NEW PORT RICHEY - With just about a week left before Election Day, the candidates are putting the full court press in key states and that means Florida.
"This election is all about you and now it's up to your and your fellow Floridians," urged Senator Joe Biden.
Senator Biden spoke Monday evening in New Port Richey to more than 3,000 supporters who waited hours to hear him talk. Even those that aren't old enough to vote but who feel directly affected by the poor economy attended.
"It's hard for me. I graduated [high school] in August, and it's hard for me to find a job right now and we lost our house and everything," explained Heather Timpanelli, a Biden supporter.
Biden spoke to families like Timpanelli's who have lost their homes to foreclosure. One of his two main goals he says is to restore the middle class and keep people's money safe. Bill Williams is already retired and thinks Biden and Obama will help him stay that way.
"I want to make sure I don't have to go back to work to support my family. So that's why I'm supporting Obama and Biden," explained Williams.
With just five days left in early voting, Biden urged supporters to join the more than two million Floridians who have already voted, to head to the polls.
"You've seen the debates. You've heard the policy positions and now it's time to choose. And with an early vote I mean now is the time to choose," added Biden.
Biden's bus tour of Florida continues. He'll make stops in Ocala, Melboure and West Palm Beach.

can you read?

It says that this man is already retired, and that he'd like to stay retired.

That would mean that he has already put in his years working to support his family.

Read the whole statement before commenting. It'll save you from embarassment later.

Or maybe this phenomena is just the affects of conservatism on men.

"Bill Williams is already retired..."

I expect most people who are past retirement age would rather not have to go back to work to support their families. I miss the point here.

Then when your time comes to face that decision down, you go right ahead and go back to work.

Personally, I will have spent over 50 years of my life supporting those morons in DC and their thieving ways. When I put my tools down and say enough, AFAIC, it will be their turn to wipe my ass. And actually, since I paid into the system, I don't see how you think this is living off the government teat for anybody that has. Maybe you'll like working until you drop to support those asses in Washington, but I won't, and I won't do it.

Nobody who is retired really wants to give up what he thinks he has earned, but who wouldn't go back to work to support their family. It sounds like he might be a younger retiree who left early, and was all set for a bit of relaxation, if he has family he needs to help......or he could be 80 in which case he would probably be out of luck and out of work. :p

Lots of people return to work because they are bored with retirement - this guy obviously is not one of them. But he probably thinks he won't have to with Obama, but might have to with McCain.......so he votes for .gov to help him out.

Is it always a case of "what can the gov. give me?" or does it just seem that way. Instead of "leave me alone".

but i do not understand why voting for obama will keep him retired. as a retired person, can you explain this?

Yes, I can explain it.

I retired in 1995 and was doing quite well until GW Bush and his band of Neocons got into the White House.

Now I am having to deliver newspapers every night 7 nights a week to make ends meet while Wall Street Tycoons get almost a Trillion dollars of my tax money and GW Bush is urging them to stop simply pocketing the handout and loan a bit of it out to help the economy.

Maybe he blames the stock market on Bush. Most of the retired that have to go back to work have lost stock value in their 401(k).

Ha! If Obama gets in, Mr. Williams 401(k) will be grabbed, gutted and weeded out to the needy illegal aliens in some form, or put into a new SS fund for welfare use. JMO

because McCain is a erradict nincompoop, who is older than dust, and couldn't find a maverick if it ran over him let alone run the country.

so how could any person be behind him is beyond me.

just keep in mind "the economy is strong" "war is peace" "prison is freedom" and "eurasia has always been our enemy"

this man will have to go back to work when the dems take his 401k and inflation is so high, his fixed income can't handle it.

Some people should not retire thinking they are always going to get the same income.......sometimes they choose the wrong stocks to buy, pick the wrong mutual fund, their old company goes broke and there goes the pension.

If you put your money with someone else to take care of, then you take your chances......win some, lose some.

Some think there won't be any inflation in prices, and some didn't believe Peak Oil, or commodity price increases from shortages, (manipulated or not).
So they rode too close to that pension line and didn't plan for increased costs.

And now everyone is having to rethink their pensions and retirement - not just Mr. Williams down in Florida......this is worldwide.

Wonder how Mr. Bush caused that??

This is typical of a dirty liberal, blaming others for their own poor planning.
Yeah, right.

My planning did not include a daughter, three grandchildren, and a great grandchild out on the street because of the horrible excess of GW Bush crashing the economy.

I don't mind taking care of my family but the GW Bush Administration spending Trillions in taxpayer fund giveaways to his friends really pisses me off:(

Don.....

that photo of Bush and McCain must be pretty near worn out by now.....you have used it so much this week :p

And if Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton didn't sign legislation making it easy for everyone who couldn't really afford a house to buy one (even if for 3 months) then the sub-prime mess "might" have been avoided.

And if the Dems had followed up on the "naked shorting" and done their job as financial watchdogs, they might have done something about stopping that whole cheating system.

Very much generalities, but blaming Bush is no more a generality than those.

