They were giving out free flu shots today at Costco. My senator has been pushing it and there is a lot of advertising on the TV. How are things in your area?

Rite Aid and Walgreens sent an ad. DH gets one to protect me because I can't get one. They are free to Seniors.
Always a big push to get one. Victor Valley, CA.

Every person I know That has died of cancer or has cancer had one thing in common, They all took the flu shot. Including my wife she got the shot every year even when she knew a week later she would be sick as a dog with the flu.

Flu shots are a roll of the dice anyway.

I never have and never will. I may get the flu now and then, but it just naturally builds my Immunity system up for when something really ugly comes along.

It's about the same as usual, big campaign. I am pretty sure that when I went into Costco on Saturday that they had a big sign up for $19.99 or $19.95 flu shots...

I was not a flu shot taker for decades. Then I got the flu a couple of years in a row and was really ill... so generally I do get one, although I was surprised that when I went for my semi-annual doctors appointment that they did not ask about a flu shot.

My Mom died of cancer in 2016. She never, ever had a flu shot. She never drank, smoke, or did drugs. She lived a clean life. She did however, have the typical vaccines of the 50s. Like polio, etc.

Wife and I got ours Friday. She is a retired internal medicine nurse and insists we get one every year. I don't argue.

Seems like maybe a bit earlier this year. I usually wait until the end of October, and will do the same again.

There is a huge medical complex in our town, so there is always a big push for the flu vaccine every year. Has already started for this season. We don't take the vaccine.

Our local HEB has had one drive-through vaccine clinic, and I believe they're set to do another. There is a huge push here. Husband and I have already gotten ours, and neither of us paid anything. Also, neither of us had any side effects, although IIRC, I did last year.

I worked with the public for quite a while. I have had the flu shot every year, and can recall several times, including last year, that I had someone sitting at my desk who TOLD ME they had the flu, called in sick, and then came in to see us. I did not get the flu, although she literally sneezed and coughed all over me throughout the hour she was sitting there.

I also got the pneumonia vaccine at the behest of my doctor(s) as I've had pneumonia several times and almost didn't survive a couple of times. (Yes, I take all sorts of vitamins and herbs, but apparently I have one of those bodies that reaches out and grabs whatever it can.) I also had a young man, obviously sick, at my desk last year. I had to call him home to follow up and his mother said, "I don't know why he went out. He knows he has pneumonia!" Yeah, I don't know why either. I worried for a couple of weeks after both incidences, but never got sick!

I want the option to have the Virus Vaccine - could be restriction put onto people that aren't inoculated against the Virus >>> it'll be your problem for not thinking ahead ....

Dr. Oz says it will make you more susceptible to catching COVID.

You can have mine. And my Rona shot too.

I will keep taking elderberry ....

I'd have to look, but I think several of the area "free clinics" are offering flu shots for a $5 donation or free if the client really can't afford it.

No, I won't be partaking, either. Right now, I'm mostly working from home and will start to limit the number of stores I visit on my shopping day. I'm also off elderberry syrup (I went off it for eight weeks), but I'm going back on it again soon.

My immunocompromised sister and her hubby both got flu shots because they got $10 each for doing it. Made her sick as a dog but hey, she got her $10! I feel for them when the real mark of the beast comes out cause they will be first in line to sell their souls for a damn dollar.

Watched a good friend die from the flu shot, I will never take one

While watching the Vaccines Revealed series I posted about in another thread, they showed a movie called "Trace Amounts".
It's not an anti-vaccine movie.

This showed the effects of Thimerosol in vaccines on people and the history of the use of mercury and the CDC coverup of the research.

It's used as a preservative.

While there are other safer methods this is the cheapest and, therefor, the most profitable

I don't know. Last year I got the flu shot and pneumonia vaccine in the fall. The beginning of March I got Influenza A, which then turned to pneumonia. 5 rounds of Zpacks later I finally got my lungs back to normal! Never been so sick. I just don't know if I will even bother this year.

No. I haven't gotten the flu in years. I also take vitamin c quite often and elderberry for when the public gets the flu vaccine, to protect us.

The push to get Flu shots MAY be to reduce competition for hospital space.

Well, it's not like the hospitals are filled with Covid patients now.

But (in their mind) you NEVAH know. And there might be a "winter bump." (2nd Wave.)

More "keep you on edge about Covid" and keep the Lock-Down going. (And Trump Economy under thumb.)

You watch. Lock-Down ends November 3 - no matter who wins.

I have always been a big flu vax person. This year I am saying no.

They RARELY hit the strain going around and personally, think it’s garbage because of that. And the C19 vax. No. Not going to be your guinea pig.

I may be forced to bc of my job, but as of now, still have the right to refuse. Another “we shall see”. Those are my plans for the moment. I can’t say if it’s the right or wrong decision. However, my neck hairs are standing up on this one.

Do what feels right for you. Just making a comment here.

They were certainly pushing me to have a flu shot while I was in the hospital last week. I politely declined each time. The only flu vax I’ve ever received was the swine flu shot that so many took in the 70s. But, though I’ve had a bout or two of bronchitis, I’ve never had the flu or pneumonia. Or if I did, it was so mild that I was unaware.

No vax, no flu. Still, it IS 2020 so will do all I can to avoid catching it.

Flu shots are required if I want to work at hospitals. Otherwise, I wouldn't get them. But if CCPVirus vax becomes a requirement for working at hospitals, I'd have to do something else. Not taking.
I fly back and forth to work. I am figuring at some point the Rona vaccine will be mandatory to fly. I myself am making plans for that eventual outcome. I will not be flying any longer. Never had the flu shot never had the flu that I know of. If I did it was no worse than a cold.

Knock loudly on wood, I haven't gotten my "fall cold," which I usually get in early September, so the distancing is helping with that, I think. I call one of my workplaces "The Germ Factory" because they were too cheap to disinfect surfaces, even before the pandemic.

I'm so grateful that I'm able to work remotely. If I stay away from flu shots and indoor venues (other than grocery or big box stores for short periods), I anticipate remaining OK.

Does that mean you'll be driving the ice road up to the North Slope?

Its actually not a ice road. It’s a mostly gravel open year round. They paved 22 miles of it coming from the north end this year. But No, I will not. I will give up my job in the oil field up there and find other employment or do something on my own if it comes down to having to take that vaccine. I have other skills.

We are residents of Montana now.
I had thought about trying to stay at our cabin in Alaska that we still have and drive up to the slope and work longer hitches but who knows if I could get back through Canada to get home. Plus I would have to be without my family if I done that. Not worth it.

Having to make plans like this sucks but freedom is not free nor cheap either. I pray Trump prevails and makes the vaccine voluntary only. However the airlines could make it mandatory. In that case they will a good portion of their customers. Any business that does make it mandatory aside from the State Govs will hurt.

Never got a flu shot until I became an adult and my circumstances required it. Still do, although effficacy seems to get a bit worse every year. I won't be an early adopter of the COVID-19 vax, though. I remember 1976 and what came of the rush to bring the Swine Flu vax to market--Guillain Barre ain't no walk in the park. I'll see how VAX 1.0 goes before I bare my arm.

Rarely get the flu and even then it just makes me tired for a couple of days. Strep throat on the other hand gets me once a year. Wish they'd make a damn vaccine for that.
