The Real Problem

We all must admit that America has problems, serious ones. The economy is the one that has everybody's attention right now, but the two wars we're fighting are not going away, the drug cartels in Mexico threaten our border towns, the education system is and has been bogged down in politics and our inner city streets have become jungles where only the predators dare to show their faces after dark and, as you know, the list goes and on.

We put the blame for our problems mostly on politics, trying in vain to elect someone or some party who has the answers to the myriad of ills befalling this nation and we can go on doing that until the Rocky Mountains are worn down to a nub and never get anywhere, until we face the truth.

The problems in this country come from one simple failing, we have turned our backs on Almighty God. We have become a nation of politically correct wimps who get lead around by the nose by a handful of dedicated liberal globalists who are determined to turn this country into a Godless secular socialist state where the elite rule and live like kings and the rest of us do what we're told.

In retrospect, we all see that our current financial mess was caused by greed and by politicians who either didn't know or didn't care about what happened to America as long as they could stay in power.

It is becoming common in this nation to call good evil and evil good and there's a specific warning about that in the Holy Bible and if you don't believe the Holy Bible is the truth, you may as well stop reading this piece because you're fixing to get a big dose of the same.

We refuse to acknowledge evil, we always have an excuse for someone's bad behavior.

We blame horrible crimes on environment. Well, environment is never going to change as long as society condones things like unwed births, children having children, children who had no home lives themselves bringing other children into the world to be raised on meager welfare checks, and left to run wild in the streets, never even knowing who their fathers are.

Do you want to put a stop to this America? It's simple. In this day of DNA, indentifying the father of a child is easy.

There should be a federal law that whoever fathers a child supports the needs of that child until they reach the age of majority.
No excuses, no exceptions. If the father is on drugs let him go cold turkey in a jail cell until he kicks the habit and then he goes to work. If he runs, he goes right back to jail and stays there working on a road gang until he decides he wants to get serious about supporting the children he's fathered.

It's called personal responsibility, and it's sorely missing in America today.

You want to clean up the neighborhoods? Take the drug dealers down hard. Take the gloves off our police forces and if that includes some bloodshed, so be it. You live by the sword you die by it.

You want to make education better? There's a foolproof way. Just start passing out school vouchers and let the free market control the quality of education as parents choose schools they feel are best suited for their children. The teacher's unions will never improve education, because with them, it's not about education, it's about politics and power.

We abort millions of babies in this nation every year and call it choice. That's the danger of political correctness, when you can change the name of wanton murder to something as innocent as choice.

There are states making same sex marriage legal, the new administration is approving the use of the unborn in stem cell research -even though adult stem cells seem to be what really holds promise- and nobody knows where that is going to lead.

The Al Gore crowd screams "global warming" as if man could control the climate and tides, perpetrating a lie that is nothing more than another step toward globalism.

The media promotes living together out of wedlock and X-rated pornography cable channels flourish.

A smidgen of Atheists push the courts around and force their will on the majority of Americans in the name of fairness. Where is the fairness?

Let's take a look at the cold hard truth.

This nation was not founded by Atheists, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims or Satan worshippers. This nation was found and founded by Christians and our values are based on Judeo-Christian beliefs.

While our law allows for any person to worship any god they want to in this country, the founders and framers of the federal papers only acknowledged one. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Jehovah, The Great I Am; commonly acknowledged by Christians and Jews as the only true God.

America was founded on this belief and the further we get away from it the more dangerous our future becomes.

In my humble opinion it's time for America to take it's medicine, a huge dose of unvarnished, untainted, undiluted gospel truth.

A note to you cherry pickers, save your breath.

Pray for our troops, and for our country.

What do you think?

God Bless America

DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT OR SHUT UP!!!!!

Btw: Did I mention that I really like your music?

I think I will. A man that doesn't think his ideas deserve discussion has ideas that are usually wrong. And there was a whole lot wrong with the ideas in that article.

I agree with Mike....

I'm tired of this "if we have a religious government, everything will be fine." Oh, and only a certain kind of religious government, because only certain kinds of Christians are real Christians.

In all fairness, I agree with what he said. But once again, I have to ask why I would take the word of an entertainer, to form my own beliefs?

