I suspect when TSHTF, the zombie inner city hordes and the “new” illegal hood rats will not unite as a powerful aggressive force against white folk neighborhoods. These groups will likely be fighting among themselves, rather immediately, as they settle scores, compete for in-close home territory expansion, and attrit one another in the early days. Just their nature; genetic; unable to think strategically; fetal alcohol syndrome all grown up.

That will delay outgoing attacks, reduce their numbers and ammo, deplete fuel, dis-unite their groups, limit their potential range of expansion… for a while (days? weeks? months?). Eventually, strong warlords will emerge. They will likely have degrees of mil background and be quite a bit more intelligent than their followers and have some knowledge beyond the hood. But their efficiency and effectiveness will hopefully be limited, but that is nothing to rely upon.

They will initially rule 5-10 miles beyond city center. Suburbs will be easy picking as the majority of resisters who dare to remain will be weak and stupid. But this is where the groid will gain enough vehicles and fuel to push outward toward the countryside. This is where they will encounter warlords from the opposing side, with lots of firepower and supplies and intimate knowledge of the AO.

The hordes of color will likely not be the big threat. That will come from the multitude of rural warlords and their manpower followers, who evolve from protecting their communities to becoming local despots. Some regions will become like New England 1776; others more like Serbia or Lebanon
In under a week, the inner city hordes will be out of food. They will go to where the food is, wherever that is.

I muse that if power, water, etc...goes out that 99.% of soft Americans would freak out when they poop them selves and have no toilet paper much less a working toilet.

People be walking around with sewer pants. And blaming capitalist for all their ills.
They'd blend right in on the streets of San Francisco.

I completely agree on the nutrition aspect of stored food. There is a utuber (Rhoda Stone) who posts videos every day about stocking up cheaply. Most of the food she suggests is absolute garbage. She's a good cook, but clueless about nutrition.

Since I changes my way of eating a few weeks back I'm feeling a lot better. No snack foods or sweets at all. I suppose something sweet from time to time would be okay, but a daily dose of it will deteriote anyone's health. And people who already have compromised immune systems are in for a world of hurt.

DH and I both take something for pain, him every day but me not anything regularly. He's on warfarin and a mild bp med, but that's it. I take otc allergy meds almost daily, everything else is fine. I figure something allergy related will be what gets me.

With the lack of potable water, dysentery will quickly take many people out.

People living in warmer climates would be smart to store potable water in the
freezer. If the power goes out, they still have a means to cool down and cool water
to drink, but only for so long...... Then what will you do?

Easy to assail? Uhh, gated communities are...gated.
Have you ever been to a gated community? Most residential gated communities generally refer to the gate to stop traffic. Very rarely, is there an armed guard standing watch. So if a group really wanted to, they could just ram the gate with a truck and knock it open. If you will remember Mark and Patricia McCloskey live in a gated community in St. Louis yet the BLM crowd managed to gain access to their private neighborhood. The McCloskey's were charged when they tried to defend their property with legally owned guns.

My BIL lives in one on Indy's north side. Yes, there's a gate that has no security guard. You punch in the code and the gate opens and then very slowly closes behind you. No code needed to leave. Just drive up and the sensor opens the gate. Funny part is, if you travel down the feeder road about a half mile, there is another entrance without a gate and you can drive right in!

I just filled some 24 oz drink bottles (better plastic than water bottles) with water to go in the freezer and I also have juice bottles to do that with also. I didn't put any thing in the water because the was from the sink and its treated. I've also got some larger water containers that I want to get filled. We do have 10 or 12 icb totes with rain water in them.

ETA: I also keep a rotating three month supply of individual bottled water on hand.

What movie are you living in?

Ram the gate with a truck, and you'll likely take out your radiator, along with your headlights. Run over that downed gate and you might tear off your oil pan and get a flat tire or two. Come Mad Max there will likely be multiple armed guards at all access roads, up until the point that the entire gated community flees for safer ground.

Meanwhile out in suburbia, there are no gates.

Don't think a zombie is going to care if they total a stolen truck or car. Not even a consideration. Done deal the gate is gone.

Muse, if I lived in a gated community I would get to know my naighbors really good. Then weigh the survival aspects if I was going to stay put in a shtf situation.

Plus make sure I could get water sewer and electricity if the grid and infrastructure fail.

Security, water, food and sanitation first. If not it's not even worth fighting for. IMO

All the best.

In a gated community, the community's only hopium would be Uber Eats.

I have noticed gated communities have a much higher percentage of unarmed, helpless, pencil pusher types than do non gated communities. That's just based on 20 years of LEO work so I could be mistaken.

And, they no longer have pencils to defend themselves. Their world is all electronics. If the grid goes down, for many of them, you could sum them up in that one word, helpless.

Well Kathy, the world today seems to be playing at being civilized, so why not? At least they are getting a "taste" even if it's only playing at it. Even if only camping out in the middle of the desert for a weekend. Heck there's a lot of folks running around today that couldn't even do that....camp for a weekend. "WHAT NO ROOM SERVICE!?!" :hof:

True, but it doesn't change the fact that a lot of them are attention seekers about like those in the "survivalist" reality shows. That's not what you would call op sec.

