1- There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours. I'm fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and
2- I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.

Yes, exactly! He is solely and personally responsible, him alone. His ego and arrogance, combined with his pure hatred of anything decent, all combined to this event.

If he was of a clear, rational mind and thought he would have checked, rechecked, and checked again to see if the weapon was indeed loaded with either blanks or live rounds. Instead he picked the weapon up, pointed it at the woman, and pulled the trigger. Since he’s been an untouchable for all these years he didn’t think, he just acted out.

What I find interesting is the woman that was killed was also a investigative reporter in Europe,
and she was originally from the Ukraine. Before she became a cinematographer.

In spades. He is an antigun leftist and a hypocrite that eschews firearms and gun violence but it is a hallmark of the movies he is featured in. Justice would demand he is held to the same standard the rest if us are. He should face involuntary manslaughter charges and should be sued by the families for negligence……at the least. And of course he will deflect blame on those that gave him a ‘hot‘ gun.

That being said I can extend a branch of mercy towards him as I can imagine how I would feel if I in a moment of ignorance or distraction caused someone death or great bodily harm. I can pity him and what he is going through yet I despise the man and everything he stands for, but he needs to be held accountable both criminally and civally the same way any of us would be.

These are some of the ugliest comments I've read about someone in a long time. No matter what you think of his politics, acting, what have you, he is a fellow human being, husband, father of five or six kids. No matter what happens legally, he will have to live with this for the rest of his life. He deserves prayer, as does the young lady who'd lost her life and the young man who was also injured. The image of his grieving breaks my heart and offers insight into how devastated and broken he is right now.

It helps that they're really effing stupid. As soon as someone picks up a firearm in my "area", I immediately get nervous and watch that guy like a hawk. First thing he does wrong, I say something about safety and walk off the line. Once had a kid about 9 waving a semi auto around at a private residence with a lot of acreage. I walked over and told him in front of his daddy that that was not acceptable and to give me the gun. Dad was sheepish. Knew I was right.

You can't take this kind of thing back.

Too many regulations that aren't enforced. What should happen in a movie production doesn't have to happen in every movie production. Watch the "did not know" excuses.

This thread started with how did someone behind the camera get shot? When you shoot the other person in the scene just off of them, the direction could end up being the people behind the camera.

This guy's life has been one big trainwreck. Too bad he finally really hurt someone. Why didn't they stop him? I can't even imagine pointing a gun at someone and pulling the trigger even if I "thought" it had blanks in it. I just couldn't do it. In self defense yes, but play acting? No. No way.

It is when anyone handles a weapon MUST clear the weapon regardless of who handed him the pistol. It doesn’t matter, he pulled the trigger. Whether screwing around or going off in a hate trump tirade he, Alex MF Baldwin pulled the trigger. No one else is responsible for his styoopid actions which led to the death of one individual and the wounding of another.

The only "unloaded gun" is one that you have personally unloaded and has never left your hands.

Set it down and you must check it again.

Even then, one never points at anyone else, period.