Charlie, play music. You're good at it. But, I don't ask Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan about affairs of the heart and soul. I don't ask Lynyrd Skynyrd about patriotism. I don't ask many people, about much of anything. I form my own opinions. Feel free to form and spout your own. But, don't let fame intimidate your beliefs. And, sure as hell, you shouldn't let fame formulate them.

I'm curious if the folks that are saying Charlie should shut up and sing have said the same about performers and entertainers that parrot their views? Or like the rest of the libtards only say celeb soap boxes are acceptable when someone with fame makes statements that agree with their views and beliefs?

As far as telling Charlie to shut up and do something about it -- he does. I have seen him 3 times. 2 of those were benefit concerts where he was helping to raise money for a worthy cost. The last time I saw him he and a dozen other artists here in Nashville put on a benefit concert for one of local boys who was a Sgt in the Marines. On patrol his humvee was taken out with an ied. All 4 Marines were from around here. 3 died. The 4th lost both legs and most of one arm and a good portion of the remaining hand.

Some of the locals started a drive to raise money to build this Marine a house that could be set up to help him deal with living in his shattered body. Charlie found out about it and he volunteered and brought the show lots of publicity. I drive by the house everyday.

That's just one story. Charlie puts his time, face, and money where his mouth is and that's a fact jack.

In my opinion what's good for the goose is good for the gander. If its ok for libtard celebs to use their soap box it outta be ok for conservative celebs to feel free to use theirs.

Oh, and by the way I think he hit it out of the park.

Feel free to do a search on my past posts... try using entertainer/beliefs, etc. Even in this post, I stated that I agreed with him.

I really don't think we should form our opinions, based on the beliefs of others. I try to encourage people to form their opinions, based on fact, and not on the beliefs of entertainers, sport stars, political figures, etc. No disrespect towards Charlie Daniels was inferred or implied. I just wish that some people would use the head that they've got, instead of using the heads on others to make their case.

And, that's just my opinion. Feel free to differ.

Prayer never belonged IN the schools. The school's job is to educated, not proselytize.

I don't want anyone leading me, or my kids, in prayer except our pastor.

All religions should be taken out of school.

It doesn't mean I don't respect them, after all I am god!

FL, prayer belongs everywhere. I pray and speak to god dozens of times per day. As for schools, schools don't teach prayer unless you go to a prayer teaching school. As for public school, Christianity should be at least 'mentioned' seeing its 'public' and public schools were part of 'America' which was founded on 'Christianity'.

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag
of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands:
one Nation under God, indivisible,
With Liberty and Justice for all."

If people have a problem with that, they should learn to accept, find a new school, find a new city, or find a new country to live in.

Rex, I don't say the Pledge for religious reasons.

My allegiance is to God.

I do not recite oaths to flags because I consider it idol worship.

Prayers can be recited silently if the student is so inclined. Ask any student taking finals if there is no prayer in school!

But schools have no business leading prayers.

I'm really tired of people who want to take Christianity out of our history--if it hadn't been for Christians (Sabbath-keeping Christians, at that), there wouldn't be a United States as we know it. You want a country without Christianity? Move to Nairobi. You want a country without Judaism? Move to Iran. It's amazing to me how people can't wait to get here because of how great it is--and then can't wait to change it. I feel the same way about people who were already here--taking advantage of the blessings poured upon our nation BECAUSE we were Christians and trying to follow God, but ready to bash the hand that feeds you.

And, why shouldn't Charlie Daniels write his political beliefs? It's a free country and he's a pretty damn good writer. But, then...why am I surprised? We elected Obama, and look at all the reasons he shouldn't even have been a legitimate candidate.

A bit simplistic Charlie, and pretty naive of history.

The Christian Pilgrims were looking for freedom of religion from whom? The Christian Church of England.

Then you had Spain and the Roman Catholic Church forcing their version of Christianity on the indigenous people.

Speaking of the indigenous peoples, they had THEIR own church, which was generally one of being a part of creation, not apart from it.
Of course most of those people were killed in the genocide committed on them by Christians, capitalists, the Federal government and all those other institutions revered in modern day America.

So what's the right form of Christianity? IF we knew then we could have a "Church of the U.S." That's essentially what Charlie seems to want.

Funny how the circle turns you around.

