New COVID variant detected in South Africa, most mutated variant so far
The C.1.2 variant first detected in South Africa is more mutated compared to the original virus than any other known variant.

By TZVI JOFFRE
AUGUST 29, 2021 14:47

A new coronavirus variant, C.1.2, has been detected in South Africa and a number of other countries, with concerns that it could be more infectious and evade vaccines, according to a new preprint study by South Africa's National Institute for Communicable Diseases and the KwaZulu-Natal Research Innovation and Sequencing Platform. The study is awaiting peer review.

Scientists first detected C.1.2 in May 2021, finding that it was descended from C.1, which scientists found surprising as C.1 had last been detected in January. The new variant has "mutated substantially" compared to C.1 and is more mutations away from the original virus detected in Wuhan than any other Variant of Concern (VOC) or Variant of Interest (VOI) detected so far worldwide.

While first detected in South Africa, C.1.2 has since been found in England, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mauritius, New Zealand, Portugal and Switzerland.

The scientists believe that the number of available sequences of C.1.2 may be an underrepresentation of the spread and frequency of the variant in South Africa and around the world. The study found consistent increases in the number of C.1.2 genomes in South Africa on a monthly basis, rising from 0.2% of genomes sequenced in May to 1.6% in June and then to 2% in July, similar to the increases seen with the Beta and Delta variants there.

The study also found that the C.1.2 lineage has a mutation rate of about 41.8 mutations per year, which is nearly twice as fast as the current global mutation rate of the other variants. The scientists stated that this short period of increased evolution was also seen with the Alpha, Beta and Gamma variants, suggesting that a single event, followed by a spike in cases, drove faster mutation rates.

More than half of the C.1.2 sequences have 14 mutations, but additional mutations have been noticed in some of the sequences, suggesting that evolution within the lineage is ongoing, according to the study.

More than half (about 52%) of the mutations in the spike region of the C.1.2 sequences have previously been seen in other VOCs and VOIs. The mutations N440K and Y449H, which have been associated with escape from certain antibodies, have also been noticed in C.1.2 sequences. The scientists stressed that the combination of these mutations, as well as changes in other parts of the virus, likely help the virus evade antibodies and immune responses, including in patients who have already been infected with the Alpha or Beta variants.

The scientists added that further work is required to understand the exact impact of these mutations and to see if they give the variant a competitive advantage over the Delta variant.

The study comes as a doctor in Turkey reported indications that a new coronavirus variant had been detected in the country, with tests detecting mutations that weren't found in the current variants named by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Dr. Lütfi Çamli told Turkish media that while tests were conducted to detect the presence of variants around Turkey, doctors found a new variant with no connection to the other variants, reaching a rate of about 50%-60% of cases in the northern province of Rize. Çamli stressed, however, that it is still unclear whether they have actually found a new variant or if it was just the result of false negativity in PCR tests.

The doctor additionally stressed that it is normal for new mutations to emerge in an epidemic and that the mutations recently found in Turkey may not have any serious effect on how the virus functions. Çamli called for further research and for the results of genomic tests of the samples carried out in Ankara to be released to the public.

As of last Wednesday, the WHO had identified four VOCs and four VOIs. As of last Thursday, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) had identified five and six respectively. A number of other variants have been designated for further monitoring.

Putin Opposes Mandatory Jabs, Says People Should Get Vaccinated Without Coercion
by Tyler Durden
Sunday, Aug 29, 2021 - 05:30 PM

Russian President Vladimir Putin says that while people need to get vaccinated to "overcome this pandemic," nobody's job should be on the line if they refuse.

Speaking last weekend during a meeting with the governing United Russia party ahead of next month's parliamentary elections, Putin said "We need to do everything we can to overcome this pandemic," adding "and the best tool we have in this fight is vaccination."

"Vaccination is the main weapon against the spread of the virus. Importantly, no one should be forced to get a jab. Pressure, where people may lose their jobs, is even less acceptable. People must be convinced of the need to get the vaccine," he said.

"This must be done persistently and respectfully. People should be convinced of the need to get vaccinated in order to save their lives and health, and to protect their loved ones."

Russian President Vladimir Putin has recently come out against forcing citizens in Russia to get vaccinated through coercion, particularly through threatening their employment.

— real Rukshan (@therealrukshan) August 29, 2021

As Russian state-funded RT notes, "On Friday, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko announced that more than 43 million people have had one of the country’s four domestically made coronavirus vaccines. However, this number, he said, “is not enough yet” and “we will feel safer when the number of people who have protection against infection reaches more than 80%.” At present, close to one in four Russians has been immunized against the virus, and it is unclear how many more may have developed antibodies after being infected with the virus across the nation."

Putin's comments appear to be at odds with official policy throughout several sectors of the Russian economy. In Moscow, for example, "companies in industries such as hospitality, leisure and transport must demonstrate that 60% of their staff have been vaccinated or else face hefty fines. Officials have confirmed that businesses can send home employees without pay if they refuse, in order to meet the quotas."

1 in 3 Americans Already Had COVID-19 by the End of 2020
By Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health
August 29, 2021

Undocumented infections accounted for estimated three-quarters of infections last year.

