POL Andrew Sullivan admits it. The Cultural Left is terrorized by Palin.

If you are one of those people who think this person cannot become president of the United States, think again.

Two lines stood out for me. The first is a sign that she believes and her followers believe that she has a divine destiny. She is Esther, with a touch of martyrdom:

"I will live, I will die for the people of America."

The second was the Dolchstoss attack on the duly elected president of the United States:

"We need a commander-in-chief not a professor of law."

These two potent messages - delegitimizing Obama as "the other" and as a weak-kneed traitor to the troops, and casting herself as the avatar of the real America, ready to die for its survival - are political gold. Most politicians in liberal democracies she somewhat from stating them so obviously, because they clearly invoke certain, shall we say, non-democratic forms. Not she.

The media, too scared be tarred as elitists, will never demand policy specifics from her; there is a huge constituency out there (rightly) outraged by Washington corruption and she now has the critical mantle of the rogue outsider; she can channel Christianism and fuse it with the slogans of phony "fiscal conservatism"; she will blame every lost job on Obama; and she will accuse him of betraying the troops and befriending America's enemies. Behind her are the Cheneyites.

Above all, she is capable of generating a personality cult - much, much more so than Obama, because she can harness Christianism to her divine destiny. The power of this kind of appeal - of a charismatic, beautiful woman, an icon of the pro-life cause, persecuted by the evil elites, demonized by libruls, and commanding the biggest military on earth - should not in my view be under-estimated.

Know fear.

I wonder how the O will react. It's so nice to listen to a regular person expressing her opinion, not reading off a teleprompter.
This is going to be soooooo interesting to watch.:popcorn1:

Her star is rising at the same rate Zero's is falling.

I believe she wants the presidency and she may very well get it in 2012. It depends on how much damage she does to herself campaigning for John McCain who is a Progressive masquerading as a RINO. She probably feels gratitude for his vaulting her into the spotlight, but he is what we need to get rid of in DC! He really belongs in the Democrat Party. I respect his service to the country, but he needs to retire and write his memoirs. The torch has passed.

I don't agree with all of her views, but she will get my vote if she is the candidate for Pres or VP.

I find it very interesting that my wife--a true liberal--is frightened by Palin. I really don't know where she got that. I don't think she had had any conversation with any other liberals when she first expressed that reaction. In fact, I think it was during her speech at the Republican convention that she first said that. It is like an animal reacting to something, almost a spirit to spirit reaction. She can't (or won't) explain it to me. I think the problem for my wife is that Palin is everything liberal women have wanted--an outspoken woman being taken seriously, but--horrors of horrors--she stands for conservative principles.

Because of this we have a group of socialists running the country.

I'm already beginning to hope y'all who want her so bad DO get Sarah as prez in '12, if we make it that long. I can't shake off the idea that by '13 you'll get an idea what some of the former 0 supporter/dupes are feeling about now if it happens, though...

dd (IOW, BushII in skirts... I can still hope I'm wrong- but I doubt it from what I've seen so far.)

By 2012 things are going to be radically different.

I don't know if "making it" will be correct terminology by then, but I'm such a doomer.

"... I can't shake off the idea that by '13 you'll get an idea what some of the former 0 supporter/dupes are feeling about now if it happens, though..."

One big fat difference. O is a man that cast no shadow. There is no proof he has been anywhere; college (no record of any kind), legislation (voted present), even his birth. There is no way to go up his backtrail to see what he had done, assuming he ever did anything.

SP left tracks all the way; college, politics, work, family business, all of it right out there to see. One reason why 40% do not think she is qualified for the POTUS. After all, how could somebody that hacked her way through some no-name college by participating in a beauty contest to help pay for it, worked as a sportscaster, and then worked in her family business gutting out fish could possibly be the POTUS.

I have written before that one should beware of charismatic people in politics, because charisma can PHOG the view. It sure did with O because it prevented most from noting there was no view.

SP is also charismatic. But at least we have something to examine.

Anyone who is a Constitutionalist should be terrified of Palin, or anyone who shares her views.

Tea Party Sarah is a Neocon
Kurt Nimmo

Sarah Palin delivered a speech prior to her keynote at the Republican Tea Party fest in Nashville scheduled for this weekend. In addition to touching on government spending and the bankster bailout, Palin said the underwear bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab should have been grilled before he was read his Miranda rights.

