Yep, but I have always known that wood chip only offers carbohydrates with very little in the way of minerals. Back To Eden gardening is very poorly written. Only a tiny mention of chickens in the system. Also with raw wood chips the worms move out of the soil under wherever you add the chips.

I am just setting up some raised beds with wood chip as a base but I will hit it with blood and bone then have a good layer of soil on top. Plus the chip is well aged.
