ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WTVO) — A woman killed a convicted sex offender by stabbing him to death during an attempted rape at a laundromat on Sunday, according to police.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to a Lacombe-area laundromat in the 28000 block of U.S. Highway 190 around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday and found Nicholas Tranchant, 40, mortally wounded at the scene.
He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said the investigation revealed that Trenchant, who is a convicted sex offender, entered the laundromat with a sharp weapon and attempted to assault the woman. She fought back, gaining possession of the weapon and stabbing him before running away, police said.

Police said the woman received injuries during the attempted assault and is being treated at a local hospital.
Authorities said Trenchant was convicted for Indecent Behavior with Juveniles in July 2003, and convicted again in May 2008 for Attempted Aggravated Rape and Aggravated Burglary.

“I want to compliment this brave woman on the courage and strength she showed in fighting back against her attacker and ask for prayers for her continued recovery,” Sheriff Randy Smith said.

Back before I moved to the woods, I would have gone to that laundrymat without hesitation. I Know exactly where it is, nice area or it was in 2010.

I do that already. Today’s automatic washing machines suck.

My Son does tub washing. The house he's in is an inheritance from my Uncle. He went to the laundry mat, but DS doesn't have a vehicle.

Not t sure why there's no washer and dryer in it and there's nobody left to ask.

When my Grandma was alive, she favored the old electric wringer washers.