A new study published in the journal Nature estimates that 103 million Americans, or 31 percent of the U.S. population, had been infected with SARS-CoV-2 by the end of 2020. Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health researchers modeled the spread of the coronavirus, finding that fewer than one-quarter of infections (22%) were accounted for in cases confirmed through public health reports based on testing.

The study is the first to comprehensively quantify the overall burden and characteristics of COVID-19 in the U.S. during 2020. The researchers simulated the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 within and between all 3,142 U.S. counties using population, mobility, and confirmed case data.

Infections were more widespread in some areas of the country. In areas of the upper Midwest and Mississippi valley, including the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa, more than 60 percent of the population is estimated to have been infected by the end of 2020. In five metropolitan areas the researchers examined, 48 percent of residents of Chicago, 52 percent of Los Angeles, 42 percent of Miami, 44 percent of New York City, and 27 percent of people in Phoenix, had been infected in the same timeframe.

Testing picked up on a growing number of infections but offered an incomplete picture. The portion of confirmed cases reflected in the study’s estimates, i.e. the ascertainment rate, rose from 11 percent in March to 25 percent in December, reflecting improved testing capacity, a relaxation of initial restrictions on test usage, and increasing recognition, concern, and care-seeking among the public. However, the ascertainment rate remained well below 100 percent, as individuals with mild or asymptomatic infections, who could still spread the virus, were less likely to be tested.

“The vast majority of infectious were not accounted for by the number of confirmed cases,” says Jeffrey Shaman, PhD, professor of environmental health sciences at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. “It is these undocumented cases, which are often mild or asymptomatic infectious, that allow the virus to spread quickly through the broader population.”

One in 130 Americans was contagious at year’s end. Roughly 1 in 130 Americans (0.77%) was contagious with SARS-CoV-2 on December 31, 2020. A similar percentage (0.83%) was estimated to be latently infected, i.e. infected but not yet contagious. In some metropolitan areas, the percentage of individuals who was contagious at year’s end was much higher.

Fatality rates fell with strengthening treatments and public health measures. The percentage of people with infections who died from COVID-19 fell from 0.8 percent during the spring wave to 0.3 percent by year’s end. Urban areas like New York City that peaked in the spring saw the worst numbers for reasons that include delays in testing availability and masking mandates, overwhelmed hospitals, and lack of effective treatments.

Cities peaked at different times of the year. New York and Chicago experienced strong spring and fall/winter waves but little activity during summer; Los Angeles and Phoenix underwent summer and fall/winter waves; and Miami experienced all three waves. Los Angeles County, the largest county in the U.S. with a population of more than 10 million people, was particularly hard-hit during the fall and winter and had a community infection rate of 2.4 percent on December 31.

A new pandemic landscape for 2021. Looking ahead, the authors write that several factors will alter population susceptibility to infection. The virus will continue to spread to those who haven’t yet been infected. While vaccines protect against severe and fatal disease, breakthrough infections, including those that are mild or asymptomatic, will contribute to the spread of the virus. The current study does account for the possibility of reinfection, although there is evidence of waning antibodies and reinfection. New more contagious variants make reinfection and breakthrough infections more likely.

“While the landscape has changed with the availability of vaccines and the spread of new variants, it is important to recognize just how dangerous the pandemic was in its first year,” concludes Sen Pei, PhD, assistant professor of environmental health sciences at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.

Delta Variant Is 60% More Contagious Than Original COVID Virus and Can Escape Immunity
By Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health
August 29, 2021

The Delta variant is more contagious than original SARS-CoV-2 and better able to escape prior immunity, according to modeling studies of coronavirus variants.

Researchers at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health used a computer model to estimate that the Delta variant is around 60 percent more contagious than the original SARS-CoV-2 virus and can escape immunity from prior infection roughly half of the time. Compared to Delta, Beta and Gamma are less transmissible but more able to escape immunity. Compared to the original virus, Iota is more fatal to older adults.

Findings from three studies of SARS-CoV-2 variants are published on the medRxiv pre-print server ahead of publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

“New variants of SARS-CoV-2 have become widespread, but currently vaccines are still highly effective in preventing severe disease from these infections, so please get vaccinated if you have not done so,” says Wan Yang, PhD, assistant professor of epidemiology and lead author of the studies. “It is important that we closely monitor the spread of these variants so as to guide continued preventive measures, vaccination campaigns, and the assessment of vaccine efficacy. More fundamentally, to limit the emergence of new variants and end the COVID-19 pandemic, we need global efforts to vaccinate all populations worldwide, and continue using other public health measures until a sufficient portion of the population is protected by vaccination.”

Delta

The researchers estimate that the Delta variant (B.1.617.2) is 10 to 20 percent more transmissible than Alpha, another highly contagious variant of concern. In addition, unlike Alpha which has been shown to cause minimal immune evasion, Delta is also able to evade prior immunity in around half of individuals previously infected by the ancestral strain. These findings are in line with estimates from the U.K. that Alpha is around 1.5 times more likely to result in an infection (combining the 10-20% increase in transmissibility with <~50% increase in susceptibility due to immune evasion for prior natural infection and, to a lesser extent, vaccination). Compared to Beta and Gamma, the Delta variant is more transmissible but less able to escape immunity. A decline in Delta cases in India beginning in early May was likely due to the implementation of public health measures and weather conditions. Monsoon season (June–September) and the winter (December–January) could see higher virus transmission. The Delta variant was first detected in December 2020 and has spread to 142 countries, as of August 10.