Good for Charlie, and my Marine brothers, even so I stick by my statement to "shut up or do something". If Arnold can become Gov of Ca, then Charlie can be President. The celebs can keep thier BS to themselves, Im sick of them, search my posts, and dont ass u me Im Liberal.

Volleyball Granny, those founding fathers were descendents of people who had seen the results of state-sponsored religion, and wisely wanted no part of it.

Weren't these the same founding fathers that said :

"Suppose a nation in some distant region should take the Bible for their only Law Book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited... What a paradise would this region be!"

John Adams 1756 America's Second President
---------------------------------------------
"It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge to Providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and to humbly implore His protection and favor."

George Washington October 3, 1789 Proclaiming a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving
----------------------------------------------
"We have been assured, Sir, in the Sacred Writings, that 'except the Lord build the House, they labor in vain that build it.' I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without His concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel."

Benjamin Franklin Statement he made at the Constitutional Convention June 28, 1787
----------------------------------------------
"God who gave us life and liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever."

Thomas Jefferson 1781

The founders also said this:

"And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being as his father in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerve in the brain of Jupiter."

-Thomas Jefferson, Letter to John Adams, April 11, 1823

"Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between church and State."

-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Danbury Baptist Association, CT., Jan. 1, 1802

"This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it." - John Adams

"The Christian god can easily be pictured as virtually the same god as the many ancient gods of past civilizations. The Christian god is a three headed monster; cruel, vengeful and capricious. If one wishes to know more of this raging, three headed beast-like god, one only needs to look at the caliber of people who say they serve him. They are always of two classes: fools and hypocrites." - Thomas Jefferson

Not a founder but a good quote,
"History does not record anywhere at any time a religion that has any rational basis. Religion is a crutch for people not strong enough to stand up to the unknown without help. But like dandruff, most people do have a religion and spend time and money on it and seem to derive considerable pleasure from fiddling with it." - Robert Heinlein.

The Christian god is a three headed monster
From Thomas Jefferson Encyclopedia
This quotation is frequently seen on the World Wide Web, attributed to Thomas Jefferson:

"The Christian god can easily be pictured as virtually the same god as the many ancient gods of past civilizations. The Christian god is a three headed monster; cruel, vengeful and capricious. If one wishes to know more of this raging, three headed beast-like god, one only needs to look at the caliber of people who say they serve him. They are always of two classes: fools and hypocrites."[1]

This quotation has not been found in any writings of Thomas Jefferson. However, it does bear some slight resemblance to several genuine Jefferson quotations, so it is feasible that the above could be traced back to these. On 8 December 1822, Jefferson wrote to James Smith,

No historical fact is better established than that the doctrine of one god, pure and uncompounded was that of the early ages of Christianity; and was among the efficacious doctrines which gave it triumph over the polytheism of the antients, sickened with the absurdities of their own theology. Nor was the unity of the supreme being ousted from the Christian creed by the force of reason, but by the sword of civil government wielded at the will of the fanatic Athanasius. The hocus-pocus phantasm of a god like another Cerberus with one body and three heads had it's birth and growth in the blood of thousands and thousands of martyrs. And a strong proof of the solidity of the primitive faith is it's restoration as soon as a nation arises which vindicates to itself the freedom of religious opinion, and it's eternal divorce from the civil authority. The pure and simply unity of the creator of the universe is now all but ascendant in the Eastern states; it is dawning in the West, and advancing towards the South; and I confidently expect that the present generation will see Unitarianism become the general religion of the United states. The Eastern presses are giving us many excellent pieces on the subject, and Priestly's learned writings on it are, or should be in every hand. In fact the Athanasian paradox that one is three, and three but one is so incomprehensible to the human mind that no candid man can say he has any idea of it, and how can he believe what presents no idea. He who thinks he does only decieves himself. He proves also that man, once surrendering his reason, has no remaining guard against absurdities the most monstrous, and like a ship without rudder is the sport of every wind. With such persons gullability which they call faith takes the helm from the hand of reason and the mind becomes a wreck.[2]
Jefferson does also use the phrase "fools and hypocrites" (although not as such) in his famous passage in Query 17 on religion in his Notes on the State of Virginia:

Difference of opinion is advantageous in religion. The several sects perform the office of a Censor morum over each other. Is uniformity attainable? Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half the world fools, and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error all over the earth.[3]

