I did, she didn't like it. And your right, just looking for a good deal.

Should have done, what I've done before...buy the ammo first!

True for all of us: “You pays your money and makes your choices.”

I saw some cases of Federal, .45 ball yesterday.

This place is usually 10-15% higher than most. It's the locally owned "high end" outdoors shop. They keep pile of Yeti, North Face, Kimber and such.

I may have to rethink it, as a speculative purchase.

Trading ammo for ammo or guns for guns is the way to barter right now. You are trading equal value, both higher, but still equal so you dont get the new screw you price hit. I traded an AR for a 686 S&W and some 300 BLK for 9mm. Everyone got what they wanted, no cash or .gov tracking.

You made out, much better, imho.

Oh wait, I read that wrong. The other guy got the deal:D

Do you want another 686, chrome 6"...

I was considering for having an injection mold made for my new perimeter alarm design. "New and improved" as they say. I 3d printed a bunch for testing but PLA sucks when it gets left in a hot car. I may just have to print them in Nylon but I need a better machine for that. The design is to complicated to machine affordably in aluminum so injection molding is the ticket.

The problem is they use 209 shotgun primers, and primers will be a no go for most people for a year or two. I guess I will have to put this on the back burner for now.

I can also see guys with multiple same caliber weapons (like 9mm or .223) trading one of them for ammo to feed the remaining, too.

Shotgun primers are about the only ones available now. How much heat will the PLA models take? Might be interested in some (10, maybe 20).

Full sun will make them unusable. A hot car can destroy one in two minutes. Basically no good at all unless kept in air conditioning, that's why I have not sold any. In testing they work great, I fired one a dozen times in a row and are 100% reliable. The tension from the spring makes it worse since it is putting it under pressure and as soon as the heat softens it, it twist all over.

People should have bought more ammo and less guns
Absolutely correct! Che Guevara's book about guerilla warfare spoke about ammo being the true prize as guns were plentiful and laying about on the ground. Went on to explain that one of the primary considerations factored before initiating contact was replenishing the spent ammo from the mobile govt supply depot about to be ambushed!

In my opinion, the real "what ya should have done way back when".....is turn off the sports ball and read a book that will teach ya something! Not too late for that by the way, and the overpaid sportsball negroids are giving you every reason imaginable to do so.

Have you thought about them using percussion caps? Or 22 blanks?
I made a couple to use 22 blanks because I got a ton of them at a yard sale once.

I'm on SGA now and the only 38 Special showing is snakeshot. 38 S&W is a different, older, weaker cartridge.

I used to launch Estes rockets with a cut-down .22 firing blanks that was aimed into the back end. Instant ignition, and much more satisfying to yank a lanyard than light a fussy little fuse.

I traded a DPMS Panther Oracle for a FAL built on a Imbel receiver.

A bit more work, but have a screw in nipple so that #10 or 11 caps could be used OR 209 primers when the nipple is removed...just a thought...

I don't know if it has been mentioned on the thread so far, but save your old used primers when you reload. If worse comes to worse, you can reload them. Remember those crappy green strike on box matches that replaced the nice "strike anywhere" ones. Well as bad as they are at being matches, they make GOOD primer powder when ground up and mixed with a very fine abrasive. There are several different youtube videos on how to do it, and knowing how to do things like this will help greatly when the time comes.

What if you can't buy primers for handloading, DIY ammo option - YouTube

And a second quick note... For those wanting REALLY nice, but cheap ammo for your slingshots, go to a few of your local auto mechanic's shops and ask them for the old damaged CV joints. In each one are half a dozen or more good sized chrome plated, steel ball bearings (along with a lot of other good parts). I am sure that they will be glad to collect a few large cardboard boxes a month for you for a $10 or $20 note. Sizes range from around a half inch up to almost an inch from the ones I have seen on passenger vehicles.

And lastly... Your classic spud gun can be necked down to work with golf balls as well. Very good crowd control. Just saying....

I spent some time yesterday morning talking to an employee in the gun department at Academy (big box sporting goods store). He "gets it" and is well stocked personally.

He said they are still getting random ammo shipments a few times each week. It is almost all 9mm and 223. He's convinced factory ammo lines have been prioritized for those 2 calibers. There are people that come in daily to see if any ammo was delivered. I saw a few while I was there. Thousands of rounds of 223 and 9mm go out the door soon after each delivery. That is with a 3 box per person limit on 9mm and 223 only. However, each box can be 20, 50, 120 or even 500, depending on the delivery. First in line gets 3 bigger boxes if there are any, then it's down to boxes of 50 then 20.

He also mentioned they are getting practically no resupply on "hunting rifle" or pistol ammo. The supply they have is just dropping each week. Lack of deer hunting ammo will be a problem in the fall unless something changes. They've blocked off almost all of their normal space for ammo (and pistols in the glass cabinets). Selection is honestly pathetic.

Those would work good in my cannons for grapeshot.

I can do AR-15 platform carbine and pistol in 5.56, .300AAC and 6.5 Grendel. AR-10, just rifle.

I do not anticipate lasting longer than my ammo supply.

But I REALLY wanted a JAKAL .........