Palin, the darling of the Tea Party movement (or the one hijacked by statist neocons), is merely echoing the Republican idea that supposed terrorists accused by the government do not deserve Fifth Amendment protection and should be shuffled off to the torture camp at Gitmo straight away. In other words, if the government says somebody is a terrorist then they do not have a right to remain silent. If the government says you’re a terrorist, well then by gosh you must be one.

Neocons say skipping the Fifth Amendment is crucial in such cases because the government needs to get “actionable intelligence” from terror suspects.

[..]

In December, Tea Party Sarah lauded Obama’s decision to send another 30,000 troops into the Afghan meat grinder. “At long last, President Obama decided to give his military commanders much of what they need to accomplish their mission in Afghanistan,” Palin (or one of her handlers) wrote on her Facebook on December 1, 2009.

[..]

In regard to the Middle East, Palin sounds just like a run-of-the-mill neocon. “I believe that the Jewish settlements should be allowed to be expanded upon, because that population of Israel is, is going to grow,” Palin told Barbara Walters last November. “More and more Jewish people will be flocking to Israel in the days and weeks and months ahead. And I don’t think that the Obama administration has any right to tell Israel that the Jewish settlements cannot expand.”

Once again, Palin gets it wrong. In fact, people are deserting Israel in record numbers, especially educated professionals “who could not be integrated in Israel because of the unsuitability of their professions to the Israeli work force.” Others are leaving because the country is ruled by insane warmongers who are determined to start another war, this time with Iran. Palin supports the Israeli policy of stealing Palestinian land. She also apparently supports the Israeli bombing of civilians in Gaza.

It's a looonng time to 2012.

Who here honestly knew the name Scott Brown one month ago...the first week of this new year? Had any idea he would shake the Democrat Party to its core only one year after the beginning of Obama's reign?

If SP is so efin' scary to folks that elected a radical Marxist-Muslim to President, a guy who couldn't pass an FBI background-check and make field agent (yea that POS Obama), maybe SB isn't so scary??

Much ado about nothing.

What the leftists really fear is the sheer disgust people feel in government overall.

That's their REAL threat.

< Yes, I do look like that.
Personally I feel that Jeremiah 10:23 is worth consideration and that as a result no politician will ever truly do the job correctly, and that God's Kingdom is mankind's only chance at longterm survival, but I must admit I found Palin's "So how's that hopey-changey thing working for ya?" soundbite hysterical.

Palin is memorable, Obama is not. That alone gives her power he lacks.

Take'm off the Board and what is left. Not much. The Tea Party needs these people because a zillion people listen to them.

So they are not Pure. Tough titty, they are the best we got right now.

Which is quite sad, but because she is the least scary thing out there. Anybody who has to crib for a screened Q&A audience really isn't too terribly on the ball are they? The spirit to spirit on my side is that she is a tool for the PTB and they will use her and abuse her.

If you don't vote, don't bitch.

Nope, wrong answer...

If you did vote don't bitch - you had a chance and chose poorly or were ineffective in your choosings. Those that refuse to play their game have every right to mock those that insist on mud wrestling with the pigmen, erm, pigs.

It's worse than you can imagine. Today, the MSM is reporting that she wrote: "Call Mom" on her palm.

She is jerking chains all over the place and the jerkees are so seething with Palin Derangement Syndrome they can't even feel it.

Hmmm, lets see now...you got two really big speeches to give within days of each other and you won't/don't have to have crib notes to keep everything in line? WOW! You have *got* to have absolute total recall. OUTSTANDING!!

I disagree. Ineffective is bitching about the evil two party system and doing NOTHING about it. Plenty of folks to tell you that the system is corrupt, but I've yet to hear what part they are playing in fixing it.

Palin certainly does appear to give the lefties a royal case of heartburn.

Their hatred of her is truly without logic, reason or cause.

Such "let me be clear" illogic will be their undoing as will their remaining dopey, hopey & changey adherence to their Great & Beloved Leader.

The sooner their marxist agenda is thwarted the better.

NOVEMBER 2010 elections... badly needs to return power to We The People.
