California Bill Would Ban State Employees From Staying In Trump Hotels
by Brock Simmons February 11, 2020

While the coronavirus may be the latest plague to envelope the news, Trump Derangement Syndrome continues to infect more and more people.

The latest example is a proposed bill in California that would prohibit state employees from staying in Trump owned hotels.
These people are complete fascists and resemble something you would expect in a third socialist state.
Fox 11 LA reports:
State lawmakers in California are considering a bill that would prohibit state agencies from spending taxpayer money at any of the hotels owned by President Trump or his family.
The proposal, which was introduced by Democratic state Assemblyman Evan Low, would bar employees of any state agency from spending money at a Trump hotel while traveling for work.
“Public officials, at any level, should not profit off the constituents that they were elected to serve and represent,” Low said in a statement. “No branch of government is above the Constitution, and this legislation will ensure that California taxpayers are not further exploited by Donald Trump’s violations of the emoluments clause.”
While the text of the bill does not specifically mention Trump by name, the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is the only president in U.S. history who also happens to be a hotel magnate. If passed, the ban would apply to state agencies, the legislature, the judicial council and the University of California and California State University systems.
“This bill would prohibit a state agency, as defined, from paying, reimbursing an employee, providing a per diem allowance, or contracting for the cost of lodging, procuring a good or service, or any other expense at a lodging establishment where the owner, as specified, is the President of the United States,” the bill reads.
Sac Bee adds:
Only one California state worker has booked a stay at a Trump hotel through the state’s contracted travel agency or its online booking tool since the start of 2016, according to the Department of General Services.
A California Public Employees’ Retirement System employee stayed at Trump National Doral Miami in April 2017 for a conference at the hotel, CalPERS confirmed.
The ban would apply to all state agencies, the Legislature, the judicial council and the University of California and California State University systems.
California has limits on how much it will pay for hotel stays, which for most of the state is $90 per night. But there are higher limits for more expensive areas and employees can file excess lodging rate requests for more expensive rooms.
An entry-level room at the Trump National Doral over a weekend this coming April costs about $400 per night.

The proposal, Assembly Bill 2020, isn’t Low’s first restriction on paid state travel. He authored Assembly Bill 1887, a 2016 law that prohibits the state government from paying for travel to states that reduce LGBT protections. The California Attorney General’s Office has added 11 states to the “banned” list since the law was passed.
The modern day Democrat Party is determined to ruin anyone who questions their authority.
We can NEVER let these horribly selfish people run this country again.

President Trump should issue a 50% discount to all Ca. employees who stay in his hotels just to shove it up their fascist asses.

They should pass a law saying every Californian needs to move out of the USA in a Trumps presidency.
No, I still have conservative friends & relatives who are trying to escape. CA should PAY conservatives to get out of the state. THEN the REST can leave the U.S.!

As a native Californian, vary upset (though not broken anymore) I'm still upset with the state.

Want to buy some property in Cal. Still own a small patch. Wooded giant pines, next to a lake, all year running cold spring running threw it.... sell it cheap.

I would certainly hope so. Trump hotel rooms are top of the line. They are expensive.

California employees should be staying at Motel 6 and save the taxpayers money.
I was thinking Trump should offer illegals "one last night free" in his hotels - and then they're bundled off by ICE and dropped off on the other side of the border.

Sort of a "Honey Pot" motivation here - but Trump could write off the cost on his taxes as a donation to the country.

Do they mean even during personal time? Like they would be banned from staying at a Trump hotel even if on vacation with their family?

They should stay in the cheaper motels is a given, announcing it in this manner is childish.

Awesome, but as the Assembly man states, it should apply to ALL electeds, right?! For example, if I'm reading the reporting right, Pelosi owns between $1M and $5M capital in Visa - so no California employee should be allowed to use a Visa card; she owns between $1M and $5M capital in Apple, so no iPhones for California employees....See Nancy Pelosi Assets here

Personally, I think Trump should turn the tables on them. How? By having his companies refuse to book accommodations for a representative of any sanctuary city or state. And if any of them show up at the front desk, have them escorted out to the sidewalk.

”We don’t serve your kind here.”