The thread title is misleading.

It would seem more logical to draw a conclusion that this retiree believes having obamanation in office might prevent his retirement plan from losing value or will restore what has recently been lost in the economic nightmare.

He would be wrong on both counts, but like most of obamanation's followers - he can't see through the fog.

If Obama takes this election there are going to be massive layoffs as businesses downsize (or close) because of the anticipated higher taxes. Don't believe me? Watch Wall St and the polls. They dance with one another lately.

That photo shows better than any essay could the bond between GW Bush and John McCain.

I have never hugged another man like that. McCain is so submissive and appears to consider Bush his protector or mentor. GW Bush's eyes tell a story as do the closed eyes of John McCain.

The photo demonstrates the lie McCain is now telling that he didn't agree with GW and his policies.

I suppose he loved him before he hated him, voted with him before he disagreed with him....or he is simply a bald faced liar.

You choose.

Where in the Constitution is retirement a right? Since that great pyramid scheme of Social Security was instituted in 1935, all you people think it is your right to retire, right? Well my grandpa farmed and operated a motor shop pretty much until the day he died. My dad retired, got bored and went back to work and at 73 is still working. I myself, am planning on nothing from SS (tail end of baby boomers), so my husband and I are planning accordingly. One of the roadblocks to MY peace of mind is what if one of us ends up in a nursing home and needs long term care?

How many of you consider yourself preppers? Did you prep for this? Ya all got sucked into that pie in the sky idea that the gov. will take care of you in your old age. When are you going to learn that the gov. either can't or won't take care of you? And IT ISN'T THEIR JOB!! The first word in SOCIAL SECURITY is social, which means it is a form of socialism.

John McCain cannot hug like most people - his arms don't go down straight nor bend properly because of his injuries, so it looks like a bearhug, while it is maybe all he can manage.

His eyes may have just blinked at the time of the shot - it is not taken from a very complimentary angle......it shows him a bit podgy from below. The kind of photo none of us likes anyone else to see after Christmas dinner.

Well, the article does not say what the man retired from. Everyone on both sides seem to think he 'retired' from some great job with a 401k and bennies and shit when for all any of us know he could have spent his life going from Mc Donald's to Wendy's to an occaisional firework stand or Christmas tree farm. His 'retirement' might be nothing more than an old POS bubble camper in a state park.

So yeah- Obama 'spreading the wealth' might benefit him a lot.

Same with Fulltimer...the I retired all pink and happy until doesn't mean a damn thing...no one here knows 'what' he retired from...might be the one in the bubble camper with a clothshanger antennae and leaky roof A/C.

Those that keep saying "I'm going to elect Obama because I'm tired of all the old timers..." Hey guess what- Biden is an 'old timer' and been sticking it in yer ass just as much as the rest of 'em.

None of you seem to have the reasoning ability to actually look at all the issues. You ALL skip around the issues you don't want to answer and try to bring up one or two issues as the ONLY issue.

Guess what? No one is buying it. EVERYONE here and all over are asking about Avery, Acorn, Rec. White, the Islamic connections and so on.

I wish Green would get in on these-at least he can form coherent sentences and debate using facts and arguements based on reality rather than the 'rah rah Obama' rhetoric the rest of you use.

Now, Y'all don't go away...I want to hammer you with FACTS. I love doing it and it is always interesting to watch you as a group slit-house and troll elsewhere.

I'm gonna light the fires in these parties boys and girls. Bring it out into the daylight and watch the Liberty suckers burst into flames.

Then I'm a' cookin' up some marshmallows!

Well, a few more days and we will see if "EVERYONE" is concerned about Avery, Acorn, Rec. White, the Islamic connections and so on.

As far as what I retired from that has been no secret.

Retired from Caterpillar after 30 years with full retirement...$1800 a month with Health, Prescription, Dental, and Legal Insurance all fully paid.

I was 49 years old when I retired with a paid off home and farm in Farmersville Texas.

Zero debt and all my vehicles paid for.

I bought a new F350 Ford dually crew cab diesel truck and a new Alfa fifth wheel trailer in 2001 and paid cash.

After GW Bush swindled Texans into voting an ad valorum tax on travel trailer and 5th wheels I sold the farm and house and went fulltime on the road until 2004 when I paid cash for a 5 bedroom, 4 bath home on two acres in the Florida Panhandle to move into to care for my Mother in Law.

We are still comfortable especially as my and my wife's Social Security stared this year but in order to provide for my daughter, her children and my great grandchild who lost their home on the beach in South Walton County as well as mother in law I deliver newspapers every night.

Yeah, just a freeloader who didn't plan well.

Now Satanta, you can KMA!

I have already voted for Obama and I am taking 20 to 25 people a day to the polls that don't have rides.

I voted for Obama because I think 8 years is long enough to experiment with the Neocon agenda and I am tired of the huge growth in government and government spending.

McBush will just be more of the McSame.

then again...you don't have to make sense to vote for that empty wind bag.
