So I'm looking at the two boxes of 20ea 99mm that arrived today, total cost was $75. And then at the two small bottles of B&B that cost $27 each. I know that 9mm is almost impossible to find and we are greatful to have it, a little bit of something is better than a whole lotta of noting, but good grief.

God is good all the time

Wowzer. 80 rounds of 9mm for $75. I guess I am way out of that game. Thankful to have bought a lot prior to my ordeal at sea. Glad you've got something.

What I would like to know is why isn't Bob's Red Mill making Creamy Wheat in the small Packages? Only 25lbs available. Finally bought 2 # 10 cans of Augasons Farm on Amazon for 11 something a can.

Went to Hanna fords today (Vt.) . Same place as usual. Weird again. Guess that's standard.

I'm still not used to or aware of the every changing social etiquette of mask wearing. I had two women step out of the way of me, backs to the merchandise in the corner store yesterday. Not sure when I'm supposed to do that. Guess they figured as an old White man I'm more contagious or racist.

Ok, groceries.
Two things of bigger note to me.
First, applesauce. I've been eating the single serve cups most of this year. Doc recommended applesauce for my gastro issues. So I usually buy 3 or 4 six-packs when I do. They've had multiple national brands as well as store brand, in multiple flavors and styles. Plain, cinnamon, unsweetened, strawberry, fruit punch, other flavors I can't recall.
Today there was only strawberry applesauce in national brands and just a couple dozen packs.
The store brand had a few dozen strawberry. Several plain and cinnamon both.
That's it, usually, all Summer, it was packed. Different sizes, containers, brands, flavors. It was like 10% of what it was earlier.

Next. Paper towels. Absolutely none of the Hanna ford brand premium towels. 2 packs of Bounty. 1 pack of Scotts. Quite a few packs of Spanish brand and labled paper towels. Also some spanish brand and style half paper towel rolls, and by half I mean short, like 7 inches. Looks more old school toilet paper size. There were also some cardboard box 6 packs of some brand I hadn't heard of but it was like $13 for something I couldn't see. And I didn't really need any. I thought we had the paper towel thing licked this Summer.

Deli meat was mostly socked, they got the national and international hams and bologna back in stock. Not a lot of choice or amount of pre packed national brand deli meat.

Decided I'd be helpful and wheel my cart back in the store rather than use the cart corral. Even picked up a second along the way. Holy crap the woman in the vestibule comes charging at me. "I'll take that." Like I did something wrong. "These need to be wiped down."

Oh yeah, rice. Seriously depleted in that section. I got my favorite store brand jasmine which is great quality and picked up a 3# Goya jasmine rice. Goya was 10 cents more per pound.
So not a lot of choices if your wanted a 1-3 pounds of standard rice you have to cook.
Very much cleaned out of most boxed instant, flavored, soft pack microwavable, etc.

Got everything I needed though. And some raspberries.

Went to Costco this week . (Big Island Hawaii) A month ago you could buy seltzer 32 cans for $10.
Now only one high end brand 24 cans for $15.
Disposable masks a month ago $9.99 now $14.99 for a 50 pack.
No canned mushrooms for months now. Lots of things missing from the shelves. Baked goods are one fourth what they used to be a few months ago.

I haven't been able to get Rock Salt to make ice cream. I checked last May. DH checked again today, store manager doesn't know when he will get any. I was so looking forward to getting these cherries out of my freezer. 2020- the year that just keeps giving. No Chocolate Cherry ice cream for me. Sigh.

It sounds like I'm being a little princess, but there are several more things I use rock salt for that are not so frivolous.
Have you tried a feed store? Not Tractor Supply, but an actual feed store.

I finally found dried apricots at Safeway today. Everything I looked at seemed well stocked but I didn't look at any prices.

I also went to Dollar tree. Since my cataract surgeries, my distance vision is outstanding, but the doc had told me I'd still need reading glasses since I didn't want to pay the $2,000 for upgraded cataract replacement lenses. Dollar Tree had lots in every strength, so I go a few to figure out which one I'd need. Very happy me to get readers for $1!! Now I can see the computer. WooHoo!
Try Amazon also. Not $1, but I get a 5 pack for $15 and they look pretty good!

I cannot be specific as most of what is missing I do not buy but noticing empty Fridge/Freezers at the local Wally World. Empty and sparse she;ves. Plenty of Sugar but Corn Meal and Flours is showing signs of getting shifted to hide other things and to hide the Less amounts of them.

Mixedd on the Canned goods-lots of soups and veggies but limited on choices-where there might have been 30 types of soup there are ten, stocked to fill the shelves. Same with veggies in cans.

One thing I noticed missing and less of-things like Pepperoni logs and such. Lotss of Summer Sausage but the hard meats are gone.

It is possible that your WM is one of the ones they are planning on closing. Mike Kalemecco on The Bite PBS discussed how WM has surpassed Amazon in online grocery sales for the first time and talked about the new upcoming Walmart+ system they are implementing and he says it'll revolutionize grocery shopping. I don't disagree with him, however I think in order for it to work they really will have to close a bunch of stores.

That thought crossed my mind, too. The two Wally Worlds I've been in this week were stocked to the gills. They won't be closed.

