George W. Bush's "7 Minutes" Not So Bad After All...

Thread Killer :-)
Taken from CNN’s transcripts of Larry King Live Show, July 8.
John Kerry is the guest. I added in the times; they are correct, look 'em up.

Larry King: “Where were you on 9/11?”

John Kerry:

"I was in the Capitol. We'd just had a meeting - we'd just come into a leadership meeting in Tom Daschle's office, looking out at the Capitol. And as I came in, Barbara Boxer and Harry Reid were standing there, and we watched the second plane come in to the building [9:03 a.m.]. And we shortly thereafter sat down at the table and then we just realized nobody could think, and then boom, right behind us, we saw the cloud of explosion at the Pentagon [9:43 a.m.]. And then word came from the White House, they were evacuating, and we were to evacuate, and so we immediately began the evacuation."

That’s 40 minutes folks.

Kerry and these Dems “couldn’t think” for 40 minutes.

According to his own words, they sat at this table and couldn't think for 40 minutes.

Guess George W. Bush’s 7 minutes isn’t looking so bad right about now…

From a Newmax report.

"Middle Eastern males are protected, not by our Constitution, but from our current popular policy of political correctness and a desire to offend no one at any cost, regardless of how many airplanes and bodies litter the landscape."

:rdr: Donner9x: Official member of His Majesty Bush's imperialistic, super-duper secret, right-wing extremist, neo-con, Proud, crusading-Xtian, oil-grabbing, prisoner-"torturing" cabal... ( For the dense: /sarcasm off )

OK. So we have two total idiots both running for President. Where does that leave us? Back at the old "lessor of two evils" BS? Maybe you should have mentioned that Kerry was not in any position to do one damn thing about the situation, But Bush certainly was. Like I said two total idiots. Choose one or the other, but don't think America wins with either choice.

Yep, all kinds of things Bush could have done in that 7 minutes. He could have stood up and ordered all planes to freeze. He could have signed an executive order that ordered that the buildings not fall down. He could have ordered the launch off all ICBM's. He could have astrally projected into the planes and shot the terrorists. He could have ordered the immediate evacuation of all US cities. I'm sure there was probably more.

Old Bear, If you actually believe that either President Bush or John Kerry really are idiots then why don't you run for president? After all, soneone of you caliber and obvious intelligence should have no trouble beating a couple of bumbling bafoons.

MARANTHA!! Even so, come LORD JESUS!!!
Yes Fairbanks...

Or I'm SURE all our "left wingers" think if GW is such a great Christian...why, he coulda just prayed those terrorists into "behaving themselves"....but then that's not how it works is it??
Personally, I think 7 minutes is a DAMN good response time for someone responsible for the country's well being!!
#1. He was invovled in a visit with CHILDREN.....NOT suspecting this would happen.
#2. As a RESPONSIBLE ADULT he did NOT jump up immediately and scream....."OH GOD!! Our country is under attack and all of us are gonna DIE!!" THAT would have been REAL productive! He waited a moment for the reality to sink in, AFTER the second plane (the first could have been an accident) and then, very tactfully, IMO excused himself WITHOUT upsetting innocent children!
#3 He immediately put himself and the country on "Safety Mode". He got himself into a protected, undisclosed environment....which is EXACTLY what he SHOULD have done. He began issuing orders to the military to safeguard the nation and himself....BECAUSE he has that RESPONSIBILITY. All the BS about "well what about me??" and "Yeah, well he was safe, but whose gonna take care of me??" is JUST THAT, SLOPPY BS!! HIS JOB is to PROTECT the country yes, but PROTECT HIMSELF FIRST because he is the commander in chief...that's ANY president's job...protect the line of command. If you can't see that, you have never been in a command position, and obviously DON'T understand how governments work.

I could go on, but those of you who use this as an issue will totally IGNORE ALL LOGIC anyway......

BW - I'd bet there are thousands of people nationally who would do a FAR better job as prez. BUT - TPTB would never allow those people to run/win/take office. We're stuck with what we have for a REASON.... :shk:

I spent at least 30 minutes staring at the television with my mouth hanging open and pissing myself. I doubt many of you did anything other or much better that day either....

Hey. I was shocked (in retrospect) by my reaction. I'd have nuked a sizable portion of the ME before sundown, given the power.

Why, who is making an issue of the 7 minutes anyway? Most people, even people who are not ffor bush and wont vote, think he did a good job on that day and the days that followed.

Thank God I wasn't President on that day. I would have wanted to push some buttons.

7 minutes Heck many people are probaly reading this thread taking that long.

In that 7 minutes a statement by the president was prapared, a breifing on the situation and an Ermegency evacuation for the president was prepared. All this in the choas that more was coming and not knowing the extent.

So ol bear what should the president have done when those few words where whispered in his ears. Saying getting up and leaving is not good enough. What acts should he have carried out within the first 10 minutes?
