WTF?!? Women in Charge

I remember being told flat out I wouldn't be promoted into management because I would marry, have a kid and quit.
Just a little side note: I did quit the company after taking full advantage of their benefit packages and having them subsidize a good part of my college education. Only it wasn't to get married and have a kid. It was to finish up my last semester of college going full time. After graduation I got a job elsewhere making a lot more money.

My bride likes to demolish the ticks but I get all the mice.

Nope. Hell to the nope. For whatever reason, tick & scorpions turn me into a girl REAL quick. I'll deal with them if I have to, but only if there's literally nobody else around. Encounters with either one make me go :hof: Don't ask me why cuz I couldn't tell you lol.

My mother tells me stories of being on the road and a cop stopping her asking her why she was alone and without her husband.

Another gave her a ticket for something (she said deserved at the time) and the cop insisted that she couldn't actually own a car herself and that the registration was fake since it didn't have her husband's name on it.

Things like that....

The biggest was when they moved to Georgia 40 years ago and the bank took her money as a deposit to open an account and put the account in my Dad's name instead of her name. That one almost was a lawsuit.... small town stuff

Probably true in most cases but the feminazis started someplace.

The problem is that broadstroaking this issue reveals the incompetence on both sides without realling addressing it constructively. Not you in particular, just meant generally.

There have been competent leaders of both genders through out world history, most of them unsung and therefore unavailable as an example. The idiot brigades of both genders are much easier to spot and make comment on.

And if someone is a Christian then they understand the full commandments for women, with Lydia as a prime example of a woman with a business that supports her family. Unfortunately like everything else, people only hear what they want to.

The proverbs woman had a rich husband, which allowed her to buy things for her family. (land)

But it also shows that women can do things for the family, but from the home taking care of it.

The men have always been the providers and the women the home makers, in a Godly society.

scorpions are a thing i have never had to deal with....ok i won't say never, but not as a normal thing. i member here tells me they have scorpion season (!) and have the exterminator out their house every year to spray for them. they told me about how they have to put brib and bed legs into some sort of glass jar so the scorpions cannot climb up the legs and get into bed with them.

yah, that would be a little unsettling i think, but probably just because i am not used to it. i have healthy respect for them as some can kill you and other hurt. same thing with the poisonous snakes. no freaking out, but you stay there and i will stay here and we are all happy. if you are in my house, well, then fire cleanses all.

as i have said before (it was in regards to zombies, but the concept is still the same) i am the one you want with you. i may be peeing my pants, but every last one will be gone. hahaha

I was raised around all that feminist BS in the 70’s! But I was also raised by strong Southern women! Men respected because we respected them! My house was not a June Cleaver household! My mom worked 12 hour days and came home to my dad and 3 young kids! If you weren't raised by a strong Southern woman you missed out! She was strong but tender, mean as a hornet, but sweet to everyone she knew. Just don't mess with her husband, $$$ or her CHILDREN! She would take you down to your knees in a heartbeat! I'm proud of the strong women in my family! They made me the woman I am today!

Well... sort of. "The Wife of Noble Character" may be a homemaker but also reads more like a home based entrepreneur, staff manager, merchant and capitalist.

Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character
10 [a]A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.

15 She gets up while it is still night;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.

25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

I've never had to go so far as putting the bed legs in a jar or some such, but I always made sure my blankets weren't touching the floor. They can, however, climb the walls and will drop on you from the ceiling.

And, from what I understand, the ones we have around here don't hurt that bad when they sting you. It's not that I'm afraid of the pain (although I'd rather not have it), the little buggers just CREEP ME OUT.

oh yah!

they also said that at night, you can go outside and shine a black light (i think that was it) and you will see millions of little eyeball reflections shining back at you.

that is a little unsettling hahaha

sorta like an invading army waiting for the order lol

Yep. Some spiders have eye-shine, as well. Actually kinda cool.