The one on the south side of town is stocked to the gills, the one on the north side not so much... and it opened less than two years ago. I think the one on the south side has more business, and it has a better layout and lighting, due to being next door to Petco, Target, and Aldi. Plus all of the places to eat are along that strip as well. It wouldn't surprise me if they close the north store within the next two years.

Unless they put in more condos out that way, in which case the area could easily support that WW.

True, I'm surprised that Target hasn't put a store at the north end of town since there are so many yuppie types living there now. We drove through that area on our way to Cherokee, IA and I was shocked at how rapidly that part of town had grown... there are thousands of townhomes out that way now.

Possible but I've nevr seen it on any of the Lists and it is a strong central location serving a lot of the area from that store-every small town and some of the larger areas use it.

Plus, while not the Lynchpin of the area the surroundings are growing with more stores/restraunts and such-be stupid to close it down at this point.

went to Sams couple hours ago, Omaha Ne,

lots of rice, many different brands, but not my usual 50 pound cheap one, 1 1/2 pallets of toilet paper, right in front of the door, was hand sanatizer, must have been 6 pallets of different brands, then several pallets of different masks,

didnt see any holes in food stuff. lots of meat, pallets of different brands of flour, yeast stacked up. didnt see any holes in spices,

sat down for a bit and watched, didnt see what I would call, preppers carts, everyone had a good variaty, most looked like what youd buy for a couple of weeks,

I made our shopping run on Tuesday. We went to Sam's, Walgreens, Tractor Supply, and Food Giant. We're still not seeing any shortages here in NE MS. No limits on anything, either. Still no Lysol spray, but found lots of a knock off brand of Clorox wipes at Walgreens. Lots of Spam, but not in the flavor I want.

They might not be making it right now. Some of the companies have cut back on their products that aren't as popular. You might check their website and send an email to their customer service about that. If they are making it, speak with your store managers about getting some in. I had to do that with the oatmeal that I like.

Walmart+ offers fresh and frozen local delivery in addition to non-perishable items and almost anything else the local Walmart carries, so in order for it to take off and compete with Amazon that offers fresh/frozen delivery IF there is a Whole Foods store in a person's area, they'd be stupid to close stores. I don't think they're going to close stores.

Our local H-E-B stores offers fresh/frozen items with their local delivery, as do the Kroger stores here in town (College Station TX). The local grocery stores all DO have an up-charge on each item (whatever the item is) and Walmart+ does not; you will pay the same price for it to be delivered as you would if you walked in and bought it yourself. The advantage for price goes to Walmart in areas where they're already competing with Amazon/Whole Foods, and local grocery stores where there is an up-charge and the selection of items other than grocery is limited (H-E-B, Kroger, etc.)

If one orders grocery items through Walmart.com, the orders are fulfilled at their distribution centers across the country, not at the actual local store. Walmart+ orders will be fulfilled at the Walmart nearest to your location, based on zip code.

I also had cataract surgery and decided not to pay the extra money for upgrade. I have already broken three pair of the cheap dollar tree/dollar general China glasses. I finally filled my prescription for new glasses, which are progressives. I can now see and read, even though I am back to wearing glasses. So much easier not to have to search where I left the reading glasses.
And thanks for the reminder..I should buy dried apricots for my son for Christmas.

No, because I have about a dozen CSAs (community-supported agriculture) in my area, plus a lot of the local farms do sell directly to Fareway or HyVee. I checked into that before I moved here. There is a lot sold to China and Canada, but there is a also a strong Iowa market.
Remember that what is plentiful during the growing season locally - is not around Nov - April.

The reason that there aren't any canned mushrooms at the Costco on the Big Island is because they're all over at the Issaquah, Wa. Costco which is across the street from the corporate headquaters.

We have a lot of items that you would normally see at the Big Island and Lihue' Costco's that cater to the Asian pop, which is weird, so I have to wonder if the shipment orders got mixed up! Lol! V

Canned salmon has gone up to 4.95 a can. I heard something happening to the oregon salmon run.

Hatcheries burnt up in the fires out west. As someone said in that thread here on TB it shouldn't affect canned or fresh salmon overall but the useless eaters do not understand this and will buy up everything they can leaving a shortage. My plan was to pick up a six pack of the canned salmon filets at Sam's this weekend and that should give me a one year supply with what I already have on hand of the filets, so one can of the salmon filets per month. I have several cans of the salmon with the bones and some skin in them though I've started buying, recently, the pink salmon that has very little skin or bones in it and yeah it's expensive. I love salmon patties and the salmon filets on a chefs salad is also quite tasty.

Was quite shocked to FINALLY find rubbing alcohol today at an Ohio Kroger. It's been missing for about 3 months. 70% only, and the bottles were half the size as before but cost twice as much :( There were about a half dozen on the shelf and I got 2.

Canned pumpkin is something else I'm always looking for, we go through a can a week to keep our old dog's guts happy. It's been either sparse or missing. Today there were about 5 cans so I got a couple .

We just ran in for a couple things, but compared to my aldi trip last week, Kroger prices were outrageous. I'll be sticking to aldi and walmart . Got to stretch every penny and it gets more challenging every week.
