PLAY Favorite Candy Bar

Halloween is coming on and got me thinking of the small indulgence of a candy bar.

So, everyone, what is your favorite candy bar?

I love Zagnut-crispy and coconutty, and an occasional Reese's Cup. Maybe an Almond Joy.

Anyone else remember the Marathon bar from years ago?

Gotta have dark chocolate.......

The Mars Midnight bar or Mounds or the Dove dark chocolate ..........

Once in a while a York Peppermint Pattie.

Coffee Crisp!

Stocked up and bought several packages of Coffee Crisp & several bags of those Liquorish bits candy when I was in Sk & Ab.

What ever happened to those large blocks of MacIntosh toffee in the red plaid boxes?

Sort of a little off topic, but not too far ;)

There was a time when my favorite, absolute favorite indulgence was taking a jar of Dove dark chocolate, warming it ever so slightly in the micro and then dipping a slightly under-ripe banana in it.

Ahhhhhhhhhh bliss!!!!

Banana had to be about two days from being ripe and the chocolate just warm enough to take the chill off it but still cling well to the banana.....

:spns:

The last time I was in Wal-Mart I happened upon marshmallows. Not just large ones, but REALLY HUGE....... Was sooooo tempted to get a jar of Dove dark chocolate and see how they'd taste dipped in it......

Like I don't know how they'd taste ............ Freakin' wonderful!!!!!!!!!!

But I sure don't need the empty calories and I also know that when I get stressed I can overdo it on comfort goodies ........... LOL Like getting a couple of the bittersweet chocolate chips and a couple walnut pieces and eating them ............

OK...... gotta stop now ..... Cuz' if I don't I'll give into the fiendish voice that's reminding me of my baking stash, of bittersweet chocolate and walnut pieces

Brings back memories. Fifty years ago "if" I had a nickle I could buy any of the main line candybars at the neighborhood corner store. If I was rollin'-in-dough and had earned a dime I could buy a Mars Bar. And the bars would good sized too. Now they don't even fill your hollow tooth.

WHEN I WAS A YOUNG LAD, candybars were $0.25. I would take two dollars, ride my bike to the corner store, and buy eight candybars. Then, I would proceed to ride to my cousins house five miles away.

I would have all eight gone by the time I reached his house...

Oh, the good ol' days when my body could handle anything I threw in it!

I do like dark chocolate, and I do like Reese's, so I guess the new dark chocolate Reese's are one of may favorites these days... :D

Do they still make Mallow Cups? I haven't had one in a long time. They were my favs when I was a kid. I wonder if they still come with the "paper coins" inside? IIRC, you could trade them in for real money...

Cadbury easter eggs are the best. The ones I merely love are too numerous to mention. However I'm a sugarholic and swore off candy bars about a year ago because I can't eat just one. Since then I've lost 45 pounds, Wahooooo.

Of course, I'm bragging; but I certainly don't begrudge anyone who can still enjoy candy without having to worry about it. By the way, I can remember when candy bars were a nickle, and my favorite then was Three Musketeers. There were three little bars together in each package.

Dove Dark chocolate.......
Mars Midnight bar
Reeses Peanut butter cups (they make em in dark chocolate now????? OMG, I HAVE to find some of those)
Paydays used to be but can't eat the peanuts anymore.....sigh.

But dark chocolate anything will make me swoon......

OH, did you know that dark chocolate in moderate amounts will keep your blood pressure down?
AND that it is full of oxalic acid and will help cancer patients kill the cancer?

Just two reasons to eat the stuff besides, it is SO GOOD....milk chocolate really isn't even in the same league....

McIntosh quit making them - heard they had new owners and they only have the little toffees in wrapped paper. We used to take a carton to our son in UT, but cannot find them anywhere.

I KNOW what my favorite is......the large marzipan logs covered with DARK chocolate!! Costs about $3.49 and they last the length of the Mall, a nibble at a time......

Has anyone tried the strawberry or cherry licorice covered with dark chocolate which come from Australia??? To die for - and absolutely addictive.

Kit Kat. Awhile back, Hershey's came out with a test run, I guess, of a mint chocolate bar with a krispy texture, similar to Kit Kat. Loved them, but never saw them, again.

Mountain Gold

Thick chocolate with bits of coconut mixed in it, surrounding a sort of marshmello center. They were a cup, like a Reese bar. I can still get them off the internet. I think they were a west coast favorite as I have never seen them anywhere else. I think they are made in California.
