“O our God, will You not judge them?* For we are
powerless before this great multitude who are coming
against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes
are on You.”* (2 Chronicles 20:12)

With all that is happening in our world right now, it would be very easy to get our eyes focused on the wrong thing. We can be turning to the right, left, and all around trying to figure out the enemies next move in a chess match that is being played on a multi level and multi dimensional chess board. We can hear a report from here, there, and everywhere about the next “event”, and then when nothing happens, or something takes place we did not expect, we can become very discouraged. It can be an emotional roller coaster that will drain you emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Throw in on top of all this this “personal” battles we all fight, and life can be overwhelming!

The Israelites were facing an approaching army that was larger and more powerful than anything they could stand against.* In fact, just the mere report of their entrance into Judah, sent fear racing through the heart of King Jehoshaphat.* He knew that there was only one thing to do in the face of such impending doom and danger; seek God!

He called a fast and gathered the people together to seek help from God.* Where else could they go?* They had no one to turn to, no ally to call that would rush to their aid.* Their backs were against the wall. Unbeknownst to them, they were exactly where God wanted them to be.

As they cried out and sought God, Jehoshaphat confessed their utter helplessness before such an imposing force.* They had no options, no way out.* He confessed to God that they did not know what to do, but that they would do the one thing, the only thing that mattered in such a situation; they would fix their eyes on God! Simply stated, this phrase means that they would look expectantly and confidently towards God for their help and deliverance.* He was fully confident in God’s love for them, as well as His power to deliver and to provide.* He knew that God would not sit by and do nothing.* He knew that He would intervene, and He did!

Of course, God instructed them to go out and face their enemy, and that when they did, they would see Him act in their behalf.* As they went forward, they began praising and worshiping God for His love and mercy.* As they declared their confidence in God’s character and heart through their worship, God routed the enemy and destroyed them all.* Not one escaped!* It took them three days just to collect the spoils of God’s great victory against their foes.

Has God changed?* Not according to my Bible.* Do you face some enemy or foe that seems overwhelming before you?* Are you afraid because of what you are seeing coming against you and what you will have to face?* Have the threats of the enemy got you shaking in your boots?* Do you feel like you just cannot go on and fight another battle, especially against such overwhelming odds?* Then do the one thing, the only thing you can do…get your eyes on God!

Are we facing global enemies that appear to playing free handed in their game of life and death? Does it “appear” that they are moving forward without restraint and advancing their luciferian agenda at break neck speed? Do you feel overwhelmed just trying to stay alert and watchful? The do the one thing, the only thing you can do...get you eyes on God!

Stop looking at the enemy, problem, or situation.* Stop trying to figure out “how” you are going to escape out of your present battle.* Turn your eyes upon the God Who is there and Who loves you more than you know.* Begin, even with weak lips and trembling knees, to declare how loving, good, gracious, and powerful a God He is.* Praise Him for what He has done and for what He is going to do.* Look expectantly and confidently towards Him.* You see, you are not where you are by accident, nor are we as a Nation.* In fact, it just may be that God has orchestrated and engineered your/our circumstances in such a way so as to bring you/us to this point.* Why?* So He can destroy you/us. fail you/us, turn His back on you/us?* No!* A thousand times no!* It is so He can show Himself strong in your/our behalf!* It is so He can prove once again, how much He loves you/us and how great a God He truly is!

The enemy will do everything he can and spread every lie possible, to keep your mouth shut and your eyes on him and not God.* He does not want to hear about the great and glorious God we serve.* Why?* Because where praise breaks out, God shines forth!* God inhabits His peoples praise, and steps in to defeat our enemies.* Therefore, the last thing satan wants you doing is getting your eyes on the true and living God, and lovingly worshiping Him.* He knows it is the path to his destruction and defeat!

So, what are you looking at right now? New World Order wickedness? Evil, corrupt rulers? Policies belched up from hell? A Middle East powder keg? An impending economic collapse? The “next” terrorist strike?* A bad Doctor’s report? Incoming bills? A family in turmoil? A private addiction that seems impossible to shake loose from?

Stop! Be alert and watchful, yes. BUT, turn your eyes upon Jesus, and look full and expectantly in His wonderful face.* Trust me, when you do that, all else fades in the light of His glory and grace.* Then, as you are looking, you will get so full of what you see, that you will just have to worship.* As you praise and worship, watch God work in your behalf.* You will enjoy picking up the spoils of His victory!

And even if death comes from the hand of persecuting forces...we win! To live IS Christ...but to DIE IS GAIN!!!!!

Grace and Peace,

Great thoughts and very timely.

Reminds me of an old gospel song:

Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace!

Wisdom of the ages sorely needed now. I see God's work all around me everyday in the beautiful place where I live, and that brings me peace and solace. Thanks for reminding me to stay focused on that and not on the myriad ills of the world and personal grief that confronts us all from time to time.