Alpha, Beta, and Gamma

In addition to Delta, Alpha (B.1.1.7), Beta (B.1.351), and Gamma (P.1) are the other three SARS-CoV-2 variants currently classified by the WHO as variants of concern that have spread globally. The researchers estimate that Alpha is roughly 50 percent more transmissible than the original virus but possesses only nominal ability to escape protection provided by prior infection with the original SARS-CoV-2 variant. Beta has a roughly 30 percent increase in transmissibility and 60 percent immune escape and Gamma has a roughly 40 percent increase in transmissibility and 50 percent immune escape.

Iota

Iota (B.1.526), a WHO variant of interest, is estimated to be 15-25 percent more transmissible than the original SARS-CoV-2 and slightly immune evasive (0-10%). The study, which focused on New York City, where the Iota variant emerged in November 2020, found that Iota substantially increased the infection-fatality risk compared to preexisting variants among older adults: by roughly 45 percent among 45-64-year-olds, 80 percent among 65-74-year-olds, and 60 percent among those 75 and older, during November 2020–April 2021.

Computer Model

The researchers developed computer models of COVID-19 to estimate the changes in transmissibility and immune escape for each variant, based on case and mortality data from the country where each variant emerged. Models accounted for under-detection of infection, disease seasonality, concurrent non-pharmaceutical interventions, and mass vaccination.

Furthermore, the fixation on these false cures distracts from the tremendous achievement of Covid-19 vaccines, which we know not only prevent infection but also prevent disease severity in the way that ivermectin believers hope their drug will. I am a doctor and a scientist, and I desperately hope we discover more viable therapeutics for treatment of this pandemic. But here in the United States, we already have access to something much better: safe, effective, life-saving vaccines. Now we just need people to stop looking for false cures in the feed store and get vaccinated.

A newly published World Health Organization (WHO) report urges the transition to digital certification of vaccine status, presenting implementation strategies for member states.

The report is labeled as “interim guidance” which should serve countries help in their fight against COVID-19 and “to capture vaccination status to protect against other diseases”.

The central premise appears to be the implementation of Digital Documentation of COVID-19 Certificates (DDCC) which will act as an agent to present and review vaccination status, history of SARS CoV-2 infection and test results. The report acts as a technical guidance, in regard to infrastructure, digital verification processes, and “ethical standards”.

The executive summary states:

In the context of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the concept of Digital Documentation of COVID-19 Certificates (DDCC) is proposed as a mechanism by which a person’s COVID-19-related health data can be digitally documented via an electronic certificate A digital vaccination certificate that documents a person’s current vaccination status to protect against COVID-19 can then be used for continuity of care or as proof of vaccination for purposes other than health care. The resulting artefact of this approach is referred to as the Digital Documentation of COVID-19 Certificates: Vaccination Status (DDCC:VS).

The main uses of DDCC – as reflected in the report – are:
  1. Continuity of care – record of vaccination – to inform individuals and health care workers when and what type of vaccine should a person receive (in the future).
  2. Proof of Vaccination – vaccination status for purposes not related to health care, such as University education, travel, survey participation.
    EXC: Media's ‘Lab Leak’ Denial Darling Is Actually Ex-Chinese Communist Advisor.
    The report also describes how vaccination should lead to different steps of verification and database administration, after the person receives the vaccination. The certification would transition through security verification steps until a digital certification is generated. Despite the detailed description of various verification steps, the report never signifies the reason why digital verification is needed and why nation states should follow the process to implement a whole new infrastructure. The only stated downside of paper-based verification is potential fraud.
Proof of Vaccination.
Furthermore, the report signifies scenarios where people have “to prove their COVID-19 vaccination status (such as care site, a school, or an airport).”, despite this policy being implemented in only a few places such as New York, France, and Italy.

Data sets & Structures.
The report states that bare minimum information should be included in the identification process. However, the WHO also lists mandatory, new data points that need to be linked to the vaccination status:
  • Name;
  • Date of Birth;
  • Unique Identifier (National ID, Health ID etc.);
  • Sex;
  • Vaccine type;
  • brand;
  • manufacturer;
  • market authorization holder;
  • batch number;
  • date of vaccination;
  • Vaccination valid from;
  • dose number;
  • total doses;
  • country of vaccination;
  • administering center;
  • signature of health worker;
  • health worker ID;
  • disease targeted (name of the disease that vaccine given to protect again);
  • Due date of next dose;
  • certificate issuer;
  • health certificate ID;
  • certificate valid from;
  • certificate valid until;
  • certificate schema version.
Implementation.
The certification can would “help” member states either as short-term solution or long-term. In the case of short-term solution, the report suggests the usage of certification until COVID-19 is no longer considered a public health emergency.

