225,000 liberals sign petition to fire Manchin after he hugged it out with Trump

By PHILIP WEGMANN • 3/1/17 3:25 PM

After his speech Tuesday night, President Trump gave Sen. Joe Manchin a bro handshake and a bro hug. Now almost a quarter million liberals want Sen. Chuck Schumer to give the West Virginia Democrat the boot.

On Thursday dozens of activists plan to deliver 225,000 petitions to Schumer's office, asking the minority leader to kick the "Trump-apologist Joe Manchin from Senate Democratic Leadership." But they're mad about more than just the bipartisan meet-cute.

On Tuesday night, Manchin was one of the few Democrats hopping on their feet to applaud the president. Before that, he was one of the few Democrats willing to criticize the Obama administration's regulation on the coal industry. And now the blue senator from the red state has warmed up to Trump.

As his own party drifts further to the left, Manchin has become an anathema to the liberal base. He criticizes "the hard core left," invites the editors of Breitbart into his own office, and voted to confirm a dozen of Trump's cabinet nominees.

That's why an activist troupe headlined by 350.org and Democracy for America want to axe Manchin. Liberal opponents call Manchin "a conservative extremist" for bucking the party line, while conservative supporters think the senator is a tease for not leaving Democrats behind. But history is more likely to remember Manchin as a shrewd politician.

Praising Trump for a couple of months after hammering Obama for years hasn't been a bad strategy for Manchin. It's also logical. Manchin doesn't differ much from Trump on many fiscal and entitlement issues. And it's pragmatic because Manchin has to run for reelection in a state where Trump carried every single county.

Among the people who count to Manchin, those 225,000 signatures against the blue-dog Democrat count as endorsements.

That term has been in circulation since Trump started his campaign. Evidently you don't get in the board that often.

Hey, maybe a party switch coming on.
What if he switched?
Each time you could get one of the dems to switch, it would mean one less person like McCain or Graham, whose vote wouldn't be so critical anymore.

They will get their wish in 2018. Manchin is running as a anti-coal, Marxist hate white people democrat in 2018. He is running in a state Trump carried by 42 percent. The Marxists whining about Manchin will instead have to deal with a hard line Trump supporter, pro coal, pro second amendment.

Yep, you heard it here first: 60 to 75 Republican Senators, over 300 Republicans in the House, and the Democrats down to 10 to 12 states, with maybe 5 states under total Democratic party control: governor and both houses.

The 12 Democratic Senators up for election in 2018 in states Trump carried are road kill. Nobody takes the Democrats seriously anymore. They are now down to about roughly 25 to 33 percent market/political share, and that is concentrated nearly totally in about 10 states.

This attack on Sessions is another example of the final spasm of the failed Marxist state. Trump needs to throw Soros in jail and to HUNT DOWN THE LEAKERS IN THE ALPHABET AGENCIES OR THIS WILL GO ON FOR YEARS.

It's funny, but to me Manchin comes across as a true democrat-not what we call these socialist/marxist left wing nutjobs, but as a normal democrat. The Ed Jenkins/ Sam Nunn (before he wanted our guns), Jimmy Carter (as president, not his old age)Zell Miller type. An old style Democrat. Someone you may not necessarily agree with at all times, but one that is still civil and has the best interests of their constituents at heart.

No wonder the left wing nut jobs want to lynch him. He talks and makes sense.
