You might have immunity to the virus you had, but not to whatever the virus has mutated into. My best guess so far, anyway.

Has anyone seen anything CONCRETE as to whether surviving this produces immunity?
With respect, having been following closely, I haven't seen much of anything I would consider concrete about any of it. That said, being a coronavirus, I will be operating under the assumption of it does not give immunity. If not immediately then eventually

[Negative test does not quarantee 100% disease free. Infection might be new in person's body and is not picked up by test yet.]

I am beyond shocked that they admitted this! Each announcement of tests being negative actually makes me more nervous, since it’s been proven that people will the virus sometimes test negative. It probably makes them more likely to resume their normal activities.

Carnival cruise ship had infected passenger now. On iPad so can’t post whole article.

The Ship Has Literally Sailed: Carnival Admits To Coronavirus Case 6 Days After Cruise
Thanks for a bit of truth in all the phog, Doc Blizzard.

Me and my husband went on a cruise with my son and daughter in law on the Carnival Liberty on January 20 and after a few hours being on it, I got the worst diahrrea of my life. I thought I had brought imodium with me, but couldn't find it anywhere. By day 2 my husband took me to their clinic below deck. I had a fever and high blood pressure. He gave me loperamide and to take 2 then one after each movement. I said, well do I have a virus? He said well it's something like the Noroviris. He put me on 24 hour quarantine and the brat diet. I didn't enjoy enjoy much until the latter part of day 3 and 4. I don't think my son thought I was that sick, especially given that he paid for our trip. I couldn't help it, and he knows I have lupus, and sjogrens.
It's a strange feeling now hearing about this other
Carnival ship with the positive Corona virus that had been on it. I have had no other symptoms but trying to get straightened out my gastro system.

Concerning Islamic countries not reporting cases so far-I think that likely has more to do with typical Chinese travel patterns than anything. Most countries with cases outside China have been a) geographically close b) popular tourist destinations or c) ties to financial/manufacturing/business. Once (if) the secondary H2H transmission takes off in Europe but in particular the Islamic African countries-I would anticipate cases in ME countries rising. Much like many posters kept asking if it had infected non Asians yet-simply a matter of time to transmit vs some sort of woo. Imho
Africa could explode in cases imported by Chinese nationals returning after the Lunar New Year to their extensive business investments throughout the continent.

Friend working gold claim, about 10 yrs ago, in Liberia in West Africa, said that when business took him to the capitol city of Monrovia he'd always hear more Chinese spoken on the streets than any other, including the native tongues.

BTW, too, China has more embassies and consulates all around the world than the USA has.

Video:

I was wondering about this. In the brave new world, everyone videos and post everything.
And yet, I have yet to see a first hand "I got the Kung Flu, gonna die, so I am gonna post every hour until the end".
They must be quarantining patient's internet and cell service as well.

As patient that was released redeveloped the WuFlu. Happened during the Spanish flu....

Lies and more lies from China about the pandemic....

Feces have the virus.... Are the medicals testing the feces before releasing patients????

There is so much not known about this virus that quarantine will not stop it until more is known....

What truly scared me, of all the reports out of China was the video of people in the final stages just written off and zipped into body bags!! It was video of body bags with people still moving in the bags on their way to be cremated. I guess The medical services just seemed to be so totally overwhelmed trying to treat so many sick, and apparently "Triaged" the most serious cases to be disposed of with an "they are gonna die anyway" let's move on to someone we can actually help. The situation could get that gravely serious, even here!

If the epidemic situation even here in USA gets that out of control, I think it is best NOT to go to the hospitals thinking you will get medical help, and instead either live or die at home.

Ainitfunny, that's incredible! I have seen some troubling vids, but haven't seen that yet!

Where are those videos? They should be saved for evidence.

I just had a conversation with a good friend of mine who is aware of the virus situation. Yet when o tried to talk to her about preps, even from an economical/price perspective, she thought I was off my rocker. She came just short of suggesting therapy to get past my “fear” and “paranoia.”

Her words were literally, “But that’s in China. Not here. They have deplorable conditions there, and there’s no way something to that degree would ever happen here.”

That kind of head-in-the sand mentality is going to be the downfall of our country in any pandemic, whether this one or the next.

I’m grateful to have you all as my tribe, and for the wisdom and discernment I have from the Holy Spirit.

Regarding her analysis of the problem being in China, I suppose we'll find out soon enough. There are different strategies in dealing with uncertainty, and her approach is used by many, usually successfully. Maybe she's right, too. Hopefully, our medical system will get a handle on this and it'll be stopped cold in it's tracks.

We'll find out in the next few weeks.

A little bit of good news about coronavirus: The number of new cases outside mainland China is currently declining:

Jan. 31: 28 new cases
Feb. 1: 14 new cases
Feb. 2: 11 new cases
Feb. 3: 6 new cases

Once the medical establishment gets the memo on how to report these things, it will all look better and better. Ok, maybe I'm getting cynical.

