut will bounce back in no time.
A worse problem post-surg is if you are on any kind of opiates or synths. Get off them ASAP to get things moving in the right direction...

Owner claims advantage from cultured yogurt. Chobani seems to be the container of discard these days - although some of the dishes end up with nuts and bolts in them.

What is a fecal transplant?
Fecal transplantation is a procedure to collect feces, also called stool or poop, from a healthy donor and introduce them into a patient’s gastrointestinal tract. The procedure can control an infection called Clostridium difficile, or C. diff, by adding healthy bacteria into the recipient’s intestines. FMT can be performed in children and adults.

Research shows that fecal transplant can restore healthy bacteria in the lower intestine, which can help control C. diff and keep it from coming back. In some cases, FMT can be more effective than antibiotics for keeping C. diff in check.

Based on my research on this, eating fermented foods have more probiotics than taking pills (higher number and more strains) especially dairy kefir. You can buy grains for dairy kefir online. It only takes 24-48 hrs to ferment after you receive your grains. I have purchased grains from this ebay seller before:

If you buy sauerkraut from the store, make sure it is unpasteurized, otherwise the probiotics are killed from the heat. If your store carries it, (most do not) it will be in the refrigerated section.

I thought garlic was an antibiotic, and a pretty heavy one at that. It's antiviral and antifungal, too, last I knew. Allicin is a killing machine.

Thread drift but related - I was on IV antibiotics for a bacterial blood infection years ago.

Have your hearing checked!

I lost about 80% of my hearing due to the antibiotics they gave me - but I'm alive. ALL antibiotics damage the inner ear cilia to some degree. The cilia are the "hairs" that turn vibrations into sound for us. The less of them that survive, the worse your hearing gets. Good luck.

Sometimes a product claims to have a HUGE quantity of active cultures but wind up having very few. I don't have the link but I've read and heard this numbers of times.

There is a brand product called Culturelle. It is a capsule. And, it works. You've been given a lot of suggestions so you'll have to decide what would work best for you. With the capsule, there is no worry about whether the organisms have survived. I don't know how they make it but it does work.

I am dealing with bad overgrowth in my stomach now and using a product by Native Formulas called Restore 3. It is a 3 step process breaks down the biofilm, binds and removes the toxins and 3rd step restores good flora. Supplement that with probiotic called Florastor. Slowly feeling better.

CH recently posted a few videos on the benefits of L. reuteri and how to culture your own yogurt.
(I am not posting his verbiage as you can find it on the unexplained thread)

I did a deep dive on the L reuteri a while back and decided against it for the time being. I'm not saying never but I've got to do a little more research before I go there.

Neither here nor there.
I am three days out, so I am dealing with the worst of it right now.

I am in a rehab center, and I get evaluated by the center’s PTs tomorrow.

Right now, I cannot do much for myself.

Very frustrating.

But I have ice packs for both knees, and get pain meds as needed.
Dude that is totally normal! Been there and done this with Orion commander. He was exhausted the first two weeks. Praying for you and big time.
