Remember the multi-flavored soft caramels that most of us would get at Christmas? So yummy. I haven’t seen them in years. Are they still available? Who makes them? Are they indeed Brach’s? I’ve attached a pic below. I really miss the raspberry caramels. Whose are they? I want some. Thanks!

Would *I* Lie???
they do have multi-flavored twisted toffees in the bulk candy isle at walmart. got them for my mom a few years ago, she used to get them when we were kids and raaaarely we'd get a sweet morsel! Robot or human? (Not sure why it named the link that, it's a walmart posting for them, 2# for $22. Brachs.)

And thanks for reminding me! I'm going to get some too! :)

eta: oops, not brachs.. "sweetgourmet" brand.. works for me!

Brach's was a massive company that got bought and sold a shit load of times in the last few decades.
Ferrara Candy Company is the latest owner.
I wouldn't be surprised if they got cancelled.

I used to love those things!

Haven't seen them in a while.

Of course, don't buy much candy lately... say like the past 10 years.

If I see some somewhere, I'll let you know.

It was Brach's, they were called Milk Maid Royals and everyone who did have them lists them now as sold out or discontinued. Maybe they will re-release them (?). If you google it by their exact name ("Brach's milk maid royals") you will lists of companies that sold them.

Sugar will give you laminitus. In humans its "split nails."

Doesn't mean you can't enjoy them...

I usually don't try to remove them from the paper.

Owner has said that Necco used to be one of the bigger employers in Cambridge, MA - besides HAAVARD.

Owned a business a long time ago that was right next to the "Fizzies" factory.

Chicago once reigned as the candy capital of the world. But the remaining industry is now a (chocolate) shell of what it was. Why it matters: At one time, more than 1,000 local candy companies supplied Chicagoans with relatively high-paying jobs.

Lots of the stuff we use to enjoy has gone way of the dinosaurs.

A few weeks ago me and my shop hand were trying to make a point about all the eff ing off by some of the guys. Got a couple guys that seem to spend more time at the smoke table than working. One of them is a boss.

We looked online for the candy cigarettes we used to get as kids.
Neither of us smoke.
They still have candy cigarettes but not the same as they were. The ones now are just a stick of sugar more or less. No paper wrap with little puff of powdered sugar you can blow out any more.

We bought some anyway. Every time the one boss came out to smoke we would go sit down with him and pull out our candy cigarettes and have one. He said “what are you guys doing?”

Us? Smoke break, what does it look like.
We figure if we take a smoke break every time you do it cant be wrong and we dont have to work as hard.

He had made the comment about how hard he works. We fixed that. He got pissed but we made our point about who worked around here more.

Live a little….. I just went on a week long crazy streak with hersheys chocolate and Peter Pan peanut butter…….. DAMN that’s good!!! Now I give it up again….. ahhh but the memories
I hope you aren't diabetic... Dennis is. That stuff is pure poison to someone with blood sugar issues. It sucks, but I've watched too many diabetics live their last years going blind and having their feet amputated bit by bit...

Owner says he used to drink ROOT BEER FIZZIES as a kid. Or put them straight into his mouth. Or take a quash of carbonated soda to flush it down.

Years ago, I worked at the Merchandise Mart, and I could smell the chocolate as I crossed the bridge every morning. It was a great way to start the day.

That's the way I live.

71 so far so good - knock on wood.

Brach's made my absolute favorite - Malted balls. Haven't seen them for years.

Finally found some that are just about as good - going there today - Nifty Nut House Wichita.

The Vermont Country Store has lots of retro candy as well as other things. I didn't see Brach's Caramels, but I didn't look through all of them. Last I knew you could request items they did not stock and if they could they would find them.

It appears they are still around for Christmas. A Chicago Favorite!
Their Bakery/Store always had FREE samples! And you could purchase a bag of BROKEN cookies for a very low price! I wouldn't have cared if they were bakery floor sweepings, lol!

I didn't live far from Harlem ave in those days!