Member states, however, can also keep the system to address other pandemics and “to build digital health infrastructure that can be a foundation for digital vaccination certificates beyond COVID-19…”

The report funded is by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Government of Estonia, Fondation Botnar, the State of Kuwait, and the Rockefeller Foundation.

San Diego Proposal On Combatting COVID "Misinformation" Triggers Free Speech Concerns

MONDAY, AUG 30, 2021 - 04:59 PM
Authored by Jonathan Turley,

There is growing controversy in San Diego after the county board of supervisors introduced a proposal to declare “health misinformation a public health crisis” and enact measures to try to “combat” views deemed untrue or misleading. As a free speech advocate, I do not share some of the objections made to the proposals.

However, one item is deeply concerning.

On its face, the proposal calls for government agencies to combat bad information with better information on Covid. I have no problem with such informational programs. Even if people disagree with the government’s view of vaccines or mandates, they are free to voice their opposing views in the exercise of free speech. For example, while I opposed the Big Gulp laws and laws barring certain foods or advertising, I have always recognized the legitimate (and often positive) role of the government in highlighting what it views as good science or good practices.

What concerns me is this item:
“e). Partner with federal, state, territorial, tribal, private, nonprofit, research, and other local entities to identify best practices to stop the spread of health misinformation and develop and implement coordinated recommendations.”
There is a difference between countering and stopping misinformation. The latter has been a focus of Democratic members in Congress in seeking to censor opposing views on subjects from election fraud to climate change to Covid.

Direct censorship from “federal, state, territorial” offices would be subject to First Amendment challenges. However, the proposal also makes specific reference to private and other entities which would be enlisted to combat misinformation.

As previously discussed, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey appeared at a key hearing in which he followed up his apology for censoring the Hunter Biden story by pledging more censorship. One of the most chilling moments came from Delaware Senator Chris Coons who demonstrated the very essence of the “slippery slope” danger.
Dorsey: Well, misleading information, as you are aware, is a large problem. It’s hard to define it completely and cohesively. We wanted to scope our approach to start to focus on the highest severity of harm. We focused on three areas, manipulated media, which you mentioned, civic integrity around the election, specifically in public health, specifically around COVID. We wanted to make sure that our resources that we have the greatest impact on where we believe the greatest severity of harm is going to be. Our policies are living documents. They will evolve. We will add to them, but we thought it important that we focus our energies and prioritize the work as much as we could.
Coons: Well, Mr. Dorsey, I’ll close with this. I cannot think of a greater harm than climate change, which is transforming literally our planet and causing harm to our entire world. I think we’re experiencing significant harm as we speak. I recognize the pandemic and misinformation about COVID-19, manipulated media also cause harm, but I’d urge you to reconsider that because helping to disseminate climate denialism, in my view, further facilitates and accelerates one of the greatest existential threats to our world. So thank you to both of our witnesses.
Notably, Dorsey starts with the same argument made by free speech advocates:

“Well, misleading information, as you are aware, is a large problem. It’s hard to define it completely and cohesively.” However, instead of then raising concerns over censoring views and comments on the basis for such an amorphous category, Coons pressed for an expansion of the categories of censored material to prevent people from sharing any views that he considers “climate denialism”
There is, of course, a wide array of views that different people or different groups would declare “harmful.” Indeed, Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal seemed to take the opposite meaning from Twitter admitting that it was wrong to censor the Biden story. Blumenthal said that he was “concerned that both of your companies are, in fact, backsliding or retrenching, that you are failing to take action against dangerous disinformation.” Accordingly, he demanded an answer to this question:
“Will you commit to the same kind of robust content modification playbook in this coming election, including fact checking, labeling, reducing the spread of misinformation, and other steps, even for politicians in the runoff elections ahead?”
“Robust content modification” is the new Orwellian term for censorship.

The focus of the government needs to be combating what it views as bad speech with better speech, not trying to prevent or silence those deemed to be misleading others.

Here is the proposal: Board Letter

FDA Issues Warning About Increased Risk Of Heart Inflammation Caused By Moderna Jab

MONDAY, AUG 30, 2021 - 02:14 PM

Earlier this month, we reported on leaked data from a Canadian study which arrived at a disturbing conclusion: the risk of rare side effects like myocarditis and pericarditis - types of heart inflammation that are potentially deadly in some patients - was at least 2.5x higher in the Moderna jab than in its main competitor, produced by Pfizer-BioNTech.

The leaking of the data to the press was an embarrassment for the FDA and CDC, and so they pledged to investigate. Now, less than two weeks later, the FDA has just announced that it has updated its "fact sheet" to reflect the higher risk of heart inflammation in male patients under the age of 40.

For all patients, the "post-marketing" data examined by the FDA show that the risk of experiencing these side effects is highest within 7 days of receiving the second dose.

Only Pfizer has received full approval from the FDA; the Moderna jab is still technically under the emergency authorization. Whether this will delay or in any way impact the FDA's approval of the Moderna jab remains unclear.

