LOL Back in the day that is what I paid for my 1st. Never thought I would see that again.
Yep, mine was $389.00.....I bought it at a mall store and remember carrying it out and people looking at me kind of weird.I bought my Colt AR-15 SP1 back in '81 for $400.
That's a common thing we in the gun biz do to sell stuff without permanently devaluing it, call it a blem, sell it cheap then the customer gets a great deal for a perfect part and stays happy.I've bought several "blem" parts from PSA, and damn if I can find any blemishes when I receive them. PSA is an excellent company to do business with.
Instead of one of your other ones?I am quite sure if I got one my wife would use it on me!
As functional as the M4 forgery carbines are I get all nostalgic over an old school M16A1 pattern rifle.IIRC my first SP-1 was $379 or so. Cost the gun shop more to stock another one than I paid retail for that one. Dealer was pissed ...

It depends on what mechanically superior means to who. Regarding accuracy, there is no comparison, the AR can be amazing. If you abuse your rifle, let it get full of crud and don't clean it all the while shooting crap ammo, the AK is your choice. Is it fair to say that the AR is mechanically superior to the Kalashnikov series?
It's interesting that AK is so much more expensive these days. I suppose this is because of modern materials and manufacturing techniques.
Hey that's pretty good!Feelin' good, hit a coke can at 200yards today with my AR-15 with iron sights.
Remember it well. Actually Colt green labels hit almost 3K right after the crap went into effect. What really makes me sick is when the thing sunsetted. I was 5 minutes late calling on the Rogak imported 50:64 that went for $2150.I remember back when the AWB was passed. ARs were going for roughly $450. I was within about $75 of being able to afford one. The day after the ban was passed, ARs were $800. The next day they were $1200. The next day they were all gone.
That’s how fast it can happen.
No cheap Chinese models flooding the market and driving down prices. Norinco did us all favors in that regard back in the day.Is it fair to say that the AR is mechanically superior to the Kalashnikov series?

I'm 61, have glaucoma and wear glasses. I kept missing the can by less than 1/2 or less. I switched to my left eye and got it.Hey that's pretty good!
This. You can plan to, want to, hope to, etc., but if you don't HAVE when TSHTF, you're in deep kimchi. One can always change the “pieces” out later. First, have the gun.
Yunno. I think I give Owner a lot to do in his day. It must be a task for him to "monitor" a full time Internet history.Owner just talked to me.
He says he's been watching where I have been going online (he can do this - part of our "agreement") and he says he might pull a trigger on the AR15 PSA deals above.
Through PSA he's found an FFA "outlet" in the next town who will be "destination" for shipping. He says the guy is a single man shop, he's a retired disabled vet, and he meets all the requirement of the authorities. AND - Owner says he gets $25 for doing the paperwork, and keeping the form after the background check.
He uses the FBI for background - but has assured Owner that the FBI processes this only as a "check" - and no permanent records are kept - and in fact can't be kept by law.
Well, that's what he says.
He also has told Owner to get the "Heavyweight" barrel or the SoCom barrel. The lighter barrels don't stay straight and your grouping increases from 2" to over 4" once the lighter barrels "warp."
If someone wants to give me (well, him because he reads here) any thoughts on this?
My only comment might be - save money for ammunition.
