Former Mayor Pete Buttigieg repeated his claim Monday that the United States of America belonged to illegal immigrants, just as much the country’s citizens.
At a campaign rally in Utah, Buttigieg said that the so-called “dreamers,” illegal immigrants brought to the country as children, had “every bit a claim on this country as the rest of us.”
He continued in Spanish, which translated to English meant, “We should tell dreamers that we support them, and we understand that this country is your country too.”
Buttigieg has stepped up his use of Spanish and his political support for amnesty and taxpayer-funded health care for illegal immigrants as he tries to place well in the Nevada caucuses on Saturday.
Earlier Monday, Buttigieg told voters in Nevada that the legal immigration system was not allowing enough people into the country.
“This county needs more people than its immigration system is willing to allow,” he said. “So what happens? The people come, but then they are endangered of all of the uncertainties of being undocumented in this country.”

I have no qualms at all with legal immigrants that fully assimilate as Americans,. I view them as equal citizens in every way that matters, but I do take offense at what feels like a rejection of my heritage as meaningless with the concept that this country is every bit that of the newly arrived illegals as it is mine. My ancestors have been in what is now the US for over 400 years, have fought in all the wars, and toiled in the factories and on the farms that built this country. Don't tell me that someone that can't speak English or support themselves is equally entitled to all that America offers simply because they found a way across the border. Call me a snob if you will but it is my ancestors that built this country, not theirs. There is a big difference between the US being voluntarily generous to those newly arrived and the concept that those who sneak across the border or say the magic word "asylum" are entitled to the wealth accumulated over hundreds of years.

Good as far as it goes, but not enough.
First, even legal immigrants need to be nonMuslim and European ancestry.
Second, they need to be in decent health (so no retired laborers over age 55, no crips or amputees, none over 300#, no HIV+, etc.).
Third, they need to not be socialists or homosexuals.
Fourth, they need to be of at least average intelligence.
Fifth, if adult males, they should have a skill.
Sixth, they need to not be criminals.
Seventh, they need to not be opposed to the basic ideas undergirding this country.
There are more, but that's a fair start.
