It was the best of Thanksgivings. The table with three card tables on the end, was groaning under the weight of the proof that they had been richly blessed.
For once, Clora was more than happy to let the younger women lead the dish crew. She and Rosie sat talking with fresh coffee, wisely made by Honey; making the brew not Clora strong.
Clora watched her children qith fond gratitude. She had the fleeting feeling that this might be the last time they were all together. They were adults with jobs, professions, and interests all of their own.
Tess had already mentioned that she and Woody were looking at houses in Maryland; Tess was going to start school, guiding her dream of being a child brain surgeon.
Woody and Milo were deep in a discussion in the living room; Woody pitching the idea that Milo and Honey needed to move close to them. be child care for the triplets, and then Honey would havw protection when Milo was off on Marshal business
Soon, Honey and Tess joined their men, and the planning was hot and heavy.
When the dishes were finished, Don looked at Bub and then MR caught his eye. The old man was tired, and so was the rest pf the small group/
Don dropped down next to Clora. "Ma, we need to take Bub back and get him in bed. He still looks and acts poorly. I have to work early in the morning, but we thank you for a great meal and company/"
Clora was disappointed, but smiley bravely and pressed enough leftovers for them to have supper the next night.. With ap]at on his arm, she gave Don a stack of sandwiches, four ham and four turkey,.
"For lunch tomorrow," Clora warned, smiling, as she knew they would be gone by his bedtime.
Toby had his sleepy kids in their coats, heading out the door. :I have court tomorrow," he said in the way of an apology. "I still have some work to do."

Woody wanted to have a talk with Mark. So, Clora, Tess and the biys sat at the table talking. The boys wanted cookies, and Grandma Clora had a full box for them to take home.
Much sooner than she wanted, everyone was gone.
