So going back to the cavitation damage video, didn’t they say the flow was stopped fairly quickly to investigate.

I don’t think China had the ability to shutdown the flood doors because of the risk of overtopping the top of the dam.

They could be eating the dam from the inside everytime they open the floodgates but just don’t know it.

And more rain is coming...

If you mean the Glen Canyon, I believe you're correct, they shut it down. Also correct that China can't.
I don't know anything about the internal structure of 3G, or whether one pipe disintegrating is likely to take out the next. If that's how it will work, then we should expect increasingly bad symptoms over the near term. I suspect China has a pretty good idea what's happening.

OK, things are getting more interesting in the dam cam. I've been watching it (yes, I need a life) and have noted the following times when interesting things happened. It ends at 11.36.19. Events which are either events or video artifacts which get more numerous as time goes by and a few are pretty large. Then it ends. Anyone want to take a look?

i knew it was a large amount but i didnt know it was that high.

might be smart to get your OTC stock ups and any prescription meds top offs that you can, or research natural -herbal alternatives in case the time comes we cnqa no longer buy or afford the scripts.
this is a big deal.

Here in the USA last year, farmers completely lost huge chunks of acreage to flooding as rivers changed course, other areas had 3'-8' of sand and silt deposited on top of the topsoil. Combined with the pollution and 'trash' I'd think it would take years for China's farmland to get back to normal - if that is even possible considering the magnitude of the flooding. IMO they are only beginning to sample the misery this flooding will create, even IF the 3GD holds. The long term effects will take millions of lives in China.

The building in the left foreground has a flat area for vehicles, with doors opening onto it. The little dots next to the building are probably vehicles. That should give some scale to the objects being spit out of the dam.

Anything that damages or distracts our most important external enemy is a good thing, ad long as it doesn't result in them nuking us or the like.

There are some orange objects to the right of the chunks in post 1181. It still looks like it is blowing big chunks of something very heavy. I would say pieces of the dam do to cavitation.

I will go out on a limb here and postulate that most of the land under this potential rain is Already saturated. If they get another whack it all ends up in a short period in the Yangtze upstream of 3GD.

If that much rain falls in 24 hour period the water would hit the dam not over a week but in a possible 24-36 hour window.

The CCP has already made a decision to flood Chengdu to save Wuhan, this could create the 3 hit flood #3 that swamps (again) Chengdu, then Wuhan then Shanghai, with massive stress on 3GD that is possibly damaged from flood #2.

China better hope this forecast is wrong.

Could be about anything I am sure lots of orange plastic used in road construction like here, but just to go all doomer here I saw a picture of the large water turbines that are used in the power generation part of the dam and the turbine blades were I believe orange.

Could the combination of flow velocity and debris be tearing the generating turbines apart? I wonder if they have the power generating numbers posted to see of there is a drop off in M wattage generated.

The powerhouse is the near structure with the big doors and probable vehicles parked at the walls. The area with the apparent debris is purely spillway, no turbines in that area.

ETA: There are two powerhouses, one on each side. Look at the far one, and you can see two rolling cranes. Those things are maybe a couple hundred feet tall. Take that as an indicator of the debris size.

OK--I just got on--so someone else may have already reported this--


BUT SOMETHING IS MAJORLY WRONG WITH 3GD RIGHT NOW.


It appears only TWO--maybe three---- of the floodgates are working--

and for the one on the right (as you face it---it would be the gate near the TOP of the picture above---the one that ALL of the pictures have shown pieces flying out of---

the flow is now shooting up HIGH into the air---from UNDER --- repeat UNDER -- the water---IN FRONT OF and AWAY from the DAM!


In other words---it's like it's shooting up from BENEATH the dam, INSTEAD OF OUT OF THE FLOODGATE!

And you can't see anything flowing out from most of the OTHER gates at ALL---just two other gates.
