This is more for a smile than anything. The local farm store, the folks have gotten to know me as one of the ammo seekers. Well, I was talking to one of the regular workers and I mention how the guns have been flying off the shelf, even longer back than this, but particularly since Christmas. He tells me a few days ago a lady, who was 90, came in and bought two ARs for herself. We are about 100 miles from the biggest city, but she said she was going to be ready when the looters came. I ask "When was the last time you had any 5.56 or .223..." He tells "I know, I know, we tried to tell her..." She'll find very small amounts at local guns stores on a hit and miss basis, but 90 years old and two ARs ready for the looters.

Actually, ONE of my ARs (before it was lost in that tragic boating accident) actually could fit a standard .mil Vietnam-era bayonet perfectly. One was too long and the other too short.

How I wish I still had them....
Being as you can't swim you ought to stay out of boats. But.... you being a Yankee you won't listen to us boys down south.

Your loss

We are sorry

You all are assuming that those are her first purchases... and that she doesn't already have ammo.
You beat me too it. A 90 year old going out for her first guns seems slightly unlikely. Her being from the back woods and already aware of potential issues seems like she could just be adding some extra fire power to the mix.

ETA: plus if she was already aware of the possible "looters" then she likely wanted to seem dumb to the gun shop guys so as not to let on to what she has. After all she would have had to give personal info to purchase the guns. If she was smart the last thing she wants is strangers knowing what she potentially has beyond those two guns.

Pretty sure they got a shotty and rifle. Just needed ones with those 30rd detachable magazines. To hard to reload in a hurry! Watch the news looters travel in packs now. Smart older couple. 50 years ago biggest worry would be someone stealing gas off the farm.

She didn't have any. When the salesman told her that they didn't have any and probably nobody in town did, she bought them anyhow saying she'd find ammo "some where." You gotta lover her tenacity!.