While I'm at it, here's the full quote from Adams, which came in a letter to Thomas Jefferson, April 19, 1817:

"Twenty times in the course of my late reading, have I been upon the point of breaking out, 'this would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it.'!!! But in this exclamation I should have been as fanatical as Bryant or Cleverly [two clergy from his childhood]. Without religion this world would be something not fit to be mentioned in polite society, I mean hell."
=========================================================================
As I said, I do not believe that the government should be in the business of promoting a religion. But, let's not say that the founding fathers were not for the most part Christians, when they most obviously were. They simply believed that government has no place in deciding matters, such as these... They never intended that those same rules and laws would later be used to keep people from expressing their beliefs... anywhere, anytime, and in any way.

Very interesting, I had never taken the time to really research those quote, and I admit I should have known to look a little deeper into it.

Doesn't really change how I feel about the opening post, still a whole boat load of fail.

And, I truly respect your opinion, MikeD.

Context is often used (especially on the web) to change the original intent of a quotation. Those that knowingly do it, are guilty of fraud, but liable for nothing, because there is just about no way to tell who did it, originally. But, if something seems out of place and contrary to one's known point of view, that's when I usually go looking. I am guilty of it, myself, and don't always check my sources. As Val Kilmer said in "Tombstone" (I hope I get this right, without checking), "My hypocrisy knows no bounds." LOL All my best.

I'm going to stop now... LOL I think we've gone well past Charlie Daniels and I apologize to the OP for my part in the hijacking.

charlie doesn't get it. what we need is LESS government, not more. points i disagree with:

There should be a federal law that whoever fathers a child supports the needs of that child until they reach the age of majority.
No excuses, no exceptions. If the father is on drugs let him go cold turkey in a jail cell until he kicks the habit and then he goes to work. If he runs, he goes right back to jail and stays there working on a road gang until he decides he wants to get serious about supporting the children he's fathered.

It's called personal responsibility, and it's sorely missing in America today.

NO MORE FEDERAL LAWS! besides, these types of laws are already on the books, not that they do any good. you want to talk about personal responsibility? what about the responsibility of the mother to keep her legs closed until there's a ring on her finger? if girls took responsibility to refuse to sleep with a man until they were married we wouldn't be having the problems we have today. it may not be 'fair' to put this burden on the girls alone, but life isn't fair. the truth is, they're the ones who will be stuck with the child so they need to decide to ensure they have a husband BEFORE having sex in the first place!

You want to clean up the neighborhoods? Take the drug dealers down hard. Take the gloves off our police forces and if that includes some bloodshed, so be it. You live by the sword you die by it.

the gloves are already off, the police simply would rather beat up on the rest of us because drug dealers fight back and many police don't want to risk it. instead, the war on drugs has given them the tools necessary to become power hungry JBT's.

you want to put drug dealers out of business? legalize the drugs and require a license to sell them just like alcohol. when faced with breaking the law or selling legally (without the risk of going to jail), most will toe the line. problem solved.

as for the police, let them go back to being PEACE officers.

You want to make education better? There's a foolproof way. Just start passing out school vouchers and let the free market control the quality of education as parents choose schools they feel are best suited for their children. The teacher's unions will never improve education, because with them, it's not about education, it's about politics and power.

vouchers are NOT the answer. they simply shift the focus of state run schools away from educating to advertising. they will spend all their time finding what parents like and then giving that to them. and contrary to popular belief, most parents don't give a whit about educating their children...for them it's all about the prestige of the place their children go every day and what that prestige can do for them.

if you really want to fix education, get the government OUT of education all together. if a community wants to have a school they can build it themselves. anyone who wants a place to send their kids can donate money, materials or effort to building it. you want a teacher? hire one. those interested in having the school can meet to decide what THEY want taught and hire the person they feel is best to teach it. those who aren't interested in a community school can either educate their kids at home or, if they don't have kids, simply mind their own business. no taxes collected on those who don't want to use the community school, let those who use it contribute.

charlie has some good ideas, but mostly he, like many, still sees big gvmt as the answer to our problems. he simply wants to change the rules to fit his own ideas, not get rid of the problem and take the responsibility to do things right himself. big gvmt IS the problem. you want to see this country go back to it's roots? do away with federal control over every aspect of our lives and it will happen quickly.
