“Ohio Art, the company that makes Etch A Sketch, saw its stock jump up a whopping 212.5 percent in the day after Mitt Romney’s adviser Eric Fehrnstrom likened the start of the general election campaign to shaking up an Etch A Sketch…

“Fehrnstrom had a little fun with the impact of his comment, saying in a tweet on Thursday, ‘Etch A Sketch stock is up? Psst, I’ll mention Mr. Potato Head next. Buy Hasbro

true or false? was discussed today on talk radio

that etch a sketch was made in america by american workers and toys r us pressured them to make a cheaper unit so they offshored the product to china, the kicker being bain capital has ties to toys r us.

"Personally I'm really disappointed in recent production releases. They're not top
quality like myself. If you're smart, you'll invest in the new iSpud. It has superior
multivisual capabilities and is adaptable for long-term storage. As a matter of full
disclosure, I admit I'm a major stock holder in iSpud. Hey, I'm an entrepretuber!"

This is a funny story, but I see it as the last straw with Romney, and I'm sure I'm not alone. I'm thinking for the first time that if he becomes the candidate I will vote Libertarian like I did in the last election. I mean, he was treading on such thin ice as it was, trying to sound conservative, and then his campaign manager goes and says something (the truth) like that. Damn the Republican Party.

Why would everyone up and buy an etch-a-sketch after that comment? Some mass consciousness thing maybe? Glad it didn't even dawn on me to buy one.

I doubt a single one extra was sold due to it. It's probably just the usual speculators betting against each other in a race to the top of this temporary spike.

Etch A Sketch Horse. Used w/o permission (a blatant steal) But I'll gladly remove it on request.

He's not bad...

I would actually bet that after people saw a toy they used to play with as a kid, they got all nostalgic and went out and got one. As stupid as this country is sometimes, I really don't think they're that dumb. I get reminded of old toys too and sometimes want to buy them again. 'course it could also be a bunch of idiots trying to be "irionic".

That's if what they say about the sales increase is true, though, lol.
