CORONA What would you consider the best general source for accurate information?

For me, it's here. :) Although I'm pretty much staying away for my sanity....LOL! Cute kitten videos are calming.

I have a friend who is super stressed out because of reading everything on Facebook. I told her to stay off there!! She's conservative, but kind of...simple, and TB would overwhelm her. She wants information, but she basically needs just one simple site. If not, she will keep texting me with questions, and I don't have time or patience for that!!

Any suggestions?

There is nothing simple about this. And nothing will get easier, at least for a while.

Here, with adequate discernment, is the best source I know of so far.

Hmmm....OANN looks good, but I'm thinking more on Covid19 specifically. What are the current federal & state mandates, good info about masks/no masks and what kind, what exactly social distancing entails, difference between Covid/flu/colds. Those are the kinds of questions she's asking me.

She would never be able to handle this site or multiple sites, and has no idea how to research. She just needs a few reliable facts to satisfy herself. She's pretty gullible. Sweet woman, just very limited in certain ways.

Your friend would best be served with news from here, on TB2K. Here you get the most accurate and unvarnished truth on the virus, from many different sources.

I would caution your friend to take what info she sees here "in small bites". I understand your "simple" concerns. She will get the truth here, and analysis done by people without agendas. She will find this site as one finds an encyclopedia Britanica. Chock full of useful info.

It is heartening to hear your friend has genuine interest in finding truth-most people blindly accept what's being spewed out by the mainstream media at face value. My wife also uses Facebook, thankfully she fact checks what she sees with me. Farcebook is a minefield of bogus and misleading information.

Does her local health dept have a decent site put together- or perhaps a local trusted gov. org or news org? It's really not a complicated thing, at it's heart, it's simply a virus. We protect from them essentially the same way, and all the old rules we already know apply... wash hands and don't touch eyes nose mouth (or ears?). Clean surfaces frequently. . . 6 feet is the minimum distance...

flu trackers may be too technical for her needs, but I trust that group above any other I know to look for the unvarnished truth, and be smart enough to know it, and share it, when tis found. They have some of the mask info, for certain, and probably also address other issues of concern to her.

i like chris martinson, coming here, frank vaughan, dr john campbell , OAM, sometimes dr shiva, and even clif high. when i cant take any more corona crap i watch 'cute dogs and cats'.

National am radio news (old fashioned 5 minutes on the hour), BBC (radio) overnight (they are 6 hours ahead of us in time zone), usually listen to the first hour of Hugh Hewitt's radio show in the early morning, check the local newspaper website a couple times/day, Minnesota Public Health Dept site, check Redstate.com, Townhall.com and Powerlineblog.com in the morning. Over the course of the day, check this place, zerohedge, Drudge....maybe Rush for a few minutes at noon, or Mark Levin at 5:00 pm...just to get the flavor of the day.

NO TV. (Insanity)
No social media for news/politics (Worse insanity)...ONLY use for music (fun) stuff.

Basically, a person needs a lot of sources to get the whole picture. Sometimes I wonder if my list of sources is too narrow.

lot of people get to wound up. I had to cut way back how much I was here, used to try and read every post. now, mabye 4 or 5 times a day. and if 4 or more pages have been added to the coro page, I just read the top page.

some just cant handle all the doom out there, and so many different openions. one page tells you yes, another page says no. just do something else if its to stressful.

I think the county health department is a good idea for her. It's not too extensive, not my personal go-to, but at least it won't be confusing. Thanks.

Arfcom has like a 1600 plus page thread ongoing and always growing on the covid stuff. Yes some is junk posts you can skip but a lot of it is info that like here, might be mentioned as possible but not sure and as days go on it shows up again and gains traction.

I would expect reddit and other places are the same.

I wander in and out of here a lot but don't pretend to keep up with the big thread. The thread on arf is even faster, but with more dumb, but not gonna try hard to keep up with it.

I think the OP has clarified she wants something simple and basic to convey the facts to this person in such a way as to provide accurate info with out overwhelming or confusing. Any health dept, or even WHO pamphlet should do a good job of providing these facts. There are probably brochures and pamphlets available online as well to print or order for free that could be useful.

I feel like I have been 2 - 3 weeks ahead of what is considered 'the news' thanks to Peak Prosperity with Chris Martinsen.
It is really calming to be informed with the latest news and possibilities, and I thank Chris Martinsen and the great job he has done with his research and opinions.

Tip, for some reason his lastest videos are uploaded hours or even a day earlier onto youtube before his Peak Prosperity site. Well worth your time to watch his almost daily videos which are mostly 30 - 45 minutes long.

I signed up for the forum there, but I don't care at all for how it is structured, so have only a couple posts there.

To the op of this thread, this site is a great resource. The structure is great, the info is vast, for a new person here it can be very overwhelming and time consuming.

Peak Prosperity for the latest on Covid, Timebomb2000 to dig into the meat of many subjects.


Edit: Also I watch the Presidents' daily show 2 - 3 times a week. I love President Trump, but weary of some of the others. Funny how it seems to be the Fauci show even when his info is 1 - 2 weeks behind when other have reported the same findings.

I believe Fauci has a daggar in his hand...