Here's the full updated text:
Myocarditis and Pericarditis Postmarketing data demonstrate increased risks of myocarditis and pericarditis, particularly within 7 days following the second dose. The observed risk is higher among males under 40 years of age than among females and older males. The observed risk is highest in males 18 through 24 years of age. Although some cases required intensive care support, available data from short-term follow-up suggest that most individuals have had resolution of symptoms with conservative management. Information is not yet available about potential long-term sequelae. The CDC has published considerations related to myocarditis and pericarditis after vaccination, including for vaccination of individuals with a history of myocarditis or pericarditis
Questions about the link between the mRNA jabs and heart inflammation have been circulating since these side effects were first uncovered in a group of American soldiers reporting acute chest pain after their vaccinations.

The news is weighing on Moderna's share price, which has fallen substantially since its Aug. 9 peak. It was down more than 3% on Monday afternoon.

After seeing the breaking news headlines on Twitter, seized the opportunity to joke about the Moderna jab.

Protest Against Mandatory Vaxxing Turns Violent In Greece, 47 Detained

MONDAY, AUG 30, 2021 - 08:49 AM

On Sunday, protesters in Athens clashed with police against mandatory vaccination measures that go into effect on Sept. 1.

Police estimate about 8,000 people attended the rally in Syntagma Square, the central square of Athens, chanting anti-vaxx slogans and demanding government officials reverse mandatory vaccinations for all health workers that begins Wednesday.

At least 47 were detained in yesterday's demonstrations, police said in a statement Sunday evening, reported by local media Iefimerida.

Police said unruly protesters "threw objects" at police, and riot control response teams had to use tear gas, stun grenades, and water cannons to disperse the crowd.

Here's a stunning view of the demonstration.

According to AFP, the demonstrators held signs that read: "We are not against vaccines, but against fascism."

For several weeks, Greeks have been angered and taken to the streets to protest mandatory vaccinations, vaccine passports, and other virus-related measures.

Event the largest industry union, Panhellenic Federation of Employees in Public Hospitals, released a statement earlier this month, indicating it was against mandatory vaccinations for hospital workers.

The rise in government control over the lives of people under the guise of COVID is absolutely terrifying and continues to spread worldwide. Businesses and the government are forcing mandatory vaccinations and health passports, creating a multi-tier society of those who are vaxxed and unvaxxed.

Meanwhile, businesses and the government are entirely ignoring natural immunity, which could be up to 13x more effective than vaccines.

Australian Truckers Protest Mandatory Vaccines And Lockdowns, Block Major Highway

MONDAY, AUG 30, 2021 - 02:00 AM
Authored by Daniel Yang via The Epoch Times,

Australian truck drivers have blocked a major highway in the north-eastern state of Queensland in a protest against vaccine mandates and tough border restrictions, causing traffic to back up for several kilometres.

The action marks a series of ongoing protests from Australians frustrated with state government COVID-19 lockdowns and mandated restrictions based on emergency public health orders.

The drivers parked their prime movers at 5:30 a.m. on the southbound lanes of the M1 highway at Reedy Creek in the Gold Coast portion of the arterial on Monday. The highway is used by tens of thousands of Queenslanders each morning.

A banner was unfurled and covered the front of both vehicles, reading: “Truckies Keep Australia Moving, Not Politicians.”

One driver named Brock, who did not give his surname, said the drivers were protesting the Queensland government’s strict health orders that prevented all individuals from entering the state, except for essential workers.

Those deemed essential workers need to be involved in skilled construction, farming, or healthcare, and must prove that a Queensland resident cannot do their job. Further, they need to prove they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Queensland Police stop trucks at the Queensland border in Coolangatta, Australia, on Aug. 25, 2021 (Chris Hyde/Getty Images)
“End all lockdowns, people go back to work, and kids go back to school,” Brock told Nine’s Today show.
“That’s all we want out of it; we’ve had enough of it.
“We’ve had a lot the support mate, the people that showed up today is amazing. We appreciate everyone that’s come down,” he added, saying the police had been lenient about the protest, and he respected what they did.
“But it’s all about choice at the end of the day. If you don’t want to get the vax, don’t get the vax. If you do want to get it, get it. But just don’t keep locking up people.”
News footage showed federal One Nation Senator Pauline Hanson and her advisor James Ashby at the protest.

Acting Chief Superintendent Rhys Wildman of Gold Coast police said the truckers faced criminal charges.

Wildman said the M1 was blocked for 45 minutes, and emergency vehicles were held up, which was a “great concern.”

“There’s a bigger picture in this around putting lives at risk, which is really, really disappointing,” he told ABC Gold Coast. “We are investigating, and obviously, action will be taken against those particular drivers at a later time.”

The truckers’ rally comes a day before a planned Australia and New Zealand-wide protest on Aug. 31, that has been circulating on social media for weeks.
“Block every hwy [highway] entering into every state all at the same time & take back Australia,” one post on Facebook read, while warning people to stock up on enough food for a couple of weeks while truckies aim to block supply routes across the country.
Frustrations have begun boiling over in Australia over the COVID-19 lockdowns—which state government say are caused by the low vaccinations in the country—with protests against government-mandated lockdowns ramping up around the country in recent weeks.

On the weekend of Aug. 21, rallies were held in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth, and Coolangatta-Tweed Heads.

