PREP With Current Events Maybe It's Time to Reivew Preps and Plans?

Just thinking that with what's happened in the last week, both natural and man made disasters and crisis, it may be a good time to bring up the need to review and refresh prep plans and supplies regularly in terms of changing circumstances, lessons learned and just rotating stock.

Agreed. My oldest son is heading to the slope for the week but we have plans to meet when he returns. We'll update plans, rotate stock, fill holes where we can - they're expecting so that's another (wonderful) one to think about! My youngest is now living in another state (to his mother's sorrow) but I was just there and we did the same. Very hard to have him so far away now - and both his job and hobby are not exactly safe - but I am learning to keep trusting God every day.
I have my ham license and radio, oldest son is planning to test soon. We are blessed to have a med person with us, and we are all working out regularly in order to be strong and healthy. Most important is listening to God's leading, and trusting so we can be obedient to Him.

used to think and prep like that - more active when an "event" went hot .... that's the way it was for decades - a single major event perhaps once a year ....

now .... How do you stop preparing these days? .... I'm calling it a "perfect storm" of constant waves of events .... we barely get a month in between anymore .... it's to the point that's it's hard to gather & evaluate concerning all these on-going events .... prep? - get it now and pile it high

Thanks for the reminder Housecarl. With the storm that blew through Monday morning and the power being off all day, it brought those very thoughts to mind.

It is the daily, "small" SHTFs that do more damage and chip away at you and inhibit your ability to function constructively. As you are struggling with the day to day is when you need to review your preps. If you can't survive the day to day with any cushion or leftover for the next day, you certainly aren't going to survive anything bigger and/or more dramatic.

In other words, don't wait for the big and flashy events to review your preps. Percentage of risk is weighted in favor of the quiet day to day stuff taking you out as opposed to the big and flashy occasional events.

My prep gear and rough plans are intact. Can't afford new additions but rotation and equipment checks are standard practice.

Thanks, HC, for an important post on this subject.