Wasn't me :lol: I got off work after a wretched 17 hour shift yesterday and stopped at the first restaurant along the road to get something to go; guy behind me walking in said "Let me get the doors for you.." and I darn near cried. Told him 'Thank you; you just made my day a whole lot better - I'm sure glad there was a gentleman around when I needed one."
You probably made HIS day!

They have waaaay too many legs. I have no qualms about killing assorted creepy crawlies. Snakes? GAAAAH!. I remember the nite I was in the coop, saw a snake, I saw bright colors, slowly moving, I don't think I screamed. Left it and closed up the coop. I assumed the chickens had taken care of it. I've seen what happens to a big tomato hornworm. They play catch football with it until it's a shadow of it's former self until someone horks down the skin sac. Yeeesh!

North to the Future
I grew up Little Suzie Homemaker. If you ever heard that term, it was I ;) Smartest girl in every school I attended but very quiet and all I wanted was to be a godly wife and mom. Yet - husband died early on, I had 2 young boys to raise and had absolutely no intention of asking Uncle Sam for help. I worked, learned how to stand on my own...including spiders, toilet overflows, and a multitude of car or computer issues. But I never was a Helen Reddy.

I'm sorry for the loss that we women ourselves (not me personally...) caused so that men no longer want to follow their natural inclination to assist a damsel in distress. I understand MGTOW. And I truly cannot blame them - what thinking person will persist in acts of kindness that are thrown in their face (after first being spat upon - in some cases literally). The rest of us, some of whom would really like a masculine shoulder on which to lean once in a while, are now the poorer for the behavior and screeds of the harridans.

Yes, of course, equal pay for equal work. That's been a fact for at least a generation now - but looking at stats, not emotions, we can see men do the work and put in the hours women rarely will (even if able). I said rarely, I know it's not an absolute. Now we've got soy-boys, feminized males, and shrinking families. Not at all in God's plan for men OR women. I am blessed that between my two sons I have the replacement factor of 4 gkids, all being raised as Christians. But I shudder to think what will be for them - even so come Lord Jesus. Hmmm, that might be closer than I thought.....

Ran in to my share of male superiority in our business. I loved the look on the face of salesmen who came in my business and assumed I was the warehouse worker when they realized I was the owner. I never gave any business to anyone that treated me like that. If they walked in the door and acted decent not knowing I was the owner they had first crack. Some satisfaction in that for all the crap I ran into when younger.

My older sister graduated from Carnegie-Mellon with an EE degree. She worked corporate in the U.S. Steel building with our namesake restaurant on top. They fired her when she got pregnant. She hadn't planned on leaving. Her best friend from high school was told flat out that she'd never get into a certain university's Ph.D. math program and they'd never award a woman a Ph.D. in math. They graduated high school in 1973. It's shocking how badly the feminist movement got derailed. One of the reasons my father said he fell in love with my mom was because her thought, "there's a woman who can do anything she puts her mind to."

My wife graduated high school back in 1966 and went to work at the post office the same year. It was a man's world back then and she was the only woman working there. She put up with a lot of sexual innuendoes and harassments. Even though she was young, she was tough and dished it back to them and didn't let the old men intimidate her. A few years later, she joined the federal security force and again, was the only woman in the entire force. Intimidation and harassments followed her again. She put most of them to shame when she qualified as the third best shot in the entire United States. Slowly, they started to respect her. She has never been a feminist but believes in equal rights for all women regardless of sex or color. She has absolutely no respect for most of the women today, especially those in government or the ones on shows like the view and the talk.

everyone with any semblance of common sense realizes that equal work for equal pay (assuming that all things TRULY are equal) equal opportunity is necessary, moral and righteous. those are basic principles anyone should be able to agree on.
Not so. Family Wage jobs, largely reserved for married men (especially with, or clearly about to start siring children), combined with discouraging middle- and upper-class women from working once married, both went a long way towards strengthening marriage and improving the TFR (total fertility rate). Men's marriageability/place in marriage was enhanced, as was women getting more motivation to marry. As survival is the first priority for any civilization, and one that demographically the West is utterly failing at, clearly that was a useful prop that our prospects have suffered for losing. Chesteron's fence, and all that.