Over 1,000 residents in the Coolangatta-Tweed area—which saddles the state border between Queensland and New South Wales—held a rally complaining that the hard domestic border was affecting their livelihoods. Residents in the region regularly cross between the state border to access services.
“I was working [across the border], and now my source of income has been cut off, so I’m forced to be dependent on the government,” one rallygoer from Pottsville in northern NSW told the ABC.
“It’s really, really distressing, and we’re angry—we’re angry about our government.”
The Queensland government implemented the hard border in response to an outbreak of the Delta variant of COVID-19 in the Greater Sydney area—about 800 kilometres away—with sporadic outbreaks in the regions.

The northern NSW area, closest to Queensland, has had no active cases except for sewerage samples, as well as a man and his two teenage children found travelling to Byron Bay from Sydney last month.

The Federal Employment Minister Stuart Roberts said the health orders were tough but said the truckies should not have held the action on the Gold Coast and inconvenienced thousands.
“Vaccination seems to be the way for us to be able to get through this, to get back out of lockdown and to get ourselves back to the freedoms that we love here in Australia,” he said.

“The rest of the world is doing it. Sure, there is carnage left, right, and centre, but there is carnage left, right, and centre here.
The move also comes as Queensland becomes the first state to trial vaccination of international seafarers arriving at local ports. The International Transport Workers’ Federation backed the move.

“International seafarers are the backbone of the economy, but a growing number of COVID outbreaks on vessels arriving in Australian ports highlights the need for urgent action to protect the health of these workers, reduce the risk of community transmission, and strengthen supply chain resilience,” ITF Australia co-ordinator Ian Bray said.

Judge STRIPS Child From Mother For Being Unvaccinated, Vaccine Mandate Protests ERUPT All Over U.S.

Aug 30, 2021

Judge SEIZES Child From Mother For Being Unvaccinated, Vaccine Mandate Protests ERUPT All Over U.S. At a child support hearing a judge abruptly asked the mother if she had been vaccinated. The mother responded she hadn't, this being due to her doctors advise over past adverse events. The judge then ordered she not be allowed to see her child until she gets vaccinated. In the end, the mother loses custody for not being vaccinated despite her doctor's recommendations. While Democrats oddly are in favor of mass vaccine mandates and republicans basically say nothing people all over the U.S are rising up in protest over vaccine mandates.

Judge orders West Chester Hospital to treat COVID-19 patient with anti-parasite drug despite CDC warning
WLWT

Updated: 5:31 PM EDT Aug 30, 2021

BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio —
A Butler County judge has ordered a hospital to treat a COVID-19 patient with the anti-parasite drug Ivermectin, a drug known to be used to treat or prevent parasites in animals, despite the CDC warning against it.

Judge Gregory Howard issued the order last week after a complaint was made by a woman named Julie Smith, on behalf of her 51-year-old husband, Jeffrey Smith, who has been in the ICU at West Chester Hospital battling COVID-19.

In the complaint, Julie stated that her husband had been on a ventilator for 19 days after attempts to use treatments like Remdesivir, plasma and steroids.

That's when she stated she sought medical advice from their physician Dr. Fred Wagshul. In the complaint, it states Wagshul supported the use of Ivermectin and prescribed it to him. After the hospital refused to administer the treatment, Julie filed the complaint.

In the complaint, she states that she has signed a full release, relieving the hospital from any and all liability concerning the administration of the Ivermectin.

In the order, Howard stated that after reviewing the complaint filed by Julie on behalf of her husband, he is ordering the hospital to administer the drug to Jeffrey.

The judge said the drug will be administered in accordance with Dr. Wagshul's, prescription, which is a 30-mg dose of Ivermectin daily for 21 days.

Ivermectin isn't the first medicine that has garnered the hopes of curious or vaccine-hesitant people as a potential treatment for COVID-19, but it's the one drawing potential patients to farm supply and pet stores across the country.

The FDA has been warning against the use of ivermectin for treatment of COVID-19 since March. The drug is used to treat parasitic infections, primarily in livestock, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently cautioned about an increase in reports to poison centers of severe illness caused by the drug.

In a CDC health advisory issued Thursday, the agency said the use of Ivermectin can result in "gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Overdoses are associated with hypotension and neurologic effects such as decreased consciousness, confusion, hallucinations, seizures, coma, and death."

While there are human uses for the drug, the Food and Drug Administration has not approved ivermectin to treat or prevent COVID-19 in humans and the drug is not an anti-viral medication.

I said would these be the PCR test that are to be discontinued at the end of this year or new ones from t he company that Soros and Gates just bought for covid testing?

Are these the same tests that had too many cycles resulting i. 85% false positives and only at January 21 did they reduce the count which reduced the covid instances.

I did not even get a notification, my posts were deleted and I was blocked from the group.

New COVID variant detected in South Africa, most mutated variant so far

The C.1.2 variant first detected in South Africa is more mutated compared to the original virus than any other known variant.

