It's being reported by Dallas media that a woman who is on the watch list (maybe a resident of Duncan's apartment, from one report) decided that her quarantine was over, went out to a rapid transit station, and began displaying a fever.

The mind boggles...

[sorry, the title should have been "falls ill"]

A woman who was being monitored for possible exposure to the Ebola virus was reported ill at the Dallas Area Rapid Transit White Rock Station Saturday afternoon.

DART spokesman Morgan Lyons said the person fell ill with a low-grade fever at the station in Northeast Dallas after deciding that her quarantine period was over.

Dallas Fire-Rescue hazardous materials teams were dispatched to the station at 7333 East Northwest Highway, which serves the Blue Line light rail along with connecting bus routes.

DART said White Rock Station would be closed to bus and rail service until further notice; trains scheduled to stop at the station will not stop there.

On Friday, DART said two of its employees "have been connected with persons who have been exposed to or are carrying the Ebola virus." The transit agency said both employees are considered low risk by the Centers for Disease control because they neither had direct contact with any known Eolba patients.

This is so no one can blame the CDC for telling her it was ok

I don't understand what notified them that she had a fever. Lots of people walk around with a fever and you'd never know. Even if they could tell she was sick, how did they figure out she was one that was quarantined? Is she freely telling people that she was quarantined?

I think this is bad journalism. I think she fell ill and also presented with the fever.

It will be interesting if she is using that magical 21-day watch period. They may all find out the hard way 21 days isn't long enough.

WFAA.com has a breaking headline on that link now stating Judge Jenkins is supposed to discuss the DART situation at 3:30 cst...will be broadcast live on that site.

Sigh, relying on people to "self-regulate, or quarantine themselves, is a very dangerous medical policy, especially when you KNOW Ebola causes mental health and impulse control issues. One of the effects the Ebola virus has is to reduce judgment ability. In effect, you are dealing with what Doomer Doug will now call VIRAL INTOXICATION.

Yep, this lady obviously had serious health issues on the train, or she would not have sought help. She potentially exposed everybody on the subway train. I think the average size for ONE mass transit car is around 40 to 60 people, depending on the seat configuration. There also may, repeat may have been, a separate group of people hanging on the straps and standing up. If that is the case, they would have been less than one or two feet away from her, assuming she was in a seat. If she was standing up, there WOULD EASILY BE THREE TO EIGHT PEOPLE WITHIN ONE FOOT OF HER. Doomer Doug rides mass transit, MAX light rail and buses, so these figures are totally accurate.

This is a potential health disaster and this lady may have personally exposed sixty people to Ebola. People who it will be very, very hard to track down.

Stayed inside and finally got a fever and headed straight out the door to where there are a lot of people and then announced, I am from the Ivy Apartments AND I AM SICK? She is so sick that people started pointing and authorities of some sort approached her and asked, "Have you been to Africa recently?" Stayed inside for almost 21 days to "protect people" and then went stir crazy? None of it makes sense.

DALLAS — A woman who was being monitored for possible exposure to the Ebola virus was reported ill at the Dallas Area Rapid Transit White Rock Station Saturday afternoon.

DART spokesman Morgan Lyons said the person fell ill with a low-grade fever at the station in Northeast Dallas after deciding that her quarantine period was over.

Lyons said the woman is believed to be a resident of the Ivy Apartments, where Ebola "patient zero" Thomas Eric Duncan became ill after traveling to the U.S. from Liberia. Duncan died on October 8 and two nurses who treated him are now being treated for the virus.

Dallas Fire-Rescue hazardous materials teams were dispatched to the station at 7333 East Northwest Highway, which serves the Blue Line trains along with connecting bus routes. Emergency personnel were wearing protective gear.

DART said White Rock Station would be closed to bus and rail service until further notice; trains scheduled to stop at the station will not stop there.

Lyons said the train used by the customer would be removed from service "and cleaned consistent with our established protocols for cleaning hazardous materials."

On Friday, DART said two of its employees "have been connected with persons who have been exposed to or are carrying the Ebola virus." The transit agency said both employees are considered low risk by the Centers for Disease control because neither had direct contact with any known Eolba patients.

Mprepared, this is a classic example of what I just called VIRAL INTOXICATION. This lady is showing late stage Ebola mental health issues, just like Patrick Sawyer did in the Lagos, Nigeria airport.

On top of everything else, we are now seeing clear evidence that late stage Ebola infected people will break voluntary quarantine without realizing what they are doing. The more I see about this case the worse it gets.

Remember how CRAZY Patrick Sawyer acted?

Refusing to believe his sister HAD ebola, refusing to even believe Ebola 'could' be involved, picked her (BLEEDING! HEMORRHAGING!) body up in the hospital and with her dripping blood all over him moved her from an isolation ward to a private room, because he DENIED she had ebola and wanted her to get "private-room" level care?

And THEN he tried to go board a flight to an ebola conference somewhere else? (Lagos, Nigeria?)

And got sick in the airport?

And even THEN refused to believe he himself now HAD it, and keep arguing until he literally passed out?

YES, it affects the BRAIN.

Crap...

I was within a couple of hundred yards of that station about an hour ago stocking up on Liquor! Saw the firetrucks and ambulances, etc. heading to the location.

I live about 3 miles from there!!

Please post link to live-stream of that if you have it.

Also--what EDT does that compute to?

If it is Ebola and there are hemorrhages in the fine vessels in the brain, it would be like a form of mini stroke. Confusion has been noted
as a sign of infection.

I'm a fan of the TV series Fringe. On one episode, a virus was unleashed inside a building. The virus modified peoples' behavior so the people would turn violent, if necessary, to escape the building so they could spread the virus. Of course, in the story, it was the virus that sought survival and replication.

Might this not be more true than most want to acknowledge?

I am going to go read about that again. I forgot about him.

Tinfoil alert!

If she is seeing other sick people being taken somewhere but hearing nothing about them in the news, she might have bolted to the train in order to not disappear.

/tinfoil

If she has experienced mini strokes and her thinking is compromised, it might have been a whole lot easier for her to think something like my tinfoil theory was true.