My beloved Momma Southern bred was the perfect example of a woman, God rest her soul. Strong, loving and a she devil if you needed it. God I miss her
Her and Daddy taught me how to be completely Independent. But and that's a big but to know my place. There's very little I can't do on my own. But my 1st and foremost priority is my Family and my home. I was a homemaker, a teacher and then a civil servant. Yet I am a and grew up Farming. I can repair my own vehicle, some of my own tractor and most of my appliances. I do the livestock work. Milk , keep garden and my yard. My Dh is a hard worker and I try to do these things to be his HELPER. I also keep my house and am a dang good cook. Although no one can hold a candle to my Momma. I try everyday to live out her example
But I ain't no feminists.

Found on the interwebs:

Quote from Queen Victoria, 1870:

“I am most anxious to enlist everyone who can speak or write to join in checking this mad, wicked folly of ‘Women’s Rights,’ with all its attendant horrors, on which her poor feeble sex is bent, forgetting every sense of womanly feelings and propriety. Feminists ought to get a good whipping. Were woman to ‘unsex’ themselves by claiming equality with men, they would become the most hateful, heathen and disgusting of beings and would surely perish without male protection.”

Now read this: The Liberal Wall of Hate ('toxic masculinity', 'rape culture', 'white privilege', etc.) - scroll down to "Men/Feminism" heading.

Yes, we know. Feminism, like communism and fascism, is defined by what it isn't, rather than what it is: 'NOT ALL FEMINISTS ARE LIKE THAT!'

Here's a quote from Booker T. Washington from 1911 (just as applicable to gender as it is to ethnicity):

"I am afraid that there is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don't want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public."

So just to ensure I understand what you're saying, raven - declare victory all you want, gals, as long as the pants get unzipped? :D I can agree with that one! Me: you win, honey, no contest. LOL

On another note, the January timing almost reminds me of the gyms and how they're packed this time of year until the NY resolutions get worn down. I happened to drive by one last night and it was, of course, packed.

On TB every waking moment
I waited until my kids were grown before I ran for public office. I remember a friend who was a logger who told me that a woman could never be elected. I went on to be elected out of a field of four and then was re-elected two more times, unopposed, until I retired.

My biggest rush was chairing a huge contentious public meeting in a large auditorium. Otherwise, I was a scrapper activist in my (self-educated) specialty of natural resources and loved to put agencies on the hot seat.

I have known some great leaders who were women.

You forgot two other things:

1) No Muslims, admitted socialists, retards, current welfare recipients, non-DoD Fedgov employees, or known homosexuals should be able to vote.

2) People should have to show a Selective Service registration card before they can vote.

Wow, you must be fun at parties. If someone doesn't fit in your definition then they don't get a vote? IMO you have a very narrow view of freedom.

Women and children in the FF's day were represented by the husband/father, who cast a vote on behalf of the entire household. Vagrants and wastrels, not really being an integral part of the society, nor having its interests at heart, did not vote. Your question is no more supportable than believing laws should not be applied to you unless you held a seat in the legislature at the time each of the laws was passed and you got to vote on it. Remember, too, voting is supposed to be a duty and a responsibility, NOT a route to cadging more unearned goodies from your neighbor's pocket via gov't guns.

Sex Differences, Again
JAMES THOMPSON • JANUARY 12, 2021

"You know the story, but here we go again. The standard account of sex differences in intelligence is that there aren’t any. Or not significant ones, or perhaps some slight ones, but they counter-balance each other. The standard account usually goes on to concede that males are more variable than females, that is to say, they are more widely dispersed around the mean. Although this is an oft-repeated finding, in some circles it is still referred to a merely a hypothesis. There is a standardization sample in Romania which did not show this difference, and others epidemiological samples where the differences are slight, but usual finding is that men show a wider standard deviation of ability.