Dr. Lütfi Çamlı told Turkish media that while tests were conducted to detect the presence of variants around Turkey, doctors found a new variant with no connection to the other variants, reaching a rate of about 50%-60% of cases in the northern province of Rize. Çamlı stressed, however, that it is still unclear whether they have actually found a new variant or if it was just the result of false negativity in PCR tests.

The doctor additionally stressed that it is normal for new mutations to emerge in an epidemic and that the mutations recently found in Turkey may not have any serious effect on how the virus functions. Çamlı called for further research and for the results of genomic tests of the samples carried out in Ankara to be released to the public.

As of last Wednesday, the WHO had identified four VOCs and four VOIs. As of last Thursday, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) had identified five and six respectively. A number of other variants have been designated for further monitoring.

Triple Vaxxed is the new Double Vaxxed.

Restrictions will be placed on citizens who have only received two Vaccines beginning September 1. People who do not receive a third Vaccine shot will be denied a green passport, which allows entry into public life.

“This is simply because, in terms of its effectiveness, the vaccine is valid only for a period of five or six months. After about half a year, you have to get a third dose. Otherwise, the vaccine loses its power.”

“The Green Pass testifies that a person is safe in a certain way. So the moment we know that the vaccine loses its effectiveness after a certain period, there’s no justification for giving a green pass to someone who hasn’t gotten another dose.”

Coronavirus digest: New Zealand reports first vaccine-linked death

Coronavirus pfizer vaccine
New Zealand has registered its first first death linked to the BioNTech-Pfizer coronavirus vaccine

New Zealand has reported its first death linked to a coronavirus vaccine, the government announced on Monday. The news comes as the country struggles to deal with an outbreak of the delta variant of the virus after recording no cases for six months.

The death of the woman after taking the BioNTech-Pfizer shot has been attributed to myocarditis, a rare side effect of inflammation of her heart muscle.

"This is the first case in New Zealand where a death in the days following vaccination has been linked to the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine," the ministry said in a statement, without releasing her age.

Pfizer said such side effects were extremely rare and that the company takes "adverse events that are potentially associated with our vaccine very seriously."

New Zealand's health ministry said other medical issues could have influenced the final outcome and that the vaccine’s benefits outweighed risks from side effects.

With 53 new cases reported on Monday, the current outbreak has been linked to 562 cases.

Here are the latest developments on coronavirus from around the world.

Americas

The United States is sticking to its decision to offer booster shots eight months after Americans receive their vaccine, given the highly contagious delta variant, the government's top infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci said.

US President Joe Biden had earlier suggested that authorities were considering whether to give the boosters as early as five months after vaccination, but Fauci said the eight-month US guidance will stay: "We're not changing it, but we are very open to new data as it comes in. We're going to be very flexible about it."

Europe

The World Health Organization (WHO) said it feared another 236,000 deaths from the virus in Europe by December 1. The organization also expressed concern over stagnating vaccination rates and low uptake in poorer countries. Europe has registered around 1.3 million deaths so far. Just around half of people in Europe are fully vaccinated.

The European Union plans to recommend reinstating retrictions on tourists from the US due to rising infection rates in the country, EU diplomats said.

A decision to remove the US from a safe list of countries for nonessential travel would reverse advice from June, when the bloc recommended lifting restrictions on US travelers before the summer tourism season. The guidance could come as early as this week, officials said.

Germany has recorded 4,559 new cases of the virus, taking the country’s tally to 3,937,106, according to data from the Robert Koch Institute for infectious diseases. Ten new deaths were recorded in the latest one-day period.

Protesters clashed with police in Athens, Greece, late Sunday at the site of a demonstration against COVID-19 vaccinations.

More than 7,000 people took part in the protests against the government's plans to make vaccinations mandatory for health workers and students. Some people attacked the police with firecrackers, bottles and firebombs. The police used stun grenades, tear-gas and a water cannon to disperse protesters.

Another massive protest took place in Thessaloniki, Greece's second largest city, but it was a peaceful one, police said.

France is set to provide 10 million doses of AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines to Africa over the next three months, President Emmanuel Macron's office announced on Monday. The jabs "will be allocated and distributed in the framework of the (African Union's) African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT) and Covax," the partnership for equitable vaccine rollout, Macron's office said.

The office said that enough jabs had now been purchased through AVAT to enable the vaccination of 400 million people in Africa, or a third of the continent's population, by September 2022.

Middle East

Israel has approved a coronavirus booster shot program that will cover all residents over the age of 12, expanding the earlier decision to provide booster shots to all Israelis over 60.

The booster will be offered to people in their 50s, 40s and 30s in the following weeks. More than 2 million people — 20% of the country's population — has received a third dose amid concerns about the highly infectious delta variant of the virus.

Asia

Malaysia's new prime minister missed the inauguration of his own cabinet on Monday, after coming into contact with someone infected with the virus and being forced to isolate. Ismail Sabri Yaakob was inaugurated earlier this month after the previous government collapsed due to in-fighting. He will also virtually join celebrations on Tuesday to mark Malaysia's National Day.

Oceania

New Zealand's largest city and the epicenter of its latest COVID outbreak, Auckland, will stay under a level 4 lockdown for another two weeks, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced on Monday.

