White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Tuesday that the Biden administration is "constantly monitoring" U.S. gas prices as they continue to rise nationwide, and insists the White House is "working on it."

When asked during a media briefing about gas prices remaining above $3 per gallon and what President Joe Biden is doing about the problem, Psaki replied, "The president wants Americans to have access to affordable and reliable energy, including at the pump."

"So that's why our team is constantly monitoring gas prices and directly communicating with OPEC parties to get to a deal and allow proposed production increases to move forward," Psaki continued, after reiterating several times during the presser that the U.S. is not a party to the OPEC infighting that is currently ongoing.

"The reason I've referenced it so many times is because I think there sometimes is a misunderstanding of what causes gas prices to increase," the press secretary continued. "And so, to convey to the American people that we're working on it, and certainly the supply and availability of oil has a huge impact. I would also say that ensuring Americans don't bear a burden at the pump continues to be a top priority for the administration."

Psaki said the White House is "closely monitoring the OPEC Plus negotiations and their impact on the global economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic," adding that "over the weekend and into this week, we've had a number of high level conversations with officials in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and other relevant partners."

Oil prices hit a six-year high on Tuesday upon the news that infighting at OPEC Plus, which includes some non-OPEC nations, meant the cartel failed to reach an expected agreement on raising production levels by 500,000 barrels a day through the end of the year. Prices came back down after Russia, an OPEC Plus member, attempted to diffuse the tiff sparked between Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

"We're encouraged by the ongoing conversation by OPEC members to reaching an agreement, the ongoing talks, I should say, which will promote access to affordable and reliable energy and certainly the impact on prices here is hence our great interest," Psaki told reporters.

Meanwhile, the ongoing spat among OPEC nations could mean Americans will continue to see gas prices rise, according to some experts.

"If we don't get the production from OPEC, it could mean the [oil] prices are going to go sharply higher," PRICE Futures Group senior analyst Phil Flynn told FOX Business' Neil Cavuto on "Cavuto: Coast to Coast." Flynn warned that Americans could see gas prices hit "$3.50 or $4.00 a gallon."

the people who sell gas
have to buy houses and cars.

If wage and houses and cars are increasing in price and gallons of gas sold are decreasing
then the price of gas is going up.
sorry.

below is the link to US Energy Information - total gasoline retail sales.
If you look at that link, scroll down to the spreadsheet and compare Aug 2019 to Aug 2020. Gasoline sales dropped by half.
Astounding!

Odd no?

1/19 we were energy independent, and now since 1/20 we have to wait on OPEC.

Does any of that make any since what so ever.

Just a FYI: People think gas prices are high now at around $3/gallon. Just wait. With the unprecedented amount of fiat currency being created, it's guaranteed that gas prices will skyrocket going forward.

People complained about soaring gas prices and inflation during the Carter administration back in the '70s. Now, people would love to "only" be paying 1970s prices on gas and everything else! As long as fiat money is endlessly created, increasing prices are guaranteed.

Remember that inflation is nothing more than too much currency - created by .gov and the Fed - chasing a limited amount of goods and services. Of course the government and the banks don't want people to understand this, so it's not something commonly taught in our schools.

and if you listen to the Feds, there is 2.5 trillion in excess cash floating around the system right now. With limited goods, imagine how that is going to help prices.

LOL

Nevermind energy independence, we are going to close all coal mines, stop all oil and gas drilling, mandate all electric cars, shut down the nuclear plants and that will make gas cheaper. Because we will not need any.

We will be a third world nation with no commerce and no money to buy energy anyway.

Remember when Pres Trump took office? The price of gas was pretty high, don't remember exactly how much, but high. Pres Trump made a couple of phone calls and down it came. That's what i call action.
Mike
He also opened the spigot to allow us to drill and produce more. That simple act of allowing our freedom inspired capitalism to go to work allowed us to become independent and the largest producer in the world.

Now we are being told to go back into our corner.

Took picture Saturday stopped they had places to charge electric cars $.43 a kilowatt max 350 kilowatts, it’s real and unbelievable, didn’t buy anything. Don’t worry Biden’s monitoring it.
Ok wait, is my calculator broke, or do I know how to use it? 0.43 X 350 is $150.50. Is that right? How far can you go on that?

Ok so next question: I know it depends on how low the battery is, but if there is like a 1/4 left in the tank, how many kilowatts will it take to fill it up?

I filled up the Jeep yesterday and 3, 5 gallon cans at 2.79 at the local country store which is usually a few cents higher that in town (Sams 2.50 a couple of weeks ago) 66.00. (how many of ya can get it on the even dollar ???LOL) I get 22 miles to the gallon.

The lawn mower on the other hand not so much. Anybody making electric riding lawn mowers? I need one in a tractor model, with a minimum 4' cut. Still takes 2 hours.