Just finger thinking here:

Curious as to whether or not the early flu season cases worldwide, that were actually counted as flu, were in fact this Coronavirus. Nothing was really known about, or attention paid to the spread of this virus until China began panic locking everything down in Wuhan.

We really don’t know what’s to come of this, none of us do. All we can do is prep and pray.

I posted a video a page or so back about the cops going to people's houses telling them not to post on social media about the Coronavirus. Go look at it.

If useless, why do doctors and nurses wear them? Why can you be arrested for NOT wearing one in China? Why have they always been effective up until this outbreak?

IMO typical surgical masks are designed to protect the patient from the spittle of the wearer, when the caregiver is talking with the patient. They have no value in protecting the caregiver from the microbes wafting off of the patient. So "useless" depends on which side of the equation you're looking at. Surgical masks are GREAT, they just aren't there to protect the wearer.

So now we see all these people wearing them, thinking that's a good thing because that's what doctors do. PERHAPS they are wearing a mask that acts to filter incoming stuff in the air. Depends on the mask. But wearing a mask - monkey see; monkey do - is useless if you aren't wearing the one that applies to the risk you are trying to mitigate. My 2p.

China wants people to wear them because China wants people to stop broadcasting germs. China's goal here has nothing to do with protecting the wearer.

Depends. Mostly it depends upon the state of the healthcare system when you go, the number of effected patients, etc.

Generally, You will feel like you have the flu. Body aches, cough, fever. This will go on for a few days. Early on, most will go to an ER, clinic, urgent care for influenza testing to rule it out. Negative influenza testing will probably result in you being given written instructions to check your temp, self quarantine at home, and CALL if you are worse.

Hospitals, and ICUs in particular, will fill up quickly with the serious/critical patients. I believe that you will see healthare delivery taken over by CDC and state agencies if it gets to this point. IF pharmaceuticals and supplies last (probably 2-3 months worth in the pipeline, at best) they will keep this model. After supplies run out or the patient load becomes overwhelming you then have to start making harder decisions.

What does that look like? Likely Homeland and the Military will have a number of quarantine centers that are set up for seriously ill (but not requiring vents or ICU level care). These may be in structures, tents, etc. near the medical centers. This will offload as much patient volume as possible. Those who continue to worsen will probably be looking at palliative care. The military will handle corpse disposal most likely.

I'm assuming that is what you mean by hitting with a vengeance. Ultimately, I believe the healthcare system will use every possible opportunity to help as many people for as long as possible. After that, there isn't much anyone can do.

I see more and more videos of people refusing to be quarantined due to #coronavirus. They’re definitely terrified of something, other than virus itself.

Being thrown into a hole with a mass of strangers, unknown infections, no personal safety, at the mercy of the biggest dog in the pen. Yeah, even without the novel virus that would be a sub-optimal way to configure my future.

    • BEIJING — The Apple stores were among the busiest places still open in Beijing after the coronavirus outbreak, though employees forbade customers to try the watches or AirPods.
Some people ventured in out of necessity, as ever. “My laptop is broken,” one woman said. For others they provided a rare communal gathering space, a break from the isolation, anxiety and fear that have settled on the city of 23 million ever since the epidemic began to emanate from central China.
Now the stores have closed, along with theaters, museums, cinemas, temples, barbers, hair salons, karaoke bars, and most other shops and restaurants. The Forbidden City has shut down “until further notice,” as has a popular section of the Great Wall in the breezy, wintry hills to the northeast, far from urban congestion.

Beijing is not under a strict, government-ordered lockdown, like that in Wuhan and other cities at the center of the epidemic. It has, however, imposed restrictions on practically every aspect of life since declaring “the highest level of public health emergency” on Jan. 24.

Fliers from the Beijing government have been posted on shop windows and apartment buildings, urging everyone to take necessary precautions. Residents were encouraged to avoid “crowded places or public gatherings” — though most of those, including festivals celebrating the lunar new year, were canceled anyway.

Many stores and shopping centers have set up temperature checks for anyone entering. Some, including the Yves Saint Laurent in the upscale Sanlitun shopping district, have posted signs refusing entry to anyone not wearing a mask.

Suspicion has become its own contagion. “Stay there,” warned one man playing badminton with his daughter in Chaoyang Park, both wearing masks. “Don’t get close to us.”

These are the 2 guys who had the video about the Chinese wet markets. The main speaker was a trainer in English, medical terminology and medical etiquette in China. I believe his wife is a physician. He has several doctor friends in China and is presenting his "insider" backgrounder and current information. (After watching it a while, I think it has been previously posted)

Are you sure about that?
"Latest data on the #coronavirus outbreak in #China, as of Feb. 3: - 20,438 confirmed cases on Chinese mainland, another 15 in HK, 8 in Macao and 10 in Taiwan - 425 deaths - 632 discharged from hospital - 23,214 suspected cases "

Looks like the Discharge/Death ratio shows some improvement, for the moment anyway...