I think you are confusing the gates in a "gated community" with the gates at a military base or federal prison. These gates are more to show money and status than for security. They are maybe a half step up from that little plastic arm that stops you in a parking garage so you can make your payment. The only thing that stops normal people from crashing the gate is that they don't want the damage to their vehicle. Someone(s) that is (are) hungry won't care. One car through the gate and the vermin is in.

Common sense would tell you that there has to be an alternate exit just in case power goes out or emergency vehicles need to access the area ASAP.

I will go out on a limb and say that most that live in a gated community, are business professionals and have no clue how to survive on their own. BIL and his wife work accounting and banking. They have maybe two days (and that's being generous) worth of food and a case or so of bottled water at any one time. Cars are filled with gas when they have to be. I truly believe that either the chaos/Mad Max thought hasn't crossed their minds, or they believe they will just go to live with better prepared family members. But experiencing the lay of the land, just getting out of that area would be hell and almost impossible. Why would you hem yourself in like that?!?!

I believe they have a house alarm and maybe a camera or two outside. But beyond that, they are depending on the false sense of security from that stupid gate. I was truly surprised that the McCloskey's had guns and minimal knowledge to use them. And for their efforts, they were arrested and had their guns confiscated by a corrupt, Soros backed, circut attorney, Kimberly Gardner. (Who has since resigned and is studying nursing!) BIL and his wife really don't have much to do with their neighbors and apparently don't know or like them very well because the only time they talk about them is to complain.

The houses are maybe the minimum needed to meet code away from each other and they ALL LOOK PRETTY MUCH ALIKE!! I have gone up to the door of the wrong house before and rang the bell. The streets are narrow and winding. The lot makes a postage stamp look big, which I guess is great from my BIL since he has always detested yard work. What am I saying? I'm sure he has a service and doesn't even own a lawn mower or string trimmer!
In a gated community, the community's only hopium would be Uber Eats.
Yep...knowing my BIL and his wife, they would definitely starve.

I thought he ment Uber Eats was eating other urbanites? Bet they taste like chicken, and will keep them from starving.

I'm not so sure the city folks would flee to the country. Most of them are terrified of the country and the people who live there. Our delivery drivers have told me before how scared they are, and some leave the packages by the road, because they are too nervous to drive up our long drive. I think most would wait for the government to "save" them.

Mad Max will be localized.
People will migrate - like Libya (Mad Max), like Syria (Mad Max), like Afghanistan (Mad Max), like Ukraine (Mad Max)
People will form militias. Militias do not have to be good guys.
Smuggling and mafia/gang style commerce will be normal.

When you think of that, what states are people fleeing?
What locations are on the verge of Mad Max
  • Pooping in streets
  • stores closing because of shoplifting
  • city blocks take over and declared "Autonomous Zones
  • cities that declare "Sanctuary City"
  • Antifa, BLM, illegal immigrants

Tomorrow you cold wake up and find a tipping point has already been reached.

There is something to this scenario...we have a long winding drive that you can't see the house.

An order from Kroger was delivered last week and the driver didn't want to deliver to the back porch. She got really pissy about it and flat refused. I think there is an extra charge applied if you want specific delivery instructions.

I can see both sides I guess. Yes she has a job description and that includes taking the delivery to order. But if I was delivering in a non-safe area? They would be lucky if I didn't chuck it out the refer-truck like a newspaper delivery.

The driver doesn't know what is safe.

Do they "flee to the country" now?
It appears that they "flee" from crazy states to states not so crazy and bring their crazy with them.

And most of them will never reach it. Because the ones that don't die of starvation or dehydration will die of misadventure. They will fall off things. Into things. On top of things. Near things that consider them food.

They will murder each other in droves. They will kill for food--if anyone has any--or women or just because someone "disrespected" someone else. Every trip will take hours. Cars will back up the roads for miles and make them impassable, assuming they don't run out of gas. Any accident will PERMANENTLY jam that road.

Those thinking the gates are worth anything have forgotten the BLM protesters in St. Louis that entered the gated community where the McCloskeys confronted them with weapons.

"About two hours into the demonstration on Kingshighway, the marchers began making their way towards Krewson's home. They walked north and made a left toward a street called Portland Place, which is blocked at both ends with imposing stone and wrought iron gates. Signs marked "Private Property" are posted at either end."

I agree there won't be much worth salvaging in the rich urban and suburban enclaves post grid down.... but envy will drive the violence....

And neither me nor mine will lift a finger to stop the locusts from devouring the helpless leftists...

Between cars out of fuel, crash scenes, and many hostile checkpoints… car/road traffic will quickly become almost nonexistent. That buys further time for us rural rubes to lay out our plans for security. Life will become very, very local, right down to the neighborhood. You will negotiate cooperation with known acquaintances, rather than strangers from down the road. Travel will by foot or bike. Gas will be saved for chainsaws, wood splitters, small gennies to retrieve water; diesel saved for garden tractors.

Everyone will stay home to protect home; all other services abandoned (hospitals, corner stores, cops, firefighters, EMS, infrastructure care. Build your tribe!

"Mad Max world" has occurred countless times throughout history in different locations.
People die.
People leave.
People figure it out. Militias get formed - of good guys and of bad guys. The knee gets bended. Protection money gets paid. Black market exchanges are formed.

Libya, Syria, Somalia, Afghanistan, Venezuela, the mid-east in general.

The only problem, of course, is that whatever makes it out of the cities will be nightmares made flesh.

The good part about that, though, is that the nightmares will still be made of flesh. And flesh dies.