Restrictions in Northland, a region bordering Auckland in the northern parts of the country, will see an ease in restrictions, she said. The region will now be under a level 3 lockdown.

As Australia struggles to control the spread of the coronavirus, airline Virgin Australia said it will require all frontline employees be fully vaccinated by November 15. The rest of the employees will have until March 31, 2022, to get their shots.

"It is clear that vaccination is the only way back to normal freedom of movement and the richness in life that comes from spending meaningful, in-person time with family, friends and colleagues," Virgin Australia's chief Jayne Hrdlicka said.

Australia registered a record 1,323 local infections on Sunday amidst increased protests against prolonged lockdowns in the country.

U.S. Truckers Plan Nationwide Protest Against Mandatory Vaccines: “On August 31st, On Tuesday, We’re Asking That Everybody Not Go To Work… This Truck Is Shut Down Officially” (VIDEO)

By Jordan Conradson
Published August 30, 2021 at 4:45pm

Tomorrow, Truckers across the United States will stop driving their trucks for at least one day to fight against vaccine mandates.

Canceled Tik Tok creator, @thedisrespectedtrucker3 and other social media users have organized a nationwide trucker strike.

The Trucker and CDL Life that a protest against mandatory vaccines was planned for truckers across the United States.

On Thursday, CLD Life reported,
A trucker-founded anti-vaccine mandate protest is seemingly in the works for the end of this month according to several trucker social media groups.

If carried out, the demonstration will be an alliance between healthcare workers, truckers, military members, and other citizens across the country, and will protest the requirement of the COVID-19 vaccine for employment, travel, and more. The demonstrators, seemingly headed by Tik Tok trucker @thedisrespectedtrucker3, will gather at various locations across the country August 31st – the same day that the Australian trucker protest against COVID lockdown and restrictions is being held.

In addition to the nearly-viral Tik Tok videos put out by @disrespectedtrucker3, the Facebook Group StopTheTires2020, a group that attempted to organize a nationwide demonstration against the election results and COVID19 lockdowns just last year, has gotten wind of the potential strike and is calling for all drivers to stop their trucks for just one day.

“When I say it’s not about the trucking industry, it’s not about the trucking industry,” disrespected trucker says. “We just have the power to shut the country down.”

“On August 31st, on Tuesday, we’re asking that everybody not go to work,” disrespected trucker explained. “If they’re out on the road, shut your truck down. There are guys that plan on putting their trucks across the road. There’s guys who plan on parking on the side of the road, parking at home, and at truck stops.”

“I’m not telling anyone how to do it or what to do,” he continued.
“I’m just telling people to shut your trucks down, and nobody go to work at least for Tuesday. Maybe for the rest of the week. Until we get their attention in DC, we’re going to have to keep putting up with bulls**t mandates. What’s going on with the nurses and the military right now isn’t right. So, we’re going to stand up for Freedom.”
On Friday, The Disrespected Trucker tweeted a video of him putting his money where his mouth is.
Well, I guess it’s time for me to put up, or shut up, right? This truck is shut down officially. I’ll see you guys in St. Paul tomorrow, at the capitol. I will be getting back in the truck to drive it up there to help stand with you healthcare workers at the capitol. Other than that, this truck ain’t movin.

Today, he announced that he was removed from Tik Tok and that we are in deep trouble if we do not stand up to censorship.
Censorship is real folks. I just got banned off of Tik Tok for absolutely nothing, I didn’t threaten anybody, I didn’t bully anybody. I didn’t promote violence, but they banned me anyway. You know why that is?

Because I got 85,000 followers in less than a week, because I speak the truth. It’s sad what this country is coming to. And if we don’t all start standing up against this, we’re in deep trouble, just so you know. Anyway, I guess I’ll be on here a little bit more until they ban me off of here which I’m sure is coming very shortly. Have a good day.

Covid Vaccines Less Effective at Preventing Hospitalization, CDC Says

By Cristina Laila

The CDC on Monday came out and said Covid vaccines are less effective at preventing hospitalizations, particularly for people over 75.

The drop in vaccine effectiveness is being blamed on the Delta variant.

ABC reported:
The COVID-19 vaccines’ ability to keep people out of the hospital appears to be dropping slightly, particularly for those 75 and older, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Monday during an advisory panel.
The CDC has previously estimated that 97% of people in the hospital being treated for COVID-19 are unvaccinated, but that data was collected before the spread of delta, a hyper-transmissible variant that many doctors have warned appears to be making people sicker.

The latest CDC analysis estimates that the ability of the COVID vaccines to keep a person out of the hospital is now between 75% to 95%.
For people older than 75 in particular, vaccine effectiveness against hospitalization experienced the steepest decline, from more than 90% to 80% between June and July.
The CDC made this announcement 11 days after its director said that people who received the Covid vaccine early on are at an increased risk for severe disease.

“We are seeing concerning evidence of waning vaccine effectiveness over time and against the Delta variant,” Walensky said a couple weeks ago.

Walensky continued, “Reports from our international colleagues, including Israel, suggest increased risk of SEVERE disease amongst those vaccinated early.”

Joe Biden is in discussions with Fauci for a Covid booster every 5 months.