Against this orthodoxy, Irwing and Lynn (2006) have argued that boys and girls mature at different speeds, with girls ahead till about age 16 and with boys moving ahead thereafter, such that men are 2-4 IQ points ahead of women throughout adult life.

Men 4 points ahead?

Lynn further argues that if men are 4 points ahead, and have a standard deviation of 15 as opposed to women’s standard deviation of 14, those two findings almost fully explain the higher number of men in intellectually demanding occupations. There is no glass ceiling. Fewer women are capable of the higher levels required for the glittering prizes. Furthermore, this explains why men know more things. At the very highest levels of ability there are more men, and they have more knowledge, which is why they win general knowledge competitions.

Sex on the Brain

This, the seditious faction suggest, is just a fact of sexual dimorphism. Male brains are very, very much bigger than women’s, and each of the component regions of the male brain are bigger than the same regions in women, and also more variable in size.

Standardization samples ought to be good, and often are so, but they are not as good as birth cohorts or major epidemiological samples, so the latter are to be favored when looking for reliable sex differences.

However, here is another paper on standardization samples confirming the same pattern of male advantage, though not greater male variability in one of the samples.

Sex Differences on the WAIS-III in Taiwan and the United States
Hsin-Yi Chen and Richard Lynn. Pages 324-328.

MQ 61.2 COMPLETE.pdf

Sex differences are reported in the standardization samples of the WAIS-III in Taiwan and the United States. In Taiwan, men obtained a significantly higher Full Scale IQ than women of 4.35 IQ points and in the United States men obtained a significantly higher Full Scale IQ than women of 2.78 IQ points. The sex differences on the 14 subtests are generally similar with a correlation between the two of .65. In the Taiwan sample there were no consistent sex differences in variability.

Taiwan-sex-diffs-Wais-III.png

The authors say:

There are three points of interest in the results. First, in the Taiwan sample males obtained a higher Full Scale IQ of .29d, the equivalent of 4.35 IQ points. This confirms the thesis advanced by Lynn (1994, 1998, 1999) that in adults, males have a higher average IQ than females of around 4-5 IQ points. Males obtained a higher Full Scale IQ in the American standardization sample of the WAIS-III of .185d (2.78 IQ points). These two results disconfirm the assertions of Haier et al. (2004) and Halpern (2012) that “Comparisons of general intelligence assessed with standard measures like the WAIS show essentially no differences between men and women” (Halpern, 2012, p. 115).
Second, the sex differences in the Taiwan and American WAIS-III are generally similar. On the 14 subtests the correlation between the two is .65 (p <.001). Thus, in both samples men obtained their greatest advantage on Information and their lowest advantage on Digit Symbol – Coding.
Third, there was no consistent sex difference in variability. On the Taiwan Full Scale IQ the VR of 1.02 is negligible, and males had greater variability in 9 of the 14 subtests while females had greater variability in 5 of the subtests. These results do not confirm the greater variability of males reported in numerous previous studies e.g., Arden and Plomin (2006) and Dykiert, Gale and Deary (2009).
This study, on the gold standard Wechsler test, seems to confirm a male advantage in general intelligence. As discussed, standardization samples are designed to be an excellent representation of the population on which the test will be used (with changes to make it culturally accurate), and there is no reason to believe that this balanced selection would favor males. Birth samples would be even better, but this is a good test of the male advantage proposal.

The Information subtest is a measure of very general General Knowledge, not requiring any specialist interests, but asking about the things which would generally be known in the general population. A .44 sd advantage on this subtest is enormous. The greater male representation in high level general knowledge competitions seems well founded. On the US sample there is almost as big a male advantage for Maths, and a large deficit for the digit symbol coding task, which measures simple processing speed.

The lack of a greater standard deviation in the Taiwanese sample goes against the general finding, as did the standardization sample for Romania. Standardization samples are not as representative as larger epidemiological surveys, but it is interesting nonetheless, in that it suggests some sampling restriction."
