Has No Life - Lives on TB
Thanks for the Mark 82 Eyeball report from the area.
I say that because I was very interested in how forthcoming the MSM was going to be in it's coverage today. I strongly suspect the MSM is hell bent to very carefully "manage" public perceptions of the current administration in a very organized manner.
Overall I was not disappointed. Given the potential for such an attack to possibly be the beginning of coordinated effort, the MSM was unusually restrained in it's coverage and the amount of speculation it indulged in. A complete departure from the past.
There was really only one static camera angle of the vehicle along with a few pictures of the perimeter.
Anything else was some random twitter reports and paltry video.
Fox5 DC's coverage was actually pretty good about the story. Didn't get a lot of "commentary" but did get real deal on the ground reporting. I was impressed by how they handled it.
The rest of the MSM-this story will be dead and gone in 24-48 hours. The perp didn't fit any narrative they could dovetail him into. I think the only managing they will do in this instance is correlate the violence today in respect to the "insurrection" back in January and how beleaguered those poor (fat overpaid overreaching pepper spray old ladies) capitol police are. They want this story to emphasize the heroes of the capitol PD (spit) and the usefulness of having the NG stay here (cough hock a lugie spit) longer. And they want it to go away if the story can't be managed that way.
One lasting effect of this incident is that the NG troops are back around the capitol standing guard. The outer perimeter fence is down (the one on 7th st on the mall) but the inner perimeter fence is still up. This fence is located at the front around the parking area where the reflecting pools and the main steps going up onto the capitol lawn are. Sorry for the convoluted description but come up here and I'll show you what I mean
From the looks of the videos I've seen, that video looks as though it was taken from the Dirksen senate office building (the old FBI building from the TV show Ephram Zimbalist starred in) on the 3rd or 4th floor. Probably by a staffer-the Twitter video commentary seemed VERY well couched in non judgemental and non confrontational NewSpeak (using the new 10th edition dictionary obviously). Interesting that's the only real video that's hit the internet. Fox5DC had pretty good coverage from the scene until they were moved back. Might want to check their site for different video.
